  1. Thanks for this. It seemed to be a long 1 1/2 hours, but I thought he had some good points that reflected what I know of Soviet style warfare.
  2. Thank you for an entertaining series of photos and comments nicely done.
  3. I also think that when it comes to 'disposable' and mobile labour, people tend to store their knowledge, rather than disseminate it. Perhaps the people involved in the original fabrication of the material were expecting to be retained at a later date to manufacture replacements. Another issue is information storage. The original specs and processes might be stored on an outdate storage media, or use software designed to run on a dead operating system. This kind of issue is becoming more prevalent, as I'm now involved in a project (very tiny) that rotted for four years, and the same hardware is no longer available, the linux distro died years ago and storage media like Flashdrives have come along in leaps and bounds. It'd be interesting to see just where the fabrication process broke down.

    The end

I preferred the version with the Benny Hill theme
  5. Nothing quite like forming 2 jump suit teams, blowing holes in each side of a UFO and storming in to blow aliens into tiny chunks. I spent way too many hours playing these games
  6. Hi Guys, Long time Battlefront customer, and I play SC along with a few beers, seems to be a perfect accompaniment. Having just bought SC2 for the Patton Drives East, I've been playing some of the WAW scenarios to get my hand back in, and it's still the fun game it's always been. My question (of course) is about the main Patton Drives East campaign, which I started the other night. Out of the blue I get a wonderful message "Volunteer Armour Corp formed", and some nice units popped up in the USA. Not entirely surprising to find spare tanks eh? What I'd like are some suggestions as to what I'd do with them. I'm currently split on their final deployment. The Soviets drove out of Iran to capture Iraq, but they seem to be holding, although I did see a HQ unit park down there, so I guess they have further designs on my oil. As I can't generate local units, should I send these guys here, or throw them into the furnace that is Poland? I'm starting to slow down on my Eastern Drive, pushing to Warsaw and a side thrust into the other Warsaw Pact nations. I love the bomber support I've been given Unfortunately I havn't been able to eliminate the Russian Airforce, they keep withdrawing, and reinforcements are beginning to appear. I'm stilll buying American units, and there's a steady stream of them making their way to unload into Eastern Germany, to potentially start forming a front to hold down the Russians if they're able to form en masse. So, any suggestions on what other people have done with them? Invade Finland?
  7. I've always thought that the main reason to choose a red force like Syria and not the CIS is the amount of hardware available, the multiple terrain possibilities, and the hardware/software required to genearate and successfully run those simulations. What we get over time is better hardware, refined software techniques and models. So eventually, you might get what you want, provided of course, that Charles doesn't escape his jar.
  8. Hmm, for so many years people kept asking for a 'modern' CM, and you guys tried so hard to deliver I have to say I'm half and half with Shock Force. Like Xcom Apocalypse (lobster game), I find the real time the way to play it, but I don't play multiplayer (unlike CM1), which, given my occasional horrific losses in QB's somewhat merciful I'll be in line to buy the next module, as I can't wait see what marines do At the risk of sounding like a fanboy, I love your continued investment in your product, even if I can't run CM1 any more (that's new hardware for you).
  9. Sitting here on a Friday Afternoon in Brisbane, Oz. I find I'm checking my email about every 10 mins
  10. Is this the 5 minute argument, or the full 1/2 hour?
  11. Pounds aren't too bad either, shipped Silent Storm over cheaper than it might ever appear here. Waiting for a TURN too [ November 20, 2003, 12:49 AM: Message edited by: PD ]
  12. The Mirror Links are in another thread by Matt, right here!
  13. Are you using some form of Internet Connection sharing? A little more info may be in order.
  14. I've done that now I didn't realise that until I went looking for the version number, I thought I'd already put them in. It sounded like something I'd already heard of, and I couldn't find the patch list in this forum. (it's in the CMBB forum) Hasn't happened again since the install.
  15. I'm currently playing the Sevastapol scenario & I'm runnning into a bug I can't find any onfo on. Basically the game plays, and then I lose the mouse, which can appear in the top third of the screen as a flickering rectangle. What's worse is that when I manage to quit out of the game, my desktop is out of range, with my refresh rate or something being magically changed. This all recovers after a reboot & scandisk, but it's a major pain. Is this a known bug & will the first mighty patch snot it? Mech spec 1Ghz Athlon 32Mb Geoforce2 MX (running the original drivers ) Win 98.
  16. I'm still learning, but for my tastes, armour cover arcs are the best thing to hit CM. Ambush, ambush, Ambush And Machine Guns. Handy to have.
  17. Well, one replacement CMBB CD later, still no CMBO disk. Thanks Battlefront.
  18. Fell asleep watching it too Got CMBB today! One of the bad batch though Luckily there are workaround files to get me going. Off to the front!
  19. The only thing to look forward to tonight is the Hitler channel showing the 'True' story of BlackHawk Down. :/
  20. Not so. Mine should 3 cds, replacement CMBO, CMBB & SC. I have the feeling I won't see mine for a while, it'll be heavier, and the pigeon will need to stop a few times.
  21. I mentioned this last time & it turned up. (Looks to the South)
