Who uses scouts? Everyone except me?
virtualfreak replied to joeski's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I beleive that when you use a platoon as scout you should treat that platoon as if it were your last platoon. Move one squad of men forward at a time using the other squads as a reserve. When your lead squad is attacked you can then ambush the enemy by using the other squads you had in the platoon. It's slow but it does work to a degree. -

The War To End All Wars " WW I "
virtualfreak replied to Warmonger's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
I Just had a thread on this same subject. I too would love to see some WW1 expansion scenarios and mods. Too many people think ww1 was nothing more than suicidal human wave assults. 1914 had some Huge battles for example, the Russian campaign into east prussia had the potintial to be successfull but they were poorly lead. Do I need to mention the desisive battles on the western front of that year? -

What about the first world war?
virtualfreak replied to virtualfreak's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
The reason why I brought this subject up was because I believe that the CM engine can reproduce a lot of diffrent and diverse battles of diffrent wars it can go well beyond WW2. I mean just imagine it, With just a few mod changes we could use the CM engine to recreat the charge up San Juan hill or the Tet offensive. -
What about the first world war?
virtualfreak replied to virtualfreak's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
What about the Russian campaign into Prussia in 1914? There was alot of maneauver in that camaingn although the russian armies were practicly destroyed. -
What about the first world war?
virtualfreak replied to virtualfreak's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Yea but there were alot of those on the Russian front in ww2. -
That AI can sure be challenging eh?
-
Ok I know the first world war was not about maneuver, I also know that on the western front the two sides would basicly lob arty at each other all day. But wouldent it be cool though if BTS realeased a Mod or a patch that included some of the larger and more famous ww1 battles? ex. The somme, Verdon, Beluwood, ect.

I saw Stalingrade and I can tell you now that I did NOT see any sex scenes that would make the movie rated X. Stalingrade is acctually kinda of a disturbing movie. It's very weird but there are no nude scenes as far a I can remember.
-
This may be off topic but because im attending high school right now I see first hand how neglected American schools are. None of my friends know how much I know about ww2 and to be honest the most they know about it is what they saw in Saving Privat Ryan.

US WW2 inferiority Complex 101...
virtualfreak replied to PzKpfw 1's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
One example that the Americans did fight heroicly in WW2 is the battle of the Bulge. German high command expected St.Vith to fall on the first day of the attack. St.Vith didn't fall into German hands until Dec 21st and only due to Massive German numerical superiority. Just something to think about.
