  1. Thanks for the addition. Was wondering when you were going to make this ever since I found this site back when CMBO first came out. I love the internet. It's the only place I can get games like this anymore.
  2. I liked the Close Combat series of games (up to the Battle of the Bulge one). The only thing I disliked was the dancing tanks. Oh, and because I seem to play way to many games, what is the difference between porn and real sex?
  3. The only time CMBO was removed from my HD was when I had a disk crash and had to re-install. It will stay there until either something better for the West Front comes along or I run out of room on my hard drives. That last one will never happen because I will slick other games to make room before I slick CMBO. Heck, I'll even start slicking HPS games if it comes right down to the wire.
  4. If all you want are total production numbers then go here: http://www.onwar.com/tanks/index.htm
  5. I'd like to play it here at work. Please send it to me. rsilva@edocombat.com
  6. It could be any organization (well funded) who did this. Maybe even one of the so-called rouge nations (if they were stupid enough).
  7. Maximus, your making a joke about this? If you are then you have very bad taste indeed. This has NOTHING to do with Bush or the Republican party. It effects all the people in the U.S. no mater what party they belong to!
  8. Of course I lose to the AI. The first time I played the Beta Demo I lost. But only me and the AI know how often I lose, and it never makes fun of me and calls me a mommas boy (and it never will if it knows what's good for it!). But, I have learned by my mistakes in doing QBs with the AI. The AI has taught me to run from cover to cover, don't bunch your men up, Smoke is your friend, Combined arms is GOOD, BEWARE of that 105 (allied) or 150 (German) infantry gun (I HATE those guns when I'm on the receiving end). In my last QB a darn Allied 105 infantry gun blew away one of my Pumas and made a platoon of SS Wussies run back to their Mommy! [ 04-20-2001: Message edited by: MadDog0606 ]
  9. I'm just posting to see what the number of my member is.
  10. I've had CM in one of my drives since it came out because of a number of reasons: 1. When I was a little kid (over 30 years ago) I use to play with those little plastic soldiers and have make-believe battles that would last for hours (just like CM). Of couse my arty attacks would only consist of big rocks flying through the air with no cool explosions. 2. I love the explosions in CM when ANYTHING blows up. 3. It's nail biting when all you see is sound contacts and really don't know where the main attack is comming from. 4. I LOVE the mods that are generated for this game. 5. The anticipation of CM2.
  11. I like to try new stuff. If you have the time email to maddog0606@home.com
  12. Better late then never. I am a very well maintained 44. Total Respondants: 72 Total Years: 2,495 Average Age: 34.653 For once I am in the above average group. So what if I can't add? [This message has been edited by MadDog0606 (edited 02-27-2001).]
  13. MadDog0606 -- The MadDog part was my handle when playing DukeNukem while using the company LAN during Lunch hour (which sometimes lasted 3 hours). The 0606 part is my birthday and used to seperate me from all the other maddogs out there.
  14. 3 (I have no problem lossing for either side) 1) 4 2) 6 3) 43 4) 23 5) 20
  15. At first I was going to get it as soon as it came out but I'm going to wait. I bought their Sea Dogs game, it still has a few bugs. If Akella fixes Sea Dogs then it shows they will support AOS2 and then maybe I'll buy AOS2. I'm also posting to irritate dmart.
  16. If anyone is interested I looked up the site it's posted on and here it is: http://www.newsday.com/coverage/current/pluggedin/wednesday/nd745.htm
  17. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Gremlin: The question remains, though: is it morally or ethically appropriate to reduce war, particularly a real one as opposed to a hypothetical one, to an interactive entertainment, while leaving out the "nasty bits" of the experience? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I hate it when you people make me think! It hurts my head! Hopefully my writings will make sense. I don't like forcing what I consider moral and ethical on other people (what they do or how they do things). What I consider ethical and moral someone else might think is downright dispicable. I would perfer that a wargame (based on a hypothetical or real war) be as close to real has possible (all the blood, guts and burning flesh). This has nothing to do with morality or ethics on my part, but how I prefer my games to be dipicted (as real as you can get). In a way, how most wargames are depicted on a computer (no blood, guts, burning flesh) makes it easier for a lot of people to play them. More then likely if a little guy in a squad got hit in the gut by a machine gun bullet, had his guts start comming out and his yelling and screaming comming out of a computers speakers it MIGHT just turn someone off on game. I've NEVER experienced real combat. I DON'T WANT to experience real combat. I have NO idea how I would react in that situation. I might have a different opinion if I had ever experienced combat.
  18. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by bebbetufs: I'm not trying to degrade these questions, I enjoy reading it as well. Just wondering how you people justify for yourselves ordering a squad to certain death....in the game, and actually LIKING it? <HR></BLOCKQUOTE> It reads like your saying anybody who likes playing CM is a bloodthirsty killer. Did I misunderstand what you wrote? The operative word in the above statement is "GAME". It's just a game and not real. I know the difference between what is real and what isn't (I tell that to my invisible friend all the time ). And even though it is a game I do not sacrifice a squad of men to certain death unless it is needed. The only way I will sacrifice a squad of men is if it will help me win. Come to think of it, maybe I am a little deranged. When I was a kid of about 12 I use to place my little green plastic soldiers in a fort I built. I'd walk about 100 feet away, take my 22 rifle with a scope and go to town on those little green men.
  19. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by Maximus: So I still stand behind my point in that you all had your chance for user feedback through the Beta Test and some of you who chose not to participate are just now beginning to see what the rest of us have had no problem with and complaining about it. Doesn't make a damn bit of sense really!!<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> I don't have a problem with the tank turning toward the enemy to help speed up the turret rotation. I have a problem with the above statement. It sounds like you no longer want user feedback on this patch from people who did not participate in the public beta testing, which is more then likly a lot of people, and it includes me. I have beta tested for other games before and to do it correctly is like work. You don't play the game to have fun, you exercise the application to find problems. I don't beta test anymore because I play games to relax and have fun. If I want to get frustrated at a computer program I just go to work and do that. I have always felt that BTS has always encouraged CONSTRUCTIVE user feedback and I would hope that they continue to do that. That said, if I find something I don't agree with in CM (which as not happened yet, and more then likly never will) I will moan and groan about it on this forum .
  20. Why don't you check out these discussions, they MIGHT help answer your question: http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/006483.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/007377.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/007636.html http://www.battlefront.com/discuss/Forum1/HTML/006739.html For what it's worth I'm not trying to avoid answering your question. I just can't type all that stuff out as fast as you can read their questions and answers. [This message has been edited by MadDog0606 (edited 11-13-2000).]
  21. It depends on the terrain and how spread out the Victory Flags are. And I usually don't have enough men and equipment to attack or defend all the flags at the beginning. I'll talk about defense first. If defending a village or rural area I'll cover the flags that I feel are important and that have good fields of fire with enough men and machines to ensure I can put a hurting on anybody trying to take them. If there is a flag (or two) way out in left and/or right field I'll maybe cover the approaches to them with a heavy machine gun or an AFV but I wont stick men or equipment out there to flap in the breeze. The covering machine gun (or AFV) will be nowhere near that flag. If I can weaken the enemy enough and I have enough time I will send a platoon or two to take the flags back. When I attack I never go up the middle (unless it has the best cover and even then I wont send everything up the middle) and that is usually where the flags are. I pick a flank and put the majority of my troops there (and not bunched up either, I learned that lesson the hard way). If people think flank attacks are gamey, that's fine. I think sending the majority of your troops up the middle is crazy if the flanks offer better cover. Even the AI isn't that stupid. If I can, I will usually put some troops (a platoon or two) up the middle or on the opposite flank to keep the other side guessing about the sound contacts. I will then try to get as many flags and inflict as much casualties as I can on the defender. Darn spell checker doesn't work. It should have figured I wanted "fire" instead of "fore". I didn't vote for Mr. Gore, but I feel that the guy with the most popular votes should win. [This message has been edited by MadDog0606 (edited 11-08-2000).]
  23. <BLOCKQUOTE>quote:</font><HR>Originally posted by M. People in this thread - or "foreigners" as they were called - were chastised for a lack of interest. But given that any internal changes in the USA are of a less impact than foreign policy changes to Europeans and Asians etc., I think that the rest of the world can be forgiven for passing this election over.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE> If you were camping in the woods would you ignore a Grizzly Bear stomping around not to far from your camp site? I was listening to NPR (National Public Radio) the other day and they had a German reporter on. He was saying that because the US is the last super power (some may disagree) in the world that the policies of the US effect other nations in a big way. He was saying that because US policies can effect other nations that the whole world should have a say in US politics. Hopefully what I wrote made sense. But I'm just a lowly programmer, what I write doesn't have to make sense, it just has to work in the end.
