I'm with you here. I crave the off balanced, underdog fight. How much sweeter it is when that armored recon platoon has been wiped out with nothing more than the crusty shorts of my tired infantry. Thats true warfare.

Its looking like meeting engagements work the best so far, with setup zones far from the center of the map [no mans land].
-
Whats the best way to use this for continuing battles? Mainly, whats the best way to initialy setup the map. Playing on attack? Defending? Meeting engagements? Or customizing maps with special setup zones? First try at it I attacked in a QB, and on the second [imported] battle, the new defenders set up right on top of, and in the same buildings as my units that had advanced into the enemy setup zone in the first battle. Not bad if I was simulating a paradrop on me. Playing on defense would seem to work better, but I'd like to figure out a good way to play on the attack.

It's not there. All white.

3 days, 2 nights City battle/ meeting engagement. Not too big so it should run well on older puters, and won't give you a headache plotting your turn. This is made strictly for 2 players. E-mail if you'd like it.

Artillery.

What happened to those 18 STs? Any of them see action, or were they all Sturmovik food?
-
Doh! Gotta check to see if this is a meeting engagement.

Plotted 3 corp level rocket batteries on first turn of a pbem game. Should drop on first turn right? Got a 14 minute delay for all three batteries. Its working correctly with single player mode, thought maybe this screwed up because of an e-mail bug. Wazzup?

I didn't pre order. Ordered 3 weeks ago. College Corner eh? Maybe we should grab a beer.

Three weeks and counting here. And I'm in the States. We could all have a group therapy session at CMHQ chat.

So very few surrender now. Realistic?

Were not both the Germans and Russians loathe to surrender for fear of execution? -
I'm playing the demo. Three of my tanks have gun damage, and all three are using their bow MGs. (I know its their bows and not co-axel because the turrets are "stuck" pointing in another direction.)

Best books on WW II inside.

Anyone know who carries Rommels "Infantry Attack"? -
Make bunkers a terrain type instead of a unit. Bunkers can then be manned, or unmanned with various units. Units starting in bunker gets an ammo bonus. Different sized bunkers would have a "transport value", so that an individual units transport cost rating would count against to prevent overcrowding a bunker. Everything is possible with this: AT bunkers, rifleman bunkers, MG/MGs bunkers, crewing and re-crewing a bunker, etc. Just an idea. [ October 18, 2002, 11:20 AM: Message edited by: Echo ]

Who was it that made the outstanding flames MOD for CMBO?
-
I was amazed this was coded into the game.

Tank crew moral and casualities is the best feature in the game now. -
BFC Did not make any improvments in CMBB

You sure can. http://www.tommygun.com/ao_front_lg.html -
Tank battles are better, infantry behavior is better, infantry animations are better, sounds are better, graphics are better, combat results are better, doo-dads are better, unit moral is better, information screen/ interface is better, total immersion is better, MGs !!! are better. Damn, if I left something out, I'm sure it too is also better. All bitchings and niggles be damned, this is an awesome goddamned game. [ September 05, 2002, 04:28 PM: Message edited by: Echo ]

New sounds for the mighty .50 cal
Echo replied to BaD JoKe's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
50 cal. is a 50.cal, doesnt matter where its firing from. And I still havent heard a wave. that sounded like the real deal. I'd record my Berret going off, but I don't have the equipment or know how, and it would have to be worked into an automatic stacato (mine is a single shot bolt action). The 50 MGs I shot in the navy (deck mounted) had about a 4 round per second rate of fire.
