Shermans - too effective?
Echo replied to Catacol Highlander's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Close up, and in congested terrain, Shermans do well, especially in numbers. -
An SU-152 sure as hell smokes.

After reading an excelent "sneak peak" of CMBB, it seams wind and smoke effects have been greatly improved. All that work...I wonder, and I think I would if I were BTS...make those big beutiful gun barrels smoke. Big, lingering, plumes of smoke from the likes of 105s, 88s, etc. Just a thought.

How MGs will change - A Chicago AAR comparison
Echo replied to JasonC's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
It sounds like we will soon have a new eutopia of infantry combat modeled. Everything else about the game is icing on the cake. -
Are MG improvements reflected in Vehicle MGs?
Echo replied to Echo's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Thats good news. It's not entirely healthy [for the tank] "overrunning" infantry to get effective MG results. -
Being a professional magician myself, I admire Jasper Masqueline, the [then] world famous British magician who fooled the hell out of the Germans in North Africa. He actualy moved the entire Suez Canal, by lighting up the desert, and blacking out the coasts, fooling any air action by night. He also built a dummy army far to the flank of an attack on Tobruk, fooling German air recon as to the army groups true disposition.

I'd play ya if you weren't such an arogant ass. I'd smoke you too.

Shouldn't this be in the Opponent Finder thread?

Fionn Kelly's New Balanced Force Rules
Echo replied to RobH's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
Play chess if you want fair and balanced. -
Ditto on what Manstein said. Also, can we not change our convoy routes? What if I want to run supplies by way of SE Atlantic.

Is it possible to invade North America?
Echo replied to vonManstein39's topic in Strategic Command 1
Possible, and realistic, only if the game models the perfusion of arms among the ordinary civilians of America. Damn near everybody was profficient with a rifle back then (teach it in the boy scouts). Huge militia could be mustered very quickly had that happened. -
Old board game that took up half my bedroom, and several weeks to finish. I'm glad to see it come to life on the computer. The operational aspects of this new game looks almost identical to Third Reich. Woo hoo! On a side note, are exploitations with armor regiments simulated as it was in Reich?

Stay away from Beta drivers.

a proposal: infantry using armor for cover (again)
Echo replied to lassner.1's topic in Combat Mission Archive #4 (2002)
I remember my first advance in "Chance Encounter" with the demo. They said "play it like you would in real life". Of course my men huddled behind my tanks were shredded with MG fire. Very disapointing. -
Am I playing against a whiner named Edited?

Rule #95 says "I'm a limp wristed wimp". I remember reading it somewhere. -
Be ruthless. Be relentless. Hold no ground, but rather hold on to your opponents ass, and naw it off until their is nothing but bone and rent flesh left. After that, make him send you a fine bottle of Scotch for your trouble.

It penetrated, but didn't hit any crewmen or equipment. I love this kind of attention to detail.

Ha! Max, You rotten scoundrel. This will be considered a violation of "international wargaming laws", not to mention espionage, and down right "gamey". All the rest of you responding to this post will be shot for aiding and abeding the enemy! (note to self: buy more jeeps next time).
