  1. I think they just bailed. Imagine sitting in an unmoving, unarmed steel chest in the middle of a battle field. The sensible thing to do is to try to sneak away, don't you think? Crew's bad luck was that the 50cal was behind them, else they could have escaped. C.
  2. Or you can bypass the CD protection scheme one way or another. Illegal, but the only good way to play the game for us laptop owners. C.
  3. The Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. L was a cat, the Luchs we all love. Another version of the PanzerII was named Leopard, but never put in production. see http://www.achtungpanzer.com/leo.htm Pz.Kpfw. VII Löwe (Lion) was on the drawing table. See http://members.tripod.com/~fingolfen/superheavy/lowe.html Of course, they had the Puma, but that doesn't count as a tank.
  4. Sure. It MUST be a troll. Nobody can be so (insert favourite word for mentally challenged here) as Mr. Paton appears, in real life. But it's kind of entertaining, so whoever you are, keep them posts coming. C.
  5. Me too hates metoo-posts. But just can't help it. Can you give it to me too, Rune? thanx C.
  6. Once again I point to my Panther vs Canadians page. (Hope this work?) This was v1.05, and grenades might be harder to use against vehicles in v1.12? C.
  7. I discovered CM just before release, and never had the opportunity to enjoy the various alpha/beta versions you veterans played. Is it possible to find one of these somewhere? Would be nice to see more of the evolution of the game in production. C.
  8. Again I point to my photo short story at http://home.no.net/catullus/cmbo/panther1.html At pic 4 you clearly see the middle grunt (left-handed) throw a grenade. C.
  9. I would absolutely love it. As a NATO recon ranger educated in the middle of the '80s, Soviet weapons and vehicles from that epoch are the weapons I know. Maybe artillery, choppers and fighters would be more important than in CM, but now even infantry squad would have AA capabilities. And never forget, in any war, any unit is either a grunt, or a support unit. The war will still be won or lost by the infantryman. C.
  10. You guys haven't tried that patch? I got it last week. It works OK, 105 artillery now kill pillboxes more easily than in 1.05, but still not as easy as in 1.00. On the other hand, tanks wait considerably shorter than in 1.05 before swinging turret to cut down crews. This must be fixed. C.
  11. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Doug Beman: you just zip it through the network to the other player. <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> Of course, best practice before tcp/ip would be to use one of the computers as file server (turn on file sharing, share a folder and map that folder on the other PCs for use as common save/load area). C.
  12. Or better: Make an area. By dragging a rectangle with the mouse, you'll mark every friendly unit in the area. Or is it all units under your command? (Dead units are not marked, don't know about captured and broken ones.) Whatever, area select should do it, then you can shift-click to deselect in case you marked too many. C.
  13. 12 seconds of suspense! Illustrated story at http://home.no.net/catullus/cmbo/panther1.html C.
  14. So, original poster always plays with realistic unit scale? When playing any other scale, it's not even theoretically possible to have true graphic representation of the math/physical model. C.
  15. The truth about Hazel: http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/Quarters/7210/ I think he's pretty much read in Finland. Leses han fortsatt i Norge? C.
