I have a question: Its been awhile, but weren't captured units suspectible to friendly fire in CMBO? I swore that some of my units would get captured, and after my rifle infantry would fire in their direction they would die. Im guessing theyre not open to ballistic fire in CMBB either, as I've tried many times to waste them using area fire with machine guns...

quote:
Originally posted by Specterx: Where did this pic come from? Can't be CMBB since its Germans vs. British... Maybe BTS has an upgrade planned for CMBO that incorporates CMBB features.. that'd be nice.

Its just regular CM with some heavy duty mods.

Gamey Edge Huggers
securityguard replied to -Havermeyer-'s topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
edge hugging is nearly impossible to avoid if youre trying to flank. if every game had both sides in a stale mate over a VL it would be the boringest piece of hell ive ever played. why is edge hugging gamey? because of the fact the edges are there. if they were not, flanks would be even wider. hell, you could go across the friggin map, turn, then hit them directly from the rear. if anything, edges are a good thing. -
Hardest fighting you've ever seen in CM ?
securityguard replied to Hensworth's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
one time i had a smg platoon with a stealth bonus, and i wanted to see how many kills i could get with it running around flanking people. i had 25+ per squad (and the hq got 9), but i lost a entire squad and the rest were pretty battered i won that battle to say the least -
How do I get out of minefields?
securityguard replied to Ezmartini's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
tell your infantry to run around in circles over and over. to reduce routing split the squad and get hq away from the squad -
Better Sharpshooters for the Soviets?
securityguard replied to Gyrene's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
better stealth? the sharp shooters already can run right across a pack of enemy infantry and nearly be unseen. we dont need to make them invisible -

will CM2 model infantry better?

quote:
Originally posted by Kestrl: [QB]I'm sure it will be more detailed but you won't see all twelve guys on the battlefield .

rats. well my only other real big concern is the lack of terrain types. so lets hope they add a lot more of those. -
will it be more detailed? will we be able to see every little guy out there fighting their hearts out?

why are the allies such crap?
securityguard replied to securityguard's topic in Combat Mission Archive #3 (2001)
QB's dont take place in 2000m landscapes. they take place in small grids and if you ever have a long range fight, its usually at the start when you got a clear LOS across the map by the way, Im not new (been playing since september, check profile), and germans are so superior its incredible you people could babble about how they're not. I can beat just about any one with germans. thats how I win in CM [This message has been edited by securityguard (edited 02-25-2001).] -
any way you could possibly make the rifle teams 20 points cheaper? I swear to god, every time I play CM (im always forced allies, because I always get stuck with a asshole who has a name like "SS_LEADER_COGERMANPANZERDIVISION_HERZ" that wants to be german side) multiplayer all they ever do is buy 5 SMG squads and the best tanks and whatever else they can buy with points alotted left. if you havent noticed, rifles do nothing compared to SMG's. SMG's are good at almost any range, and it doesnt really matter if rifles can shoot across the map, because you're not going to hit anything anyways. plus the damage associated with the rifles is outrageous, you can spend your entire 'ammo' shooting at a squad and only kill maybe 2 per squad, if your lucky. While american squads get ripped up so easily. I also cant stand the fact that if your squad gets routed \ panicked \ whatever.. the entire squad moves. I know i know, it doesnt model each soldier, but its absolutely insane when you have 11 guys pinned. I mean, all 11 guys pinned down? Couldnt some at least panic fire??? of course, im going to get a lot of "LAUGH OUT LOUD OYU JUST NEED TO BE BETTER AND LEARN HOW TO USE THE ALLIES" - unless friggin lucky charms him self kisses my ass, I wont be any better. the game is total luck, and some tactical involvement when you try to figure out when to rush the flags on certain turns. thats just about it. Tank battles are merely who can get hit first. so please, kill some points off allied infantry sincerely, securityg

I won't point out how much of a *insert pretty bad word, something the mod would probably bleep* Elijah is, but i will answer his\her questions 1. 4 turns. they're fast (edit: depends on map greatly. and if you gather crews that are closer the situation. this wouldn't work on operations) 2. they're not exactly trying to gain ground, they're fodder. the manual for the game says "they come out broken yadda yadda so you can't abuse them". well, thats abunch of poppycock. Love, SecurityGuard [This message has been edited by securityguard (edited 10-19-2000).]

The crew party by: Security "gamey" Guard Ok, wait awhile for the battle to slow up (maybe half way in turn wise), and gather all your tank crews and put them in one big area. You should have at *least* 5 crews. if not more. Now, find a place on the map where your troops are being murdered viciously by 'something'. 'something' can be a tank, other troops, what ever. Take your crews and advance them to that area CAREFULLY, they are very moralish idiots and run away fast. when you got them near that area, rush 3 on 'something''s left, and 2 on the right. that 'something' will get extremely confused. I've had times where the AI borked out completely, targetting left, then right, then left again, while my troops shot them down like dogs. and if the crews live, they can score free kills. I use this tactic a lot. It ruins peoples games who want to be serious. Sincerely, Guard

friendly fire stuff

i find that pretty goofed that a command hq wouldn't know where his own men are 2 minutes withen in the battle
