  1. "This begs the question of why you aren't in the 'Seanachai Should Be Given Precedence Over All Other Mortals In Ordereing CMBB'." This is the statement originally posted by who I am now sure is the most desperate/senile of cess-pudlians. Shame on you!!!!! Even the vanquished peng is not here begging on hands and knees like a simpleton. You are, yes, evil and despised? Surely, you know you have crossed the thin line by posting outside your limited understanding. senachai, you are merely a under-the-bookshelf aparition of the pengish thread who has somehow been set loosed onto the GF. Is this, seanachai, how fast the noble fall? To think I thought of you as a "verbose boogey man" schooled in the arts of taunts and torture like a Martha Stewart cookbook ghost-writer. Now I see you have been reduced to a half-starved lackwit of a creature lurking and pissing/posting about this BBS like golom seeking that which will never be returned .....the youth of a distant CM. I SEE YOU and it has surely taken its toll on this psyce. Even the aged peng has not but a gasp/post or two left in him. Unlike your fish flopping, peng is undoubtedly still in his book-strewn cave stroking his long locks of grey plotting and scheming for naught..... I think the clock ticks and most certainly it is for thee... That said: Yes! you should be the first to receive CMBB. I am sure that a feeble-minded geriatric as yourself playing the full version will see that his cup is indeed half empty and thus move on to more fashionable games of your generation, preferably OFFLINE. Yes of course recognising your temperment and 'stature' - favorable open air park games such as bingo, shuffleboard or... kick the dog will be allowed.
  2. Here is the link to a great mac site's ftp options http://www.pure-mac.com/ftp.html... I have only used Anarchie Pro 3.7 - Pick one and let the slow connect begin... at least it will download. Your browsers (I.yuck E.) are not meant for downloading ftp.
  3. After trying the mac link for 5 min I finally have it started..... Wow! using Anarchie (ftp program) I am getting max 5k download speeds... and the mirror site on Combat Mission HQ is Windoze only... too bad.
  4. After the first 30 seconds of looking at the map I begin to form a plan. I suppose like Steve said a long time back It is all made up on the first move...After that either my plan works out or not. One thing missing in this poll is Attack or Defense one will take more time for a set up and pay in the end the other you can't afford to be reckless. I'm real curious after years of play in both situations is "luck coded". I find I can go with an attack or hold a turn or two on the "luck". I find the TH guys to be very straight forward and understand the game unlike some games I have "picked up".... Oh well the best player who knows..
  5. As with real life if you commit to something game or otherwise there is at lest an understanding that you will follow through with it? But heck this is fanboy time...Funny was just reading the archives lots of 1 person being offended...be creative with your searches...try banned
  6. Amen tero....I find you the most sensible minded person on the BBS. If you will send me you e-mail addy I wrote a long response to the earlier posts unfortunately I find the timing unproductive..one thing worth posting I suppose is ..... Being propositioned by my Danish sister in law on the fundamental good of Communists (of course she complained about the taxes and expect me to facilitate with the importing of vintage Benz) I say "sure the Communists sounds great!!! We are all the same?.. Ok as long as there is not one person who desires more then me I am all for it...since of course I would be the supreme leader and would not want a garbage man too get any ideas". As a side note a good many people are alive who know the names of combatants in WWII. Words still have a meaning and this is not Dragoons and nymphs these are virtual representations of people who died for there country? ..good or bad still a game sure
  7. No mod's, except for a Hertzer I fixed up in Photoshop. Now the sounds are what I still enjoy nothing like the wife in the kitchen imitating the cm go sound...... #1 CD drive is off limits.....Funny thing it has been 2 years and the 4 and 6 year old instinctively know that all hell will brake loose if the eject that one. Reading journey etc. may be used in the burner.
  8. Thank you for correcting me. I will chalk it up too your keen observation skills and my suspicious mind. My apologies, Kamalu Charlot
  9. I enjoyed the review John Kettler but had the bad feeling I was reading a closed beta evaluation. I may be wrong in sensing this but discretion would be the better part of valor. Regards, Phhhhht
  10. Christian is that so bad...............I still keep it to myself.....just in case

  13. The primordial scene of the Pe.. challenge thread (will not speak the unspoken) ...displays the tendencies of zoo baboons running around the oh so dark pond, smearing in this case verbal excrement on each other in a bid to find a leader (a fruitless task, given the genetic pool.) But like baboons even an ssn seems to have one. Pond baboons seem to relish the grooming habit involving swollen blushing appendages. Being outside the pond I can clearly see the tar-colored water is but 3 inches deep. Thus I - unlike you - may attend and thus leave at my leisure. I have little fancy for primates with the exception of that little one ....the small proboscis monkey with the more chiseled features of the lot, has caught my attention being late and seeing as drink possibly clouded my ability to spot the more witless of the creatures. I hereby challenge ...hold on, must ask the zoo-keeper to look up the name... ah yes, Mr. Yeknowdo'thacat'sthistle or some such... Do not look surprised, you were the one I thought had discovered tools, but alas it was but a shaved cat or what looks like a cat? ..on your lap. Well at least it's - I think - it's partially shaved, back side I can assure ye - I am unable to tell: viewing being obscured by all the ropes, tires and straw. The game is a TCP/IP, also known to those on your kind of diet as a death match...heart attack speed. Reach not for your pine cane and lithium.....STOP!!!!! Please unhitch that poor creature from your lap before we play! Show up for battle and I can assure you it will be over before that spittle running down your cheeks is dry. You will find the game posted in the oh so strange place as Opponent Finder. Do not waste any more of my time, Sir Spanker will not be there to influence your feeble mind.... or relieve you of that retched beast you call a friend.
  14. Thank you again for the great write-up. I am looking forward to both Stuka and IL-2 raids; I hope the Stuka's sirens make every infantry man hug Mother Russia.
  15. Lots of great information Garry - thank you. I suppose the one thing that I don't seem to hear much about is Air Support for both sides. I am wondering if this is handled differently than in CMBO.
  16. Only an idiot would have made this a "deal breaker" issue. An idiot with principles, true, but still an idiot Steve ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Truth....I give BTS a lot of credit; I can at least digest the truth. I did some translation testing for Mattel..was very ugly what Barbie said. I hope that compromise will not be the norm but I fear for the worst - like a platoon in reserve I will hold my judgment. Watching....waiting....
  17. OSX yes...delay game now no..but in the end I know I am pushing my lill old mac so it is a good idea..Soon it will be time too upgrade and OSX will be it..10% loyalty is nothing to laugh at (cant believe I spent $3500 in 92 for a 660av set up..It was worth it.)...
  18. As for JasonC - GREAT! If the guys fighting bother to read it. I'm afraid it sounds good as a 2004 era Warcraft game manual. In 1942 the ability of leading men and earning their trust was paramount. Sure, in ideal circumstances all is possible, like communism - it would be GREAT!!! But as long as one person wants more than his neighbor the whole house of cards falls in most Americans' view. I have read many American accounts; very few went according to "plan". I have read more though that U.S. docrine was made up from pure battlefield experience gained the hard way. We all know training and experience pay dividends but the U.S. was playing catch-up in WWII, be it at a faster pace than most.. If we are talking about WWII, a sound training program paid dividends in lives saved, we lacked that. For simple lives saved let's add camo to the mix. A very simple doctrine: I see you, you don't see me.
  19. Excellent discussion by learned men. I also think that Philippe hit the nail on the head. The dynamics of the 30s and 40s have more to do with one's ability to adapt to a new tactic. In the 20s and 30s there was debate and a real try by few on all sides to analyze what worked and what did not, but by the late 30's my impression is that each country was dealing with its own independent set of realities. The average U.S. soldier coming out of the Depression would in my view be less likely to believe in "new and improved", "make attacks faster," "live longer." I talk with people who still have ration cards and they, well "hold back." Not to go into each country's politics and their reasons for using a certain tactic.... My guess would be Germany would be more open to "new" ideas and implement them; they were "unjustly" dealt with. Russia was a "new" country and open to suggestion... France wanted to hold on... UK.. most felt "well the war is over and move on." Very practical. If you said a year ago that we would have a proposal in the U.S.A. "Internal police force...combined" I would say implausible. Give a person time and training - that rings true in that time frame, I'm sure you will see results. Like Philippe said, it's regional... a CO yelling "over the top" for a MG nest will ring deferent in each country.. but if you teach people after they learn to hate a new idea, they may implement it. From what I read of German and I'll give Fione this, Russian doctrine was movement with fire "new idea"…Do not get caught in minutia of the moment, hey what do I know I can't spell.
  20. I liked the black text with the lighter background. It is much easier to read now - white or black text is fine but I think it will bring uniformity to the layout if the text is black. Conforming to what was your original vision for the bbs - better. I will add that my eyes started hurting after reading for just a few min in the original layout.
