  1. If you're going to do the AC-130, you should make sure that a certain amount of woods terrain becomes clear terrain after the attack.
  2. That's frickin' awesome! Love the guys talking at the end -- "Did you see how high that turrent went?" And the engine! And to think it's basically a handheld weapon...
  3. Jingo -- What program do you use to insert the text and circles and stuff?
  4. Robert E. Lee during the Union charge up Marye's Heights at Fredericksburg.
  5. I would offer these definitions for your high school students. Tactics -- The ability to get your hand up your girlfriend's shirt without getting slapped. Strategy -- Planning your date to ensure you and your girlfriend are left alone in the dark at some point toward the end of the evening. Logistics -- Making sure your older brother visiting from college remembers to buy you and your girlfriend beer.
  6. Great stuff! I am enjoying the reading tremendously. Major H, please keep helping us non-military types by posting interesting links like this. Thanks!

    New TacOps

Major H: I stipulate that your military contracts are substantially larger than "private sector" purchases. Now to my question... ...I am a relatively lame solitaire player. I love the game because it of its unique interface and credible treatment of the subject matter. I believe -- and I think I speak for the entire TacOps community -- that you have done a great job building the credibility of the game both from a technical standpoint and a gaming standpoint. [Aside: don't you love how when someone asks a question and the sum total of Major H's answer is "Correct program response"? End of subject.] Anyway, I read with worry Major H's response about how the v4.0 will not allow for solitaire play as OPFOR. Is anyone else out there worried that game development has been driven by military contracts rather than playability considerations? FYI, I play significant numbers of other games via PBEM and have managed 2 on-line wargame ladders Thanks, Phil "Lame Gamer" Squair
  8. I'm a lobbyist so I deal with my share of acronyms, but I'm having some trouble with those in this thread. FO -------> Forward observer? ACRV? ----> Automatic civilian recreation vehicle? FISTV? ---> Featherweight industrial strength television? Thanks for the help!

    Apaches

Any advice for a civilian on how best to use Apaches? Are they better against hard or soft targets? They're pretty vulnerable sitting up there, so moving them around seems to be important. I've been messing around with the Fenwick scenario and am definitely not using them up to their potential. Thanks.
