  1. Sergei, I'm not sure you give the casual player enough credit. I would have to place myself as a casual player. I have played maybe two, half games of PBEM and two games of TCP/IP but I have played hundreds of games against the AI and I really enjoy a quick battle. I visit off and on this forum to see what is happening and I might go a few months between games and then play several dozen over a few weeks. But what has made this game worth playing is the quality put into it. I am by no means a grog and this is the only hard core military game I play but I do appreciate the quality of this game and the opportunity to be the commander of my forces in my eternal quest to win and succeed. -Demster
  2. Great! Now us long long time lurkers will never post because you will all see the pitiful number of times we have actually posted a message. Oh well I guess I will just have to take my lumps.
  3. My favorite CM Saying is "Turn It Back! Turn it Back!" This is my usual saying when I am watching one of my german tanks with slow turrets turn the turrett 180deg to shoot at some crews it just passed when I know about 15 american tanks are just up ahead. Once it sees the American tanks it will take another 30 seconds to get the turret back to face the Americans. This is usually accompanied by quiet #$S?*s when the german tank dies.
  4. Glad to see a few people in Oregon have the game. I currently reside in Hillsboro. I didn't order until last Friday so I doubt I will see it until the end of this week if I am lucky.
  5. MarkEzra, Thanks for the input. I have actually lurked on this forum consistently since last September. I prefer to learn all I can and then start asking questions once I have a good foundation. As for the wisecracks, well you have to expect it from some people. I wasn't offended because I have seen how many of these people post. I expect some people to act immature but I know most people will want to be helpful and give good input. Denby
  6. Jeff, I am pretty certain Steve or Charles said that they use American uniforms, and equipment. Denby
  7. Before I get flamed for not doing my research I would like everyone to know that I did infact use the search feature and I found nothing about this. If the "Free French" use only american equipment then how are they going to be different from american units? What I mean is the following? 1. Are the squads diffent in size? 2. Are the french troops equipped with a different proportion of weapons? ie more rifles or Bars... 3. Are troops of the same calibure able to take different amounts of damage and still fight? ie. If you had one french unit and one american unit and both were vetran can one take more damage before they brake. 4. Any other differences besides the inherent differences in the leaders names. Basically when I play a Free French senario and an American Scenario will I sense a difference in how I should use them? Thanks, Denby [This message has been edited by Demster (edited 06-16-2000).] [This message has been edited by Demster (edited 06-16-2000).]
  8. I would love to play. I haven't had an opportunity to do PBEM yet. Lets play VoT and you can pick the side and any bonuses or anything and email it to me at dcluff@hotmail.com Denby
  9. 28, married, 2 kids, got an engineering degree and I am now working for one of those big high tech companies. Hoping that CM comes out soon. By the way I have played the computer lots, I'm thinking that a PBEM game would be in order...anyone intersted? If so let me know your email and we will work out the details.
  10. The first time I played the mission I was able to get both flamethrower squads up the hill and take out the bunker on hill 209 and a MG42 on the other side of the bunker as well. It took a long time to make sure that the germans were sufficiently suppressed to do it, but the results were well worth the wait. 11. Hi, I've been reading about combat mission for about 4 months now and this is my first post. It is really exciting to learn more about WWII from all of you. Anyways my question is about the different settings. Can you change the resolution in the game to 800 X 600 or 1024 X 768 manually or does the game set the resolution to match your desktop.
