1. Sadly, mine is at home and I am currently at work. Even more sadly, I'm leaving on a business trip tomorrow (with no laptop) and won't be home until Sunday I really need a new job (or, better yet, no job at all!)
2. Cool! I'm in Pasadena, so mine should be waiting for me when I get home from work.
3. Given my experiences with things going west coast to east coast (and vice-versa) with USPS, I'd agree that Tuesday is probably most realistic for those of us with zip codes 80000+
4. I'd really like bridge tiles that are at 45ยบ angles. Lefty
5. Mark, Yes, this is going to be altered in the next patch. However, keep in mind that even now, the 1000 point limitation applies to the defender. With the attacker handicapping settings already in place for QB's, at least one side (the attacker) can have substantially more points than 1000.
6. Babra - Can you help me? I think that my game is buggy, because when I found the gold, my Tigers were only invulnerable for 4 turns.
7.
quote:
Does speed affect chances of bogging?

I have noticed (and IIRC the manual states this too) that speed does make a difference when it comes to bogging vehicles. In certain terrain and conditions, fast-moving vehicles have a greater likelihood of bogging down.
8. "All or Nothing" SPOILERS IN THIS POST Doug- I think you miss Hakko Ichiu's point. By reading your post, I now know that when I play the "All or Nothing scenario" (which I've not yet done ) that: 1) The Germans have at least one sharpshooter 2) The British have tanks 3) The British have at least three F.O.'s 4) The Germans have "big guns" I agree that knowing this stuff beforehand might not change one's strategy drastically, but it does ruin any sense of surprise that I enjoy when playing a scenario for the first time. -Lefty [This message has been edited by Left4Dead (edited 07-13-2000).] [This message has been edited by Left4Dead (edited 07-13-2000).]
9. All of the pics and textures associated with CM can be found in the "bmp" subdirectory. As far as a program to create a screensaver, assuming you're using windows, go to http://www.winfiles.com This site has a huge selection of windows shareware and freeware. I'm sure that there's an app there that can help with this.
10. Damn..I hate it when everyone beats me to the replys Lefty
11. I did a search on the internet movie database (http://www.imdb.com) and I think I found some info on this movie. It's called "Enemy at the Gates" and is being produced by Paramount/Mandalay pictures. It's being directed by Jean-Jacques Annaud (Seven Years in Tibet) and will star Ed Harris as Thorvald and Jude Law as Zaitsev.
12. You might want to try posting this in the "tips and techniques" forum, in the "scenario" forum, or at least indicating SPOILER in the message header. I don't mean to be cranky, but yet another spoiled scenario (sigh)....
13. I'd like to see tiles that have bridges at 45 degree angles...
14. Sergei: It is possible for your men to mis-identify enemy equipment. The chance of this has to do with the quality of your troops. This is discussed in the manual, but I had never seen it until just the other day when a friend and I were playing a hotseat game. After one of the turns he told me how he had no idea how he'd deal with my medium tank -- when all I really had was an armored car. He even saw my unit with the appropriate graphics (and info box) of a medium tank. Very cool [This message has been edited by Left4Dead (edited 06-28-2000).]
15. My first question is, have you changed anything software or hardware-wise on your computer since it last worked? Have you rebooted? And tried everything again? VXD VMM is a virtual memory module related to your graphics driver, so I would guess that this "blue screen of death" has something to do with your graphics driver. If you know how, and you have the drivers handy, it might not be too hard to reinstall your video card's drivers and try to run it again. [sorry if some of my questions above were comp. problems, I've always found that it's good to start with the most obvious first ]
16. Just to weigh in with my .02, I also recall from the manual that another difference between sneaking and crawling is that crawling units also have a reduced ability to spot enemy units.
17. Have you tried disabling the ambient sounds? You might want to try this just to see if this is the cause, or if all sounds are causing the pauses,
18. Greg, I have a different graphics card (a 32meg GeForce DDR) and I get the same results as you've described, so I think that it works as designed. I imagine that limiting the players' view of the battlefield wouldn't be consistent with the type of engine that BTS has designed. Nonetheless, LOS is properly limited in these conditions such that fog and night LOS is usually no more than around 50-60m.
19. I did a search for this, but came up with nothing at all (so sorry if this has already been mentioned somewhere else). In the map editor, when in elevation mode, I find that pressing and holding the shift key does not enlarge the paintbrush. I can still only "paint" elevations one tile at a time. Now I am able to enlarge the paintbrush using this method when in terrain mode. Could I be doing something wrong (always a definite possibility ), or is this actually a problem? Left4Dead
20. Just to weigh in, I also noted the towed gun issue. I was playing a scenario where a tracked carrier was towing an AT gun. The gun was destroyed but a stray shot and the "dead" gun model was drawn under the "alive" vehicle.
21. I believe that BTS only has an email address for sales inquiries (sales@battlefront.com) Also, they are shipping CM via the U.S. Postal Service (priority mail), not UPS, so there are no tracking numbers to be had. L4D
22. Here's a direct link to the full download of DX 7a from Microsoft's site: http://download.microsoft.com/download/win98SE/Update/7.0a/W9X/EN-US/DX7Aeng.exe
23. I found that when I downloaded Moon's scenarios that extra extensions were added to the filenames (just as Mike surmised). I renamed the files (i.e. got rid of the extra extensions), and the scenarios now work. L4D
24. yep...you should extract the new executable file into the CMBO folder, the wav file into the "wav" folder and the new bmps into the "bmp" folder. I did notice, however, when I did this, that "CMBO version 1.01" subdirectories were created and the new files ended up in those, instead of where they needed to be. If you're using winzip to unzip your patch, there is a winzip setting that will prevent this from happening...or you can just manually move these. Hmm...after re-reading this post, I don't know how clear it was, but I hope it helps. L4D
