  1. I'd vote with my dollars for PTO CM today if I could. There are plenty of possibilities to explore, including actions in continental Asia. I hope BTS will reconsider their expansion plan and find room for the PTO sooner rather than later.
  2. The best and worst times of my life were in the Army. As were encounters with the best and worst people I have known. I do not regret my service for a second although it nearly cost me my family life. It sounds as if you are wisely keeping your eyes open and fully considering your options. If I may offer you one bit of advice of a different nature: after you have made your choice, whatever it is and however it turns out, be sure to maintain a positive attitude and outlook. Don't allow others with poor attitudes to bring you down or affect your work. If you can remain enthusiastic in spite of all obstacles I'm sure you will be happy and successful in your endeavors. Good luck!
  3. WBW, Want to let you know I had a lot of fun playing your SPR scenario. Due to some luck and unforseen circumstances (setting fire to some buildings with bazooka backblasts denied the enemy a good axis of advance) I managed a major victory and denied both objectives to the Germans. The HQ group took no casualties, so I also saved Pvt. Ryan. Without presenting any spoilers I think the key to this one is springing a devastating ambush and finding defensive positions with very short lines of fire. That said, against a human I don't see how the allies can win this one. Has anyone managed it vs. a competent German opponent? One question, WB, why is the Alamo so barren? A building or two down there would be great for defending the bridge. Thanks WB! (edit to fix typo) [This message has been edited by Lebo (edited 08-05-2000).]
  4. Hiya Greybeard, glad Rookie over at GG helped introduce you to CM. Its a special game. I did my own time with the US Army in Germany and in the Gulf for Desert Storm, 87-91. IntelWeenie, look for an email. We may have some mutual acquaintances. (Edit to fix typo) [This message has been edited by Lebo (edited 08-04-2000).]
  5. The book "199 Days" about the battle of Stalingrad describes the sniper duel and refers to the German sniper as Thorvald. FWIW this book supposedly relied heavily on Soviet sources. I suggest you make your own decision on its reliability.
  6. Wild Bill, It was the original version of the scenario as Rookie has said. *****SPOILER***** The Mortar carriers and Priests start at the left end of the US line, in open ground, in view of a German 75mm IG. In our game an arty duel immediately broke out during which a Priest and the IG were put out of action. Would you consider moving these assets so they do not have an LOS at the start of the game (that is, unless you intend the game to start with a gun duel).
  7. Wild Bill, *****SPOILER WARNING***** Thanks for the fix. In an ongoing PBEM game those 4 Tigers entered the map right into the guns of 2 Pershings (one TC'd by you!). 20 seconds later scratch four Tigers. Would you consider changing the start positions of the US mortar carriers and Priests too? The first turn they get shot up by the German gun.
