  1. Sorry about the tree problem guys, I should have remembered from earlier mods that mac version is a little more sensitive about the range of pink/purple colours. Visual checks on the PC did'nt show them of course. Is it just 536?, if not can someone tell me the bmp numbers and I will try to correct the problem. Cheers
  2. Hi Panzerman, I will have a look at the trees and see if theres anything I can do. I'm working on a PC so I'm not sure how easy the problem will be to resolve. Cheers
  3. Sorry to hear about the file problems some of you are having with the zips. I doubt I can contribute anything helpful regarding this to Manx and Dragoon though, but of courseI will do anything I can. Tree Bases Yeah I thought those brighter green textures for the scattered tree bases were appropriate to the Normandy scenery as they were suggestive of orchards. I also wanted to find a way of getting some brighter highlights into the landscape without effecting the base grass colours too much. Mr Johnson I think the subdued grass is already the same res as the original game textures?
  4. Hi everyone, I thought it may be easier to answer some of your queries in a new thread. I intended the mod as an occasional alternative to peoples usual terrain set up, not as a replacement. I only made textures for and tested it with Normandy scenarios set at the height of summer (June, July and August)in primarily a rural environment. I avoided doing urban stuff as I do not like those types of scenario. I think urban areas look generally bad in the game (too little variety)and feel a little too abstract. I'm much happier with the villages, hedges and fields! If you use the terrain for other seasons it is going to start looking odd as original game graphics will begin to be substituted instead (like autumn trees and bases). Thats why I made this set in the first place, to make a colour-coordinated set of grass and trees and skies that did not clash. The idea behind this is that the autumn mod terrain set would reflect where the fighting was by September and later. Perhaps a new set of matching grass and trees, buildings and skies for Holland during the Market Garden operation for example. The winter terrain would thus cover the Ardennes campaign and the spring mod the drive into Germany. Those white spots in the woodland tree bases are meant to be there, they were supposed to be summer flowers but I guess it did not work as well as I hoped ! The mod was made to look best viewed from ground level so I was not too concernerd about tiling patterns in the grass from higher viewpoints. If I can reduce this effect in future stuff I will of course. Some of the terrain did not get as much time spent on it as other bits. In the end I decided to call it a day as otherwise I would still be tinkering around with it. The good thing for me is that now folks have the mod I can make occasional replacement elements available such as new buildings, improved scrub/brush terrain, trees etc without the effort involved in planning and making a complete new set each time. Well no matter what you do with it I'll be very pleased if the mod has contributed to your enjoyment of the game!
  5. Hi, Sorry some people are having trouble with the 325 file in the zip. I hope its the only gremlin. Those white spots in the woods, they are intentional. They are, well, er ....flowers. Guess it did'nt work!
  6. I'm really sorry for the delay guys, I hope in the end you will think the wait to have been worthwhile. Sometimes I forget to consider the work load and other RW pressures already on the dedicated folks who run the CMBO websites for us and which host the mods. I will try to let you know news as soon as I can. Cheers
  7. Thanks for the comments about the Tommies Maximus. The GI's will be the next infantry mod. There would appear to be quite a range in the colour of the US uniforms so I think there will probably be at least 2 '44 versions and perhaps two '45 versions. It would be great if we could mix the uniforms in each 3 man squad for a bit of extra variety. Heer/SS after (I don't like to think how many uniform/colour combinations there could be for these though) and then para's for all sides. Thats the plan at the moment..... Cheers
  8. The troops are sitting in their transports and are now quite sea sick and cramped. Held up by some kind of break down in communication? The mods about 13-14 megs (in total) zipped into 4 individual parts. Hopefully it will not be long..... Cheers
  9. Hi, I am still working on the mod and its now about 95% complete. It would be great to have it in a usable condition by/around the 6th of June. Manx, is it OK if I send you some screenshots?
  10. Hi Wolfcub, You Quatermasses TFC buddy? Welcome aboard!
  11. Hi, I am just getting familiar with the mod stuff again after an enforced break.I will get some screenshots out for comment as soon as I am fairly happy the look of the terrain (2-3 weeks?). Not all the textures will be "new". For the most part I have simply changed the colours to something I think looks a bit more natural. New stuff will include buildings, skies, grass and a few trees specific for a Normandy summer 1944 type environment. Cheers
  12. Sorry for the lack of updates but I have been keeping my head down while RW work stuff comes to a head. I should be able to return to the project in a few days and I will try to finish the Normandy part off. Cheers
  13. Thanks for the interest guys! I have not been able to continue with the mod lately due to RW work deadlines but I should be clear of this in a few more days and then I can return to the project. Most of the terrain is more or less in place, it just needs refining further. One change I may make though is to make the buildings lo-res (about 1/2 are hi-res at the moment). Lo-res are much quicker for me to put together and means I can access a much more useful variety of textures. These may loose some of the sharp detail of hi-res but I think they should turn out more realistic and natural looking. Also the file sizes will be much more "friendly". Cheers
  14. Hi, I hope to get some GI's finished next though I will stick with mainly lo-res textures (they are much quicker to make !) and mix in some hi-res parts where necessary (like with the helmets). There will be '44 and '45 variants again plus tankers with maybe a couple of versions for each (just how many shades of olive drab is there?) Cheers

  16. Thanks everyone for the responce. I have been developing the terrain for a while now and the project was getting a little stale so the interest shown here will help me to finsh it off. I'll have a proper read through your comments and reply again later. Those shots already posted are reduced from the original screen captures which does have a tendency to make the terrain (and skies) look better than they actually. I will try to get some larger screen shots for later in the week. Cheers
  17. I'm a bit surprised thre have not been more non-camo allied vehicle mods as it would appear to be the historical norm. I also prefer the look as I think it suggests that the the allies are a little unprepared for the conditions(as opposed to the Germans who have all those Russian front veterans in their ranks). Having said that though if I knew a certain unit had winter camo in a historical scenario (like those snow-suited British/Canadian infantry just released)then I will happily load up the mod and enjoy the extra authenticity it provides. But thats whats so great about having all these mods, you can tailor your own copy of the game to suit your vision (or version!) of WW2. I will get back to the allied vehicles at some point as they are my favorites (US Recce stuff and the British armour!).
  18. Blimey that was a nice surprise. I have been visiting CG Online almost daily for years now as my first stop for game news but I never thought I would get a mention there one day!
  19. Bummer. We are going to miss it. Best wishes for your new project Garry and thanks for enriching the CM community with your hard work and time. Come back again soon.
