  1. Nice work. Will this also be uploaded to the Battlefront repository? I don't have an account for the other site.
  2. 900C here today. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.
  3. Thank you for indirectly making my point. As soon as Mr. Cater singles out one resource to include the debate begins on why other perhaps equally important resources were not included. I agree with his decision to abstract them all. You don't, but at least Mr. Cater is not forced to spend his limited design time justifying why certain resources were included and others were not. Edited for the spelling nazis. Apologies to Mr. Cater. [ June 25, 2007, 06:38 PM: Message edited by: Elmo ]
  4. IMHO it's acceptable to abstract oil along with other resources given the overall simplicity of the game design. If you track oil separately then you start down the slippery slope of needing to track other items that are critical to the war machine like ball bearings, rubber, etc.
  5. Any chance we will see an updated PDF version of the manual now that this expansion is coming out and there have been a half dozen patches?
  6. A somewhat related question: There is a campaign event that says if the Allies DOW Greece then Turkey gets a push toward the Axis. I would think just the opposite. Didn't the Turks and Greeks hate each other? If so I would think the Allies DOW'ing Greece would please the Turks and be an incentive for them to consider joining the Allies. Edit - I checked the scripts and it does look like the Turks lean toward the Allies if they DOW Greece so the manual must be out of date. [ June 23, 2007, 03:11 AM: Message edited by: Elmo ]
  7. I also just picked up SC2 rather than CEAW and will be starting a game soon with a long time gaming buddy.
  8. I read mustang's post wrong and thought he just picked up SC2. No demo for CEAW that I'm aware of.
  9. Never mind [ June 20, 2007, 06:25 AM: Message edited by: Elmo ]
  10. According to the manual only units in the home country count so his Navy may not have been factored in unless they were in home ports.
  11. Have to agree with the OP. Played the training mission in the demo where we have to take a series of trench lines. Whle I was still trying to get my infantry to the first hill in front of the enemy trench I got a message that the mission was accomplished! WTF?! Seems one of my tank crews took it upon themselves to rush the trench line and wipe out the defenders without any orders to do so. So I gave them each a medal and then shot them all for disobeying orders. This game is not for me I guess.
  12. Guess I'll fiddle around with the demo and wait for this to happen before plunking down my money. Edit - Not trying to restart the debate on what is obvioulsy a touchy subject. Just providing feedback to the developer and publisher on why they aren't getting my money at this time. [ April 21, 2007, 04:19 AM: Message edited by: Elmo ]
  13. I have not been following this game at all. Just downloaded the demo to check it out. Will have to search the threads here but if troops can't enter building then this can not be considered a serious tactical simulation. Beer and pretzels maybe.
  14. OK, I stand corrected. To be honest I didn't believe you until after restarting the tutorial several times to finally get weather conditions that allowed Luftflotte I to reach Oslo.
  15. Slightly off topic but I didn't want to start a whole new thread for this. There are a few typos in the new tutorial on Axis turn 1: "Now click on the Oslo Corps and note that its readiness is about 33% and morale is about 50%. Assuming the weather in Denmark is clear, select Luftflotte I and left click on Oslo to attack it. Air Fleets inflict a 30% morale loss and are very useful for softening up targets prior to ground assault. The Oslo Corps should suffer some strength, readiness and morale losses. This is another important morale feature. If the weather is not clear and the strike range is reduced, then watch for this morale effect with other air attacks." I believe the references to Oslo should be to Copenhagen. Luftflotte I can't reach Oslo.
  16. Interesting. This is how Galactic Civivilization 2 works. More AI scrips are added at higher difficulty levels so the AI actually plays better as opposed to just getting bonuses. I'm sure many of us would love to see something similar in SC2.
  17. Does the AI play better at higher levels or is it only an adjustment to combat/production or other factors? Thanks.
  18. Thank you. Edit - The manual looks very comprehensive. Just what I needed for another try with the demo. [ April 05, 2006, 06:42 AM: Message edited by: Elmo ]
