  1. Neither of these Vista patches made any difference in CMSF for me. Still getting a poor framerate with the 8800. Oh well, may have to wait for 1.03...
  2. I'll try this tonight to see if it helps. If anyone is interested there's another Vista "performance and reliability" patch was released by MS today too: Vista Performance and Reliability Patch I haven't yet tried this or the one mentioned above, so I don't know if they will have any affect on CMSF.
  3. I already have it on the advanced view and it's still not there. I'm not sure if this means it's off anyways? I wish I could at least try this setting because I'm only getting about 10 FPS right now.
  4. I have a dual core Pentium 4 2.8Ghz CPU and a Nvidia 8800 GTS running under Vista, but for some reason in my control panel the "Threaded Optimization" option isn't listed? I'm running the latest 162.22 drivers, and I've seen the screenshot so i know exactly where this option should be. I also tried the 163.11 beta drivers, but I had the same problem. I can see both parts of the dual core in task manager, so it seems that Windows is definitely recognizing both cores. I've tried the Nvidia forums and Nvidia tech support, but no one has been able to give me an answer as to why this option isn't available for me. Has anyone else ran into this problem? Any suggestions?
  5. Good news, I'll try to be patient. This game is currently a slideshow on my 8800 GTS. Looks really fun though, I can't wait to give it a spin with a decent framerate.
  6. Alright, I'm interested. Where can I download these mods?
  7. I have heard from a source working at BTS that CM2 will be closely modeled after the Atari 2600 game Combat's tank battles.
  8. I vote NO.. I would rather see the time spent adding more important features like UFO's that can fire lasers at tanks, and cyborg robots that can join the fight.. Maybe even a Mario style side scrolling "jumper" mini game? Any comments BTS? [This message has been edited by Tobe (edited 08-08-2000).]
  9. This is rediculous. It's obvious that not everyone wants a roster. But I also think it appears that ENOUGH people want it to make it a worth while addition. I can't fathom how it would actually bother some people it it was an *optional* list. If you like playing the game it is now, DON'T POP UP THE LIST! Some of these battles are so huge it would be really nice IMHO if I could find my spotter real quick. As for making the game unrealistic, that is just crap, there are so many elements of this game that are not realistic in the way it controls, this would be minor in comparison. The realism is in the way that action is played out and inacted by the TacAI.
  10. Ok, how about a squad of Miny Ditkas versus the entire German Army? I'd have to say complete Ditka victory in just 2 days. **hollld on, just having another heart attack**
  11. I think a roster would be a great help. For those who don't like it, don't use it! In some of these large scenarious it's too easy to lose your spotters etc. And what's this about making the game unrealistic? I don't see anyone complaining about the fact that you can spend and hour contemplating a turn that would normally have to a be split second descision. Nobody complains that you can spin the camera around the battlefield, that's unrealistic. I think compared to these things having a roster of your units seems very realistic.
  12. I have never been able to get the fog to work at all on the ATI 128 All-In-Wonder Card. I have even tried on another computer which has an ATI Rage Pro and all that appears is a white screen on any map with fog. It appears that everyone with these types of ATI cards have this problem. Fog seems to work in every other game I have, I'd rather not get a new card just for one game. Is there a chance this will ever be patched or are we SOL? Thanks, Tobe
  13. I think updated graphics with REAL lighting effects would be a great addition, and a smart move for Battlefront. If this game stayed exactly the same, but had graphics closer to something like Ground Control it would be attractive to a MUCH larger audience (more than just us WW2 geeks and wargamers ) IMHO. True, gameplay is more important, but given the success of this game I think some better graphics can probably be affored. I would personally love to see a night time battle with mortars lighting up the whole area for an instant, and explosions illuminating the battleground. I'd love to see tanks laying tracks on some terrain, and kicking up a little dust behind them. Those details can really help a great game like this feel even more immersive. Just my $0.02
  14. Downloading a pirated piece of software and being a major supplier of pirated software are two EXTREMELY different things. Plus the guy did pay for the game for gawds sake, this is such a trivial issue. Anyways I say let he who has never copied a game, music cd, or movie from a friend in his/her life cast the first stone... - Why isn't anyone throwing anything???
  15. Ok, I'm using the ATI All-in-Wonder 32mb video card. And the smoke effects look very good and translucent, however when I rotate the camera sometimes the smoke effects change to be non-translucent (and far more ugly). They always seem to be translucent when I'm up close, but when I zoom out a bit the suddenly jump to being non transparent smoke. Is this what is supposed to happen? I would think it should always be translucent because it just looks so ugly the other way.
