  1. I've visited the website and saw nothing of this "hardcore" of which you speak? Is there a different site where I might find the smut I seek (for free?) All I saw was a bunch of stuff about Combat Mission this and Combat Mission that.... yada, yada, yada... The site was cool looking enough, and there were lots of events going on with members and such, and they even have one of the few places (if not the only place?) you can find a mod that makes a swamp look like a swamp! What the hell's a mod?.... Now, back to my original question, do I have to become a member to unlock this "hardcore"? Why do I have to go to so much trouble to see hardcore? Well, at least your site didn't ask for my credit card! Gotta be moving on... nothing to see at this site but ladders, and rankings, and screen shots, and quotes, and taunts, and discussions, and tournaments, and commeraderie..... Pshah, I say! Good Night!
  2. I feel I can trust my opponent, as I hope he can trust me. If we have to cheat to win, then what's the point? I play this game for the enjoyment, not because I feel the need to win at all costs... Who would know if we I took a peek, you ask? Well, I would! And that's good enough for me... Let's get it on!
  3. I concur with LuckyStrike. No gridlines with MDMP winter terrain. Last week I put on gunslingers and the winter terrains now have grids. Thanks for the info Matt, I'll check it out... It sucks having photorealistic terrain with grid lines running through it. If I want to see the terrain contour, I'll jump to view #1 and do it right!
  4. If Gore wins, one could only hope.... Like Rob said, Who cares, other than us Merkins? We have become a joke to the rest of the world as of lately anyway... May as well continue it... Whom of us from the US can be proud of the fine sportsmanship displays by our Olympic athletes? Now, the most democratic nation in the world can't even choose a leader without the lawyers and courts taking a swing... I'm disgusted... This is NOT what our founding fathers had in mind... ...As I climb down from my soapbox... we now return you to your regularly scheduled posting...

  6. I demand a recount! My INTENTION was to vote for NO, but I was confused and said 2000/2500 (ie, yes). I won't quiet down until I get what I want! Oh, wait! The NO's won.... Nevermind...
  7. Doesn't mean much Jadayne, I'm afraid. It's a quote from a paper written by a hacker detection paranoiac group. I got a chuckle out of it and some parts can be taken to infer PBEM type stuff... other than that, nada. I've referenced the website it's from, if you want more info.
  8. Hi all! I have 3 PBEM's playing at the moment (only because I haven't had more invites). I just got the full version a little over a week ago. Croaker (thanks) introduced me to my first PBEM last weekend and I've been consumed ever since! While I'm waiting for the next turn to show up (with email in the background, waiting for the little sound bite to play signaling a new incoming turn) I occupy my time playing the AI. I've downloaded all of Wild Bill's scenario's from the advice I've read on this forum (it's all true! gotta get 'em!) and I'm going down the scenario list in order. I'm just finishing up Chambois. I play both sides per scenario, always Allies first. When an email signals it's presence, I save my current scenario and get right on my next PBEM move, to return to the scenario following my email delivery. I figure I play at least 6 hours a night on weeknights (because I work 8-12 hours a day) and on weekends I play.... let's see, what's 2 times 24???? The other night I actually slept next to my computer with the sound turned up way loud so I would be awakened by my next incoming email turn... Am I sick, or what??? I'm only on the forum while I'm here at work. I can't play the game, so I keep up with what's going on. Sorry, but I don't have time for the forum when I have the opportunity to game... Dumped the wife of 17 years a few years ago because she didn't understand my need to game (among other things) and I'm in between girlfriends (the last one actually thought I should spend every night with her instead of gaming... ?!?!? haha. I must say this is one of the most intelligent, coherent, cognizant boards I've ever had the pleasure to be a part of... Great game!... Steve... Charles... (with an assist from Wild Bill and MadMatt) I hate you all!!!! (NO smiley used in interests of making this a more serious post.. otherwise, insert smiley here....) ------------------ "Some of the TRUE NAMES are BIG MACS and some are SMALL FRIES. 9. Thanks Tom, you turned me onto the chat at CMHQ and I'm just now starting a game with MkIX. Any intel? See ya in Oct!
  10. Well, kmead, it most certainly isn't a Mac only thing. I'm running on a WinTel (you can run games on the Mac?). ------------------ "Some of the TRUE NAMES are BIG MACS and some are SMALL FRIES. 11. Hey! Thanks Tom. Great advice. It makes terrific sense to me so I will most assuredly use the method you're prescribing. Happy hunting.... BTW, I've been lurking since I tried the demo a month or so ago (with the obvious upgrade path to full version immediately following...). You are one that I would consider a CM vet... How bout a round at PBEM so you can show me how soundly us newbie's may be thrashed, while allowing me to exercise my new found technique?
  12. Thanks guys, but I think the Doc answered it. No Jim, I know I didn't inadvertantly give it another reverse command. He drove straight into his doom, with his best face forward. I'm using 1.05, but I did indeed stretch out the "rotate to" selection to "ensure" that he was facing exactly where I wanted him to. Take this one to heart guys (and gals). Don't over extend your "rotate to" or baaaaaad things may happen. Well, if this is the only "problem" I encounter in playing this digital form of crack, then you guys at BTS will get away with a stern face directed in your general direction... breaking into a beaming, sh*t eating grin at the realization that I'm enjoying gaming Nirvana!!! Keep it up fellas! Bob
  13. PBEM match (my first...GOD I LOVE THIS GAME!!!) and observed something unexpected. I had maneuvered my Daimler SC behind a house due to the presence of multiple halftracks. Next turn had it reverse down a slope and out of site in front of a copse of tall pines. Set it to "rotate to" face an elevated road which would expose said halftracks to me should they venture down the road as they passed in front of the house. Well, surprise surprise, the Daimler starts up the hill following the path laid down by my "rotate to" command... Directly into the path of a green 'Shrekt team. One shot from 150m later, one dead Daimler. Now, I've used this "rotate to" command many times, but have never observed the unit to proceed along the path as if it were a move command. Is this normal or was this some type of fluke? It is my impression that the rotate to command doesn't involve any movement with the exception of spinning in place to face the indicated direction. Regardless, this is the most awesome game I've EVER had the pleasure of playing. Anyone that would venture a piece of Big Mac can bring it... I don't mind playing allies at all either...
  14. Ahhhh, G.I. Combat... LOVED IT! I would gather glass pop bottles for the deposit ($0.05) to directly invest in the next issue. I still have 'em. DANG! Just had a wave of nostalgia... I'll have to dig them out and give them another read. Perhaps learn tactics I can relate to in my next CM scenario! Don't forget Weird War (have every issue), Sgt. Rock, The Losers (All of these too), WWII Combat, 5 star Combat, etc.... (edit) Almost forgot The Unknown Soldier! [This message has been edited by bigmac (edited 09-11-2000).]
