  1. Also, will there be some sort of report at the beginning of your turn, so you know what happened during the other players turn? Or will you just have to look for the missing units?

  2. I've always prefered the Allies in any WWII game.

Once asked why I'm not particularly interested in CM:BB, I replied "Are there Americans in it?" tongue.gif

(The truth is my PC more than likely won't run it well.)

That said, I will actually play ANY side... so I often let a PBEM opponent take first choice. I just like playing games, so which side I play isn't the lifeline. (I just know alot more about Americans in WWII than I do about any other country.)

So when SC comes out, I'm looking forward to trying out ALL the different countries and options. There is alot of good gaming ahead!

Now I just wish we had true multiplayer capability, so someone could play Russia, while someone else was the US, and someone else was Canada, etc...

  3. Even after reading a lot of war books I'm still confused on exactly what mechanized infantry is... I had thought the tank groups took care of that in SC. Apparently I'm wrong, so can someone please explain.

I don't see the stacking issue being a problem... in fact I think this will be a cleaner system, and becuase of resupply/reinforcement, it still seems realistic.

  4. Agreed! I'll fire off some E-Mails to my buddies today. I'm positive I can at least convince my Air FOrce buddy to buy a copy! (So long as I can get hold of him... Damn high security job!)

The PBEM option makes it easy to convince friends to purchase it, as all you have to do is promise them some games!

  5. YAY! Thanks a plenty! I cannot wait to read more!

(I especially cannot wait to PLAY!)

EDIT: Couple of questions from the MAP.

    * Do the white dots on the bottom of your units signify anything?

    * Shouldn't there be a fortified line on your side of the French border? Am I wrong here... once again, its been a while, I'm just catching up again.

    * Some of the "enemy" units have numbers, some have lines. Is this a FOW thing?

  6. Thanks for all the info Monkeybutt! (now that sounds weird!)

Also thanks for the reading suggestions! I'll check the library this weekend.

    YAY!

What about the Italians? Weren't they doing something wrong around 1940?

Okay, at the risk of being a complete ignoramous...

What exactly does that cover? I have really only concentrated my reading of WWII on the war AFTER the US became involved. I've looked in my sourcebooks, and not been able to find Fall Gelb. What can I expect this campaign to cover??? How many countries will be involved?

  8. Let me sum it up by saying this is the first game to take me away from Combat Mission in two years!

WOW! That alone is a huge ad for the quality and fun of SC!

Sounds like a real winner. Looking forward to the beginning of the AAR this weekend.

  9. I really like Straha's ideas for Airborne troops!

I'm beginning to agree a little bit about airbornes actual (lack of) effectiveness at this scale. What Straha mentions would allow us a few more tactical options, while not creating an unrealistically powerful unit that would simply be exploited in unrealistic ways.

At $25, I'm already sold on this game. As long as the DEMO runs on my PC, I'll be purchasing the full version.

I DO however hope that it will be supported for a while by any necessary patches, as CM was.

    Can't wait for the DEMO!

  10. I think this system (which I admit sounds a bit awkward) may work out fine. SuperTed has already said that it is a simplification, but that it works. From what he has said about surrounding a unit and then attacking, I think that would be the answer to taking the harder cities (as in real life.) Certainly it would still be hard to do, but that is realistic too.

I'm looking forward to getting an AAR here sometime soon. That should help us get a better picture of how some things work.

  11. I agree about the challenge and replayability of this game... not to mention the sheer fun of it.

I'd rather see Airborne included in a patch, though, than have to wait for an SC2. THEN, Airborne could be tweaked for the eventual SC2, along with whatever other features were added.

EDIT: I just noticed that this game is only gonna cost $25!!! Damn, what a bonus! That's a lot of play for $25!

  12. What about stacking?

Can you stack units and then get a simultaneous attack?

Is there any way to get a simultaneous attack?

Once again, we have not even played the DEMO yet, so it may not matter... but I'm still curious.
