  1. Ted: Just letting you know that I am not able to download the "A Wake Up Call" scenario.
  2. Just wanted to thank the Seims for their wonderful hospitality. They went above and beyond as Mrs. Seim entertained my wife and toddler son, giving me an opportunity, although much too short, to see CMBB and play a complete scenario against Stormbringer. This preview also gave me some insight into the magnitude of the research and committment BFC is putting into the development of CMBB. As to CMBB, it will be worth the wait and having had an opportunity to take a look, I am content to wait as long as it takes for BFC to complete their work. My battle with Stormbringer was an armor slugfest, at short range, between German and Soviet heavyweights. The biggest improvements I noticed were the number of new commands and the graphics when the tanks would fire. I'll leave it the other participants in the preview, who were there much longer than I, to give a more detailed account. [ July 29, 2002, 11:17 AM: Message edited by: uhduck ]
  3. I haven't visited the Dixie Chicken since my wife graduated in 1995. This might be a good opportunity to check out CMBB and visit Aggieland's most famous drinking establishment. Check your email Seimer and thanks for hosting this demo.
  4. Congratulations on your new son and the rapid re-acquisition of some semblance of your former life. My son is almost eight months old and I still have little time of my own! I'm looking forward to trying your new scenarios someday.
  5. Guy w/gun: Hope you don't stop posting, it is nice to know there are others like me who take the time to post. Also, check your email for a message.
  6. Guy W/Gun: I have never played a PBEM, generally, I have so little time to play that I don't want to leave someone hanging for days or even weeks waiting for a turn. Let me read the manual this weekend on PBEMs and I'll get back to you on Monday and possibly we will blunder our way through our first PBEM!
  7. Terence, your description of your gameplay style sounds remarkably like mine. I am constantly amazed at the tactical discussions that many posters place on this board. With the kind of thought, planning, and attention to detail they talk about putting into the placement of their units, lines of advance, defenses-in-depth, interlocking fields of fire, etc., etc. I wonder how much time they have in a day to devote to playing CM? With the limited time and opportunities I have to actually play CM, if I attempted to put that much time into the placement of my units, studying the terrain to determine fields of fire and the best avenues of attack, etc. I would never get to the point of pushing the Go button before it was time to turn off the computer for the evening! I'd rather just play and if the result is bad, learn the lesson and start another game the next opportunity. By the way, I also lose to the AI. One particularly bad experience I remember quite vividly was the first (and at this point only) time I played 712th at Pfaffenheck. I played as the Americans and the Germans, after wiping put most of my armor in the first few turns, won a major victory.
  8. Agua: The Sgt. Rock scenario sounds like it would be fun. I fondly remember the Sgt. Rock comic books from my youth. To give you an idea of how long ago, the comic books cost ten cents when I first started buying them. Would you mind emailing the scenario to me at middleton@rmllp.com? Thanks.
  9. I like smaller scenarios. Please send it my way. Thanks. middleton@rmllp.com
  10. You may want to consider trying an upgrade to your existing system if finances are an important factor in your decision. Since I could not purchase a new computer to replace my two year old Compaq Pentium II, I made three upgrades which dramatically improved its handling of CM: increased memory to 128 meg RAM, replaced the onboard video with a TNT2 and finally, a new 17 inch monitor. Because of the TNT2, my home computer now handles CM much better than my 5 month old work computer.
  11. I would appreciate it if you could email it to me as well. Thanks.
  12. Rest assured, your system should be sufficient to enjoy CM. I have an even slower system: PII 300, ATI 3D Rage LT Pro, and 128 MB, and I have not noticed any problems with the game function. I am limited to rather low resolutions. But, somehow I do get fog with my ATI card. After seeing the problems that numerous people have experienced with just about all video card brands, I have been engaged in an internal debate on whether I should go to the expense and trouble of attempting a video card upgrade and possibly screw up my computer's acceptable handling of CM.
  13. I have noticed a problem similar to jKMkIII. When I have an HQ in a building facing toward the known or suspected enemy, I have a problem getting an infantry squad in the building to face in the same direction. They keep moving to the opposite side of the building and facing the back. Does anyone have any suggestions?
  14. Thanks for the quick reply Schrullenhaft. My computer only has PCI slots. The video drivers I have are the ones that came loaded on my computer when I purchased it. I did increase memory to 128MB.
  15. As a relative CM newbie and computer novice, I have a question for the forum. I have a 2 year old Compaq: 300MHZ PII with the original video card (ATI 3D Rage LT Pro with 2MB video memory). I haven't upgraded anything except to Directx7.0a. To me, CM seems to run fine at 640x480 (I have a small monitor). There even appears to be fog in the "Fear in the Fog" scenario, although it looks more like you are looking through a piece of gauze than actual fog. With all of the video card problems I have seen on this forum, should I be satisfied? What are the potential benefits of a video card upgrade that would be worth the risks involved in making the change considering my lack of computer tech skills?
