It worked for me yesterday as well.

I tried the fix and I'm still getting the error.

You make that sound like a bad thing... ahhhh, the good old days... As for the rest of it, now I'm doomed to wishing it were Monday. It's like a nightmare I can't wake up from.

Yes please!

Very excited about the patch... but didn't see anything about an MP lobby. Is that going to be in?

Thank goodness! Very good news. This game has more untapped potential than any I've seen in ages. That said, I'll add to the 'is this in' list: Anything on the 'end game'. Still sometimes struggle with the 'hunt the enemy to the last man' thing.

Second that! A lot to love about this game... just needs to some TLC.

Had the same problem here: Voices overlapping Hangs shortly after that. Removing the AMD optimizer fixed the sound issue and makes the game playable. Still hangs intermittently. AMD 64 X2 3800+ 7600GT XP Pro SP2

I agree with your take. Smaller battles would be very cool and the game does seem ripe for 'em. I've been playing the full game some and so far the scenarios have tended to be fairly large. I think once the modders get cranking the trend will be smaller. Also, there may be smaller battles in the full game that I'm missing.

I'm basically with PSY. I'd prefer WWII but really any other modern conflict (from say the Spanish Civil War forward), aside from the current Middle East setting, would be great. I'll buy the game as soon as it's released but I'm still a bit disappointed with the subject matter of CM:SF. Just a little too immediate.

M Hofbauer: In the case of one of the posters (Billybob) there was a threat of violence. Sounds bannable to me. As for the others, I think there was a clear pattern of abuse. I'd read all their posts before judging too harshly. As a long time lurker, I've seen some heated debates but it appears that the demeanor of these posters was unusually harsh by Battlefront standards. I'm not sorry they're gone. They were given PLENTY of rope.

Yea, I get it. You're a victim. Honestly, I resent being called a 'fanboy' for daring to see the good in this game along with what needs fixing. If there are problems with pathing or LOS it doesn't follow that it needs to be scrapped. Also, those that have been very vocally bashing this game give themselves way too much credit if they believe that they are responsible for patching. Spare me.

Thanks for the update Moon. There have been several posts mentioning the perfection of CM and implying it was that way out of the box... the 12-13 patch for CMBO comment is definitely something that the angry posters need to keep in mind.

I guess I don't do enough time on forums. Is this kind of hating common? I see the same group of people all over these boards beating the same drum about how 'broken' the game is and then quickly descending into insults. The game is playing well and is far from broken. If you guys hate it so much then move on to a game you like. I think this game is good and believe it will soon be great. My only fear is a few motivated posters are going to scare potential customers away from a good war game that will only get better.

What about a mission coding forum? or Why this is a Geek's game.

Very nice! One of the many reasons I think this game has tremendous potential. -
Are my soldiers stupid? Or are they just programmed that way?

Honestly, I realize this game is not complete; however, if one is a fan of the genre and has hope for the game's promise, please don't refer to them as "brain dead"... this type of comment is getting tired. This is a small market game, created by a small group of developers. This level of abuse should be reserved for EA and their ilk. I think a year from now, this may be the ultimate game. Even if it's not, it's worth a $53 gamble... what I'm into it for. I'm at about 6 times that for ASL and haven't played in years. I think of this as a work in progress and comment accordingly. This is a breakthrough project and one that I hope is nurtured. Offer constructive critisism and don't bury this project before it has a chance to take root. -
Unlicensing - Admin Priv Issue
Smoke replied to aleader's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
Excellent! Thanks so much. I am planning big changes (I like the game that much) and will need a reformat. I did see the option you outline in the FAQ but I didn't try it for fear of unlicensing at the moment I executed. Now I see the error in my ways. -
So far I'm quite impressed though there's some things that could be improved. I don't see a deal killer. For the record, I loved CC and didn't care for GI Combat. In this game unit path finding needs some help and default orders could use some tweaking. That said, I think Battlefront has a proven track record of supporting their products and I'm fine being in on the ground floor on this project. I haven't found many games this complex that I love from the start. Enduring the learning curve isn't the most enjoyable part of these games. I feel this one deserves a little patience.

Unlicensing - Admin Priv Issue
Smoke replied to aleader's topic in Theatre of War Tech Support Forum
Are you sure? I'm alittle paranoid about this process because the FAQ seems to suggest that uninstalling without unlicensing could cost me one of my two installs. I'm upgrading my system and waiting for the parts to arrive. I'll need to make this work shortly but I also do not have the elicense control panel and I've worked through all the suggestions in the FAQ. A little frustrated. -
I'm a little puzzled by this thread. For those on the fence, my rig is pretty close to the minimum (P4 2.8, 1gig Ram, Geforce 5700fx) and it ran the demo fine. I found a few minor issues that could be ironed out but on the whole it worked quite well. With the settings on 'normal' at 1024x768 I have pretty good frame rate. The game struck me as fairly sophisticated so one hour probably isn't enough time to form an opinion. Looks promising to me.

The age spread on this game is very interesting so I thought I'd chime in... 39 years old, been playing AH games since I was 10, and still bring out ASL once in a blue moon. Also enjoy a wide range of computer games but always come back to the first love: WWII strategy. I guess this profile makes me 'average' and that doesn't happen often!
