1. Hello Shandorf, And that's your perogative. So we've agreed to disagree on something,so what else is new ?Of course what you choose to read is your buisness, and what I choose to read is mine.I only expressed an opinion on the portion of the article I read. And I stopped reading once I hit ground I didn't like. There is nothing to give a rest to,I'm not arguing at all, or trying to change your opinion.I believe I'm entitled to express my opinion, just as you are yours.I'll say nothing more on the subject though, lest I ire someone else. Dick
 2.
quote:
Originally posted by Maxx: Dick here's a hint: Its a parody of the youth in Germany having too much time on their hands.. it has not a thing to do with the murder of millons. But for the record, you get a gold star for being morally superior, k?

Thanks Maxx, for the star:D.But that was not my intent, nor do I pretend to be as you say in a moral sense, superior.I Wasn't trying to flame you or anyone else.I saw no harm in the article until I read the line about turning the jewry into soap,to me that's not even close to satire,it's just plain sick.My point is, as the world slowly learns to make fun of anything and everything, it also slowly learns to stop feeling things like compassion, etc.,as well. These are all learned behavoiurs to some extent,so articles like this are only teaching our children to become more cold and callous than the prior generation.I meant no disrespect to you, I was commenting on the content of the article, not you.Like always,it's only my opinion, and there are uncountable numbers of those in the world. Dick:)
 3. It's wrong to make fun of the murder of millions, period. Just an opinion, like your own
 4.
quote:
Originally posted by russellmz: but they are insulting in a balanced manner.

The point was, some things should not be used as the subject of joking. Dick
 5.
quote:
I'm trying to find MacDonald's book on the Huertgen forest. Actually any book on that battle would be nice.

Try doing a search for "A Dark and Bloody Ground" I forget the author's name, but I ordered it from a local bookstore. It is an excellently detailed book on the fighting in the Huertgen forest. Dick
 6.
quote:
Has anyone read "Company Commander"? How is it?

Exceptionally good, as is "A Time For Trumpets" Dick
 7. My vote so far would be for the book "Gotterdammerung", but I forget the authors name.Anthony Beever's book "Stalingrad" was really good as well. Dick
 8. Any article whose attempt at humor includes sick and twisted phrases like "turning the jewry into soap" is not really funny at all, only crass, callous, and unfeeling.I hope BTS locks this thread up,just because of the offensive link it contains. If it were one of your relatives they were speaking of with this statement, you might not find it so amusing. Some people will do anything for a dollar, this article is proof of that. For the record,I try to be Christian, I am not Jewish. It doesn't take being a Jew to see the utter stupidity of this article. Dick
 9. Meeks , You'll be dried dust by the time the day you speak of arrives,if it ever does .And your statement that cowardice is a genetic trait is valid only in the sense that we've all been prgrammed for "fight or flight", since the very beginning. While this is a mutually inherited trait, the differing reactions in times of crisis come from differences in eyesight, intelligence, and many other traits, all which act in concert to give rise to "fight or flight" in a given instant. There is no way a computer or any machine will ever truly simulate that,IMHO. No offense intended here, please don't take any, merely pitching into the discussion. Dick
 10. Bielzijake, spawn of Satan, lover of filthy lucre,we meet yet again,eh? Is that VT that you've purchased in mass quantities and you're currently using on the US "Remnant" [not my word, our POW's told us what you began calling your troops after turn 2] to crush yourself utterly? Pah,I spit on your latest briefing, a pox on your mercedes, may all the widows and orphans you've left as destitute street urchins find your home address [which I've conveniently posted in shantytown] and rip you from your lair full of ill gotten gains. Soon you'll part with the fabled $2.29 bad war movie, and I shall be declared the vanquisher of evil and injustice referred to as "The Lawyer". Get a brain, Dick
 11. Another great idea Helge! Now if we could get BTS to automate this or a variation of it,if the coding isn't a huge issue...... Dick
 12. Shandorf, Tank, Thanks for the input.Maybe we can get BTS to include a PBEM filenaming/saving interface feature in CM2, if it's feasible and wanted badly enough. Dick
 13. I prefer operations, for the very same reasons you've posted, and because it allows one the opportunity to lose a battle, but still win the "campaign". Dick
 14.
quote:
Originally posted by jshandorf: The system I use is pretty good for if you want to keep track of your orders and films. For example: Say I am the Axis. I do my deployment and then save the file. That file will now be called: USDeploy.txt Because that file I am now sending to my player is the file that HE loads to deploy his troops. When he is done he sends me back: AxisOrders1.txt Which represents the file that I am going to load to give my first turn orders. When I am done with my 1st turn orders I save it as: USOrders1.txt Because he will load this file for his 1st turn orders. He then sends me back: AxisMovie1.txt Because this is MY movie for the 1st turn. When I done watching it I then send him: USMovie1.txt He watches the movie and gives his 2nd round orders and sends me: AxisOrders2.txt I do my orders and then generate the movie and send him back: USMovie2.txt He watches the movie and then sends me back: AxisMovie2.txt After I am done watching it and giving my 3rd round orders I send him: USOrders3.txt Wash, rinse, repeat. With this method I can easily keep track of my past movies if I want to review them. Jeff

Thanks Jeff, that's the system I have seen used a lot myself. But how do you then keep track of who you are playing, etc.Axis and Allies is not enough,if you have several opponents.Do you just keep them in separate folders? And what about playing the same opponent in 2 different scenarios, or in a double blind scenario? What I'm hoping to find, by asking the pool of players here, is a method that works well and keeps each file unique but easily understood, and can be suggested to BTS. Dick
 15. My fellow Americans, and kindred men off all Nations: Please ,do not feed the trolls. P.S.Londoner, I suspect if you'd not used terms like "Bloody Americans", you'd probably get a more positive response. Dick
