Hey send me a setup i'm about to go to work too.

Good to see you are using your valuable work time in a productive activity.

For the grogs: What is the single day largest casualty count for a European or American power since 1945?
This figure would really not be useful in an argument over the difference in tactics over the last 70 years.
There are just to many other variables such as differences in force sizes committed (how many million US troops fought in WW2 - How many fought in 2003 Iraq 100,000?) then you have the size and relative quality of the opposition.
Generally my understanding is that there has been some evolution of tactics since WW2 prompted by variety of things, new weapons, theory etc. But the basic concept of fire and maneuver is still the same and still utilized.
edit - Probably the best way to see what has changed and what is the same is to read a modern infantry field manual and one from immediately after ww2 which includes lessons that were learnt in that war and compare the differences.

I thought you would be used to people not wanting to talk with you by now Joe since you have had so much experience with it?
Cavscout always talks to me in his emails, and I like him his soldiers are good at getting shot.

To be fair looking at the screenshots in the first shot the waypoint is about 5 metres away directly in front of the tank. The second shot is 1 min later and Lt Oberly has gone rolling of to the right with the waypoint now behind him.
But I agree with putting a waypoint on each side of the breach that seems to work for me.

What's a salad?

Tsk tsk, what on Earth are these bloody northerners up to.
Yet again an Australian is required to go above and beyond the call of duty by posting at 2am to get this thread back on page 1.
-
Ok maybe a few more than 501 then.
-
For myself I would expect that in most cases any attempt to breach would have been scouted on foot to find a suitable location before lining the tank up for it's charge.
As for gameplay purposes I am generally happy with how it is represented at the moment. It is cumbersome enough scanning bocage for places that infantry can cross without having 'Rhinoable' bocage and 'Non-Rhinoable' bocage to look for.
-
I found that video link in a thread on Matrix Games Panzer Command Ost Front forum, I won't give a direct link as it may be considered commercial but the thread is called 'The Bocage' currently on about page 5 of that forum.
Looks like a very interesting discussion and I wouldn't discount Beevor just yet as I am sure there was much thicker/older bocage around as well as the smaller stuff like in that video.
-
Solved - seconds is fine.
Rhino Stuart through bocage in seconds, though maybe that is small bocage.
-
Pretty sure I have seen footage of a Rhino equiped Sherman cutting straight through bocage.
Though maybe it was a small bocage.
edit - maybe the Rhino equiped Stuarts took longer?
-
Sounds like a great excuse for a good old stake burning.
Which one should we burn?

Now now Stukes how many times do we have to tell you no posting photos of your mistress.

I just hope my steel box wont go flat when I jump up and down on it.
-
501
Of course while that number may in no way resemble the actual number of steelboxes it is possible that it does.
-
Ssshhh no one is supposed to know that.

Historically in Hollywood you mean ?
What other history is there?

You know, the nice thing about the Rapture supposedly coming tomorrow is how organized it is supposed to be. It supposedly occurs at 6:00 p.m., by time zone, until all the world's saved have been taken.
I take great heart in knowing that, if this is indeed the case, the Oddstraylyuns will be removed from this earth a good sixteen hours before the Rapture hits Texas. Talk about Heaven on Earth! Or, to paraphrase John Lennon, Imagine No Oddstraylyuns . . .
Steve
That can't happen dreamtime at the 'G' is on tonight and Essendon is going a game clear of Carlton on the ladder.

Wait, goth chick is a problem?
That goth chick isn't, but I'm pretty sure that wasn't the one he brought home.
-
Oh yes definately come on over and ask Joe Shaw nicely for a game.

I played in a couple of Iron Dukes 'Ass Kicker Of The Month' tourneys way back when.

Is that good enough to get me an entry in this when it gets going?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate.
I thought of posting that when I saw this thread yesterday but decided no for someone else surely will.
Didn't expect it to take this long though.
