  1. One really dumb thing the AI does is to put all its attacking troops in one place. When attacking the AI tries to achieve a narrow front attack by putting a company or more in a single group of trees. Needless to say this makes them easy to kill off with heavy artillery.
  2. I'm thinking the warantee ran out only a week ago.
  3. I was playing a scenario and one of my trucks got stuck on a railroad track. After being immoblized for about a turn, the crew eventually abandoned the vehicle. Crazily enough they were shaken by the trauma.
  4. Allied tanks aren't good enough for you eh? I just played a quick battle and the allied tanks were invisible! I realised I was facing some stealthy enemies when one of my AT guns managed to destroy something invisible causing it to burn. It turned out that all the allied vehicles were invisible, but my units could still target them on their own. To add insult to injury my own vehicles were also invisible and i couldn't use them. So I think the allied tanks are actually unbalanced, being invisible and all.
  5. How could a single german rifleman take out a pershing and a sherman jumbo, both over 120-200 meters away. Distraction. Apparently this single infantryman was such a tempting target that both crews decided they wanted to risk turning their tanks so the rear faced some german armor. Although this is a fairly rare occuance it would be nice if the AI placed a high priority on armored targets and a very low priority and infantry sqauds that had only a guys or 2 left.
  6. I noticed when I was playing Le Lorey Barkman had a sherman siting about 30m infront of him firing at him and he ignored it for about 15 seconds. I guess he was trying to see how pissed off I could get.
  7. But see the Shermans would operate under the same principle and the final result would be less one sided.
  8. Both sides were Elites. The reason for choosing nashorns and fireflys was I had been seeing what german tanks could stand up to Fireflys in a straight shoot out. After being frustrarted with the Germans seeming inability to hit the British I decided to give each tank a target rather than let them choose their own.
  9. I created a scenario with 28 Nashorns facing off against 28 fireflys. Both sides tanks were in a straight line in open ground with no hills or other terrain variations. I played this three times just hitting the 'GO' button and three times giving the nashorns specific targets(namely the tank directly across from them) The three times I didn't assign the Germans targets resulted in all the Nashorns being destroyed each time and allied losses of 13,14,and 13 fireflys. When I gave the Germans specific targets it resulted in all the Germans being killed and allied losses of 21, 20, and 28 tanks. I don't know what is happening, but it seems the AI was problems assigning good targets.
  10. I am playing a PBEm game and getting my arse firmly kicked because my infantry would rather shoot at a mortar team 300m away walking through woods than stay hidden. I basically was completely screwed because my units refused to hold their fire. I hope they improve this in CM2.
  11. Maybe your mortar guys just don't have the 'moxy' to take out those gun postions. [This message has been edited by Time (edited 08-21-2000).]
  12. The 128mm shells for the Jagdtiger where hard to load because they came in two parts, but the Jagdtiger has a normal rof, Combat mission no longer the best Strategy game!
  13. I've always loved the villian, the bad guy, or antagonist. Probably because subconsiously I want to lose.
  14. I got frustrated playing this scenario when my panther's barrel was practically touching (no kidding, it was about half a meter away) and it refused to fire, not once but twice this refusal to fire got me killed.
  15. I was really pissed when I got a foot hold on the other side of the bridge on the first day, and I couldn't deploy troops there when night fell. As to your observation, I know what you mean. Defending the bridge is mere childs play.
  16. I had a "elite" tank shoot at a squad while a sherman drove right through boacage within 5m of it and blew the crap out of my tank. A fix for this might be telling the tank to ignore infantry or armor targets depending on what you needed.
  17. vehicles seem to be a little overzealous in speeding towards their waypoints after seeing an extremely dangerous enemy unit aiming thier way.
