While I haven't been posting much on these BTS boards, just thought I blow my trumpet for CM:2. I am really looking forward to it, can't wait. Now to my request: I play ALOT of PBEM. Not so much TCP/IP since it's hard for me to be there RIGHT when I'm needed. Due to this I sometimes forget who it is I am fighting (I know I'm not the only one) So, it might be nice to see in the text box where the name of the battle is shown ie. Quick Battle, instead showing the current filename/filenumber for the current PBEM. Just a thought. Thanks again BTS for the revolution. Viva la Revolution!

Barbarossa- The Russian- German conflict
azazyel replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
Thanks for the reply. I would say that is a reasonable statement about Mellinthin. Von Luck too for that matter. I just got Panzerjager this weeknend past. I am looking forward to it as I enjoyed "The View from the Turret" alot. It is sort of broken and in need of re-editing, but it has good first person accounts none the less. -
Barbarossa- The Russian- German conflict
azazyel replied to Kanonier Reichmann's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
What problems do people have with Panzer Battles (Von Mellinthin)? I have been searching for a balanced review of it and can't find any that mention discrepancies. I liked the book. I must say however, I can't fully judge his veracity, but I also can't doubt it. Hence this post. Also, what did you guys think of Panzer Commander (Von Luck)? Az -
Is "Sneak" slower than "Move" ? TIA

Penetration KT vs M-18 - some strange conclusions

Does that apply to functioning AFV's? Can my platoon HQ watch his men from behind my Panther? And why are knowcked out AFV's not considered cover? -
This is not a problem, but in my first game as the British (started last night). I opted to buy a Wolverine (Jackson or Hellcat?) And while placing my units I noticed that the texture fo the Wolverine is an American one. I'm assuming that once the game gets started the base will be the British color. So, is this color scheme just the game or is there some historical occurance to justify this. Again, this is not a complaint. My opponent set up the board as an Allied Attack against a villiage inhabited by Waffen SS. I had complete choice for my forces, but since I've never been the British before and I LOVE the Daimlers, I thought I'd go with an all Tommy force. TIA

I found the SPI games difficult at first, but after about 3 months of playing various scenarios and "tweaking" the rules a bit, I found the VERY enjoyable and could play them for days on end. Victory Games' Vietnam was, by far, the most difficult game I have ever played. -
The AI and usage of Smoke rounds, not HE.
azazyel replied to Talenn's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Hi all, I have a funny tale about the AI and the use of smoke...bear with me It was a QB with custom forces for the jerry's vs. American Combined Arms Force picked by AI. I (the Germans) put a platoon of Tigers on a hill in the very back of my force. limited visibility but great cover for the tanks. After about 10 minutes of smashed tanks shattered infantry squads and general chaos caused in the American lines by this platoon of tigers, the AI figures he's had enough of this and begins to pummel the hill with approx 120 smoke rounds over 4 minutes. Nothing else came behind the smoke. I did have to move half of the platoon forward however, so it was somewhat clever on the part of the AI. just my 2pennys -
Yeah! the Nam would be great. If somewhat taxing on the ol' pentium. That due in part to the increased trees that would need to be on the map Helicopters could be treated like slow Jabos that drop people instead of bombs...?

Have you guys tried Paratroopers on Parade? Flamethrowers work wonders vs. GP's az

How do you guys plan your rocket attacks on advancing Allies? The delay between and the turn that there are actually incoming rockets seems long (yes, I know its probably very close to RL). Too long infact for the barrage to be as effective as I'd like. Any takers?

LOL. NOT the direction I expectedthis thread to follow...oh well btw, Azazyel is from the apocryphal book of Enoch...good read I think "Fallen" got it from there.

Youve really done a great job with this game guys! However, I can see alot of potential here. Other theaters, other wars... The engine has very impressive capabilities IMO
