'Penetration' has to be taken in a rather metaphorical sense here. It means the burning fuel has got into either the crew compartment or the engine through ventilation openings and set something vital on fire.

"Lazy PBEM Opponents..."
Says the man who weazeled out of all campaign duties in a campaign so he could keep playing his precious umpty five simultaneous PBEMs .
To his credit I have to say that campaign is now all but dead. So once again, the Grog of Grogs was proved right.

Here are 2 threads which I would like to bring to the esteemed attention of Madmatt et al. :
-
After this KV's HQ tank was removed from battle in an operation (immobilized), it surprisingly got a command line to an infantry platoon HQ :
No, there is no infantry unit hiding underneath or behind the tank. The line also showed when I selected the tank.
As you can see this is during setup, it's in a tcp/ip game so I'll have to wait for the next appointment with my opponent to see if it persists during actual play.

Are the BTS guys on holiday ?
Surely this is worth some attention.

Xerxes,
You can only do it FROM and INTO large heavy buildings. Both ye olde two story variety and the factory kind will do.
Bear in mind that they take ages down there (mine took over 10 minutes to cross a wide street) and come up piecemeal, sometimes in the wrong place, sometimes not at all.
The units will first sink through the floor as they start their move, then gradually rise up out of it as they surface at the other end.

I don't think this is how BTS intended it to work.
* activate smug self-congratulatory tone*
Say - wouldn't that make a nice official way of reporting bugs in future .
*de-activate smug self-congratulatory tone*
I recently had a platoon become isolated around a few buildings. Due to the above behaviour I had the choice between leaving them marooned inches away from the relative safety of the inside of those buildings, or pulling them all the way back to my main setup zone. However, repositioning them ever so slightly to put a wall between them and the advancing Nazis was not an option. This - clearly - is a nonsense.

The sharpshooter is a pretty sneaky customer as is. I wouldn't waste another 3 or 4 men to follow him around.
-
Bottom line is still the same old song for me : numbers against quality.
The T-34 hasn't been that bad a tank for me so far. Sure, they don't survive the battle in great numbers, but they're very fast for such big beasts, they have versatile ammo (canister, good HE) and they can take a fair bit of punishment.
The 85 ranks high among my all-time favorite tanks.

ONLY for mortars, I finally learned to my cost.
The illusion is being created here and there that HQs can spot for offboard arty in CMBB.
This is not true.
-
I've used it.
Caught my opponent completely by surprise and retook the factory .
(Sorry Nidan1...)

Bugger.
I had no idea about Carell's background. I've been reading his 'Scorched Earth' and was starting to wonder, but only AFTER I dished out a small fortune to get 'Hitler Moves East'.
-
Hilarious !
Thanks Murpes, I was in need of a good laugh

You wouldn't have an 88 tattooed in your neck, by any chance ?
Just wondering
-
I'm probably going to get flamed to death for this, but you and your cronies are crazy to throw this away for nothing.
Seriously, if some application design firm were told to make this it would cost a small fortune. Maybe you should try flogging it to CDV ?
Truly stunning, amazing, breathtaking work.

Anyone who would like to tell me that I was right not to mess around with loose mods and wait for CMMOS/CMBB may now do so.
Gordo, you are the one and only King of Modders.
-
Are you positive not a single unit had LOS ? Visual contacts or sound ?
-
After playing Yelnia Stare on the demo I resigned myself to the fact that it would not be possible to move troops under any kind of fire.
After having played a fair bit of CMBB, I've found that it isn't that straight forward. Units will often try hard to complete their move. Sure they'll hit the deck, but they keep crawling and sometimes get up for another spurt again.
They seem to do better when they're moving to somewhere with cover that's already got some friendly units in it. Makes sense.
-
I have used it to great effect. It was in a Stalingrad battle of course.
I had thought of it as a rather fancy feature but it really was the only way I could win that game and it worked !
-
I think some VERY challenging scenarios were included with CMBB.
When you find that your setup zone is surrounded by open ground, there's no smoke available and the enemy turns out to have more and better tanks than you do, you shouldn't feel too bad about your attack failing, even against the AI.
-
Infantry is definitely a lot better off against tanks then it was in CMBO.
You can have a squad toss assorted nasties at buttoned tanks from buildings all day long and it won't spot them.
Panzerwurfmine and the like are especially deadly. If a unit gets near enough to your tank to toss one, it's history.
Panzerfausts are used much more rapidly. A squad can fire multiple fausts literally in a matter of seconds.
-
You're using mortars to break up the AI's co-ordination ?
That's interesting.
I'd be even more interested to know how you got the AI to co-ordinate its troops in the first place.
I've always used them primarily to knock out guns and rout MG's. They seem to be slightly less effective at this in CMBB but maybe that's because I've used the smaller calibre mortars more.
-
Right.
Keep an eye on the end of your target line while you're moving it around near the gun. If it's over a spot your HQ has LOS to, it will change from 'Sight Blocked' to 'Area Fire'.
WHAT?!? ANOTHER CMMOS RELEASE?!?

Bloody hell. I just spent half an evening downloading the last batch of goodies.
I hear a wing is being added to the Betty Ford center for Mod addicts...
