  1. Sharpshooters are also good for spooking artillery spoters at long range. I used to think they were useless too, but check their kill stats at the end of the game Grobdeutschland, I think you'll be surprised at just how many casulties they cause.
  2. CM2: Barbarossa & Beyond is an even better name, gj! I wonder if CM2 will include Finnish, Romanian, Slovakian, and Italian units that served on the East Front as well? Another thing I've been wondering is will CM2 include ski troops? The Finnish army had a great many ski troops in the field throughout it's "three War's" + I understand that ski troops were used extensively by the Soviets in the defence of Moscow as well? I think that Talonsoft's East Front 2 did a great job of incorporating ski troops, and the units of lesser known countries (those besides Germany and the USSR) -My guess is that CM2 will do an even better job!
  3. Sorry to drag up this old-assed topic, but it's better than making a new one me thinks + I've just found a wicked Molotov link (follow this link and then click on "Molotov Cocktail" 1/2 down the page): http://www.winterwar.com/Weapons/FinAT/FINantitank2.htm#THE MOLOTOV COCKTAIL CM2 has got to have Molotovs, it's just got to! 4. I think the name should be "Combat Mission, Barbarossa". BTW I think it's time we got a CM2 forum added to this message board, what do you figure?
  5. Here's an article on the buy out: http://www.ga-source.com/all/news/bits/11+15+2000/16:26:21.shtml
  6. Good points! (esp about the beefed up US squads) I wonder how the 9-man SS squads split? I'm gonna go try it.
  7. Forgive me if this has been asked/discussed here before + I did a search first but there wasn't much on the subject previously posted in this forum, (a few reference to scouting is all). I just wanted to ask under what circumstances would you split a squad? And is there anyway to rejoin them once they've been split?
  8. I love to use the German Flamethrower Half-Track (70 points for the regular version). Here's a trick I use when defending a village: put your infantry in the second row of houses in the village and then right off the bat use the flamethrower to set the first row ablase via the area target option. Obviously the assaulting infantry can't enter the burning buildings and you can really give them a hardtime while they try to get to you without the aid of cover. This can work with woods too, but those squares are somewhat harder to set on fire than buildings.
  9. I'd like to be able to view the firepower and advanced stats in the unit selection menu, (maybe you can, and I don't know how??). As for being able to see the map first I'm against it in multiplayer games, but as long as it's an option I wouldn't mind it in singleplayer (not that I would use it myself).
  10. I hear that the Italian tanks have 5 speeds, (all in reverse)...
  11. A GREAT, (and I wouldn't say that lightly), book about the Russian Front from the German Perspective is "Cross of Iron" by Willie Heinrich. A must read, if you can find it...
  12. I agree, it works especially well if you have an officer with a good stealth bonus in direct-command of troops hidden inside a structure. If this is the case your troops won't open up until the enemy units are very close indeed. (This is a good way to ambush the enemy with flamethrowers also).
  13. I enjoyed that enormously + I'll be sure to patronize your site in the future. Thanks!
  14. Need I say more: http://combathq.thegamers.net/POTD/Image11.jpg
  15. Crocky, It's all relative though; what does the average new release cost in New Zeland? A PC game costing $85 in Canada is unheard of + that's too much here.
  16. Don't just focus on the "no game is worth that much" part; I know the game is great I've got it, (though I think it was only $35US, or something when I ordered it)?? All's I'm saying is that we Canadian's could go into any EB in the trendiest mall we could find, and there wouldn't be a new release in the entire shoppe that cost more than $69.95 cdn. I just think $85 cdn is too much for a game that has been out this long + they should understand our position RE the exchange rate and try help Canucks out by setting up a distribution center in Canada.
  17. I just took a look at our exchange rate and it's 1.55US! That means anyone ordering CMBO from Canada is going to pay almost $85 for this game ($45 + $8 S&H x 1.55)!! That's just insane + no game is worth that (not even CMBO). I agree with/support your online only policy, but isn't there some way you can distribute directly from Canada so as to give us poor canucks a break? The exchange rate is killing us, eh!
  18. I did a search and came up with the "detailed explaination" of why the developers won't be selling Combat Mission Beyond Overloard in stores. I really do support the developers stance, but this is a major hassel for me because I don't have a credit card, don't shop online. Hence, I am seemingly barred from getting a copy of this great game. I notice that Sid Meyers Antatum, (another online-purchace only game), has finally made it to stores + I hope that CMBO is released in kind. However, I want you to know that I definitely support the policy, and the move to protect Wargaming + my one and only qualm is that I can't get the game via the current system + I wish there was some other way...
