So not for their political ideals then? Why should someone higher in the C.O.C. be assumed to be more capable in a game, when we all have our own experiences in real life that show that people quite often get promoted beyond their abilities? :eek:

I'll not worry about the future too much. I think only of the now, NOW! But I may be staying at 1.01 till CM3 if they do scupper our fun.

I would suggest avoiding the P4's at the moment (when they arrive with available motherboards that is!! ) You will most likely pay a premium for them. Money that might be better spent getting yourself a great graphics for use with our favourite wargame... (that's CMBO for those that aren't sure! ) P3-800's and larger, Durons overclocked up to 1 gig, or any highend T-bird allied with a Voodoo 5 or Geforce GTS will be plenty powerful for CMBO (and much more).

I have both a Voodoo 5 and an ASUS flavour of Geforce DDR. I have used both to play CMBO with, at various resolutions, and differing levels of FSAA. Here, for what it's worth is my opinion. Geforce 2x is almost as good as Voodoo 2x at the same resolution. It's close, but on my monitor, the image does seem crisper and cleaner with the Voodoo card. Geforce 2x though, is NOT a patch on Voodoo 4x. FSAA 4x gives the best implementation, the best image quality by far, and isn't that slow at 1024 x 768 in CMBO. I run CMBO on the Geforce at 1280 x 1024 2x FSAA, but it is certainly not as good visually as Voodoo 4x FSAA and 1024 x 768. At these resolutions, the Geforce IS quicker than the Voodoo. But, let's be honest here, it's not a shooter we're talking about. If it plays back at a framerate that your happy with, then I'd go for the extra visual quality in CMBO any day. Both cards give good results in CMBO with FSAA enabled, I certainly couldn't play the game (and many others) without it now.

Having caught it on TV the other day, it has to be another vote for: Battleground A far better account of the Battle of the Bulge than the 'Battle of the Bulge' was.

Geforces Hardware or Software FSAA??? I think there is some confusion over FSAA on the Geforces and MX cards... It all stems, I believe from the early reports that the Geforce cards emulated FSAA in software because they were implemented in new driver releases.... Then NVIDIA came out and said that the driver releases were using the T@L GPU for FSAA, so in essence it is hardware FSAA. So this is what everyone reports NOW. Now it appears as if the MX version is offering similar performance to the original SDR Geforce, but for a very good price. Now FSAA can be a killer, so to be honest I would direct you to a 32mb Geforce DDR card, as now the GTS is out, these cards are good value, and with the 6.18 drivers, run CM very nicely with FSAA on. I also have a system with a Voodoo 5500, and CM with 4xFSAA really IS stunning, and beats the Geforce hands down on this score. The Geforce 4x being equal to Voodoo 2x. Though my Geforce still does a pretty good job of removing some of the Jaggies, Sparklies and Crawlies. To sum up.... Either of these cards will do a good job for you, and handle all the graphic mods you can throw at them. I use the Hi-res grass, and a large amount of vehicle mods without any problems with either card. The Geforce with 4x is faster, but nothing can catch the Voodoo for quality. I have had this happen with some of the supplied scenarios as well..... One Long Cold Day placed a vehicle smack in the middle of an area surrounded by Woods.... Not a lot you can do about it. That Vehicles are there for the duration of the battle... At least it shouldn't end up as a casualty.

Yep... I'm afraid that 'sparklies', along with 'jaggies' and 'crawlies', are horrid graphic problems that 3d gamers have been putting up with for some time now. The only cure at the moment as TeAcH says, is Full Scene Anti Aliasing... Go get that Voodoo 5 card guys. There is another post on the previous tech support page regarding this. I posted a few quick pointers, as did a few others, and might be worth a look. Are you running any Win98 themes and funky mouse pointers (including animated) for instance? I'm finding the game VERY playable on my Voodoo 5, and 4xFSAA is well worth perservering for. I have just turned the resolution down slightly to 1152x864 to speed things up a little, as I have loaded a number of the graphics packs that are available. I do have the problem with minimizing, but then all I do is 'don't minimize'.

Danger!! Danger!! Newbie Alert!! So, having had my copy of CM for 7 days now, I immediatly downloaded the full PC graphics pack. I spent some time comparing the textures, coz I REALLY wasn't sure what to expect. But what can I say? You guys just work so hard just for our pleasure! To all concerned.
