  1. I have purchased a lot of software in my day - I am an old guy =P Combat Mission, although I have not been playing it much lately waiting for the 1.1 patch, represents one of the best values in a game purchase I have ever had. Thanks for the commitment to the product and to customers. That's unfortunately rare these days. Well Done BTS.
  2. yea, yeah, yeah i want the file =P have it posted to cmHQ so that all who need it can get it seems like the best thing. would be great, much appreciated, thanks.
  3. www.cdmag.com had a preview saying it was possibly the best wargame ever. i downloaded the 1.02 demo and bought the game about an hour later.
  4. heh.. hate to sound like a grognard here... but... is this historically accurate? or just cool looking?
  5. heh not much help now... but ... 1. if you are going to piss off hackers, dont run windows 98, try and run 2k if you can and try to lock it down 2. run a personal firewall at ALL times. i use black ice defender located at: http://www.networkice.com/ 3. hire someone to assist in locking down your box if you can't do it yourself to a degree you are comfortable with sorry to hear about your misfortune, it's a real pain in the ass. and btw.. the site is outstanding. 6. yeah i have to say that's amazing support. this game has had 2 substantial patches since i bought it a month ago. sometimes decent games dont get that many patches in their lifetime. great support, thanks. keep em coming... looking forward to TCP play.
  7. i am an irish guy living in canada and in the process of moving to holland with my croatian wife =P so i think i get one for each country? if i have to pick one, it's canada
  8. i played some CC4 recently while waiting for my CMBO to arrive. I had previously played CC2 and 3. CMBO is definitley a mroe accurate simulation of battle with far superior AI than CC. Where I think CMBO needs to improve to be able to move more gamers from CC to CMBO: - graphics, CC is much nicer looking - UI, CC is much more polished, CMBO is pretty rough around the edges, and also breaks some conventions with other similar games (ESC key action, no CTRL-# grouping, etc) - campaigns, while CC is pretty lame with it's campaigns they are somewhat interesting to play and CMBO could be really interesting with a campaign engine - real time... this is debatable as the detail of CMBO would be hard to be effective with in real time, however real time is a lot of fun just my $0.02
  9. thanks very much for the info.. heh i didnt even notice the tech forum. read the thread there. i tested teh game on an A20P Thinkpad in the store and it appeared to run fine, althoug i only played for 5 minutes. sold i am now the proud owner of an A20P. In effect i spent an extra $2000 CDN to play combat mission. don't mention that to the wife - i'll end up like mussolini. thanks again for the help.
  10. i am really enjoying this game. however i have to hit the road for a while and want to know if the game will / is running on anyone's laptop? it does not work very acceptably on my wife's sony vaio i think primarily due to wimpy vram. i am buying a new laptop and am considering the high end IBM A20 because it has 16MB vram on an ATI Rage 128, which seems to be the best video on any laptop. Can anyone let me know if they have had any luck getting CM to work on a laptop of *any* configuration? Thanks.
  11. do i want tcp/ip play? DUH! ic CM and Close Combat were merged it would be the ultimate wargame for my preferences. A real time version of CM with campaigns and IP multiplay would be totally amazing.
