    PBEM on CMBN

Drop me an email if you are up for a game. I just got the game and have not played any scenarios - like to play them blind. So pick any scenario, any side and send it over to gstockbridge@comcast.net.
  2. gstockbridge@comcast.net any scenario, any side ok with me

    Cmsf Pbem

Send anything over, any side - gstockbridge@comcast.net
  4. Don't have Skype - up for a game though. gstockbridge@comcast.net. Pick anything and any side and send it over.
  5. When I plot the movement points the actual location seems to be offset from where the pointer is when I click to register the weigh-point. It is not always the case - but often.
  6. Well said ... also, one of the things I like about Panther Games is their willingness to come on line and talk with those that buy (or are considering buying) their games. A shame their passion for the game and it's design is called spin by someone unable to have a reasonable discussion of anything other than their view of the world.
  7. JasonC, You make a number of good points. I have to disagree with just one - a real time engine for operational battles can work. I have played turn based strategy games for years but have found the RDOA/HTTR/COTA game engine to be incredibly good at mid-range operational level play (1-10 day battles). It is pausable when needed and also incorporates a tremendous amount of features that increase the complexity of the game. A well thought out delayed orders component, a supply system with incredible detail and significant impacts if ignored, impacts of fatigue that realistically impact the game flow, and a fog of war that must be mastered to interpret enemy intentions. Although I am not a fan of this game against the AI, I believe it is unmatched in head to head play. The engine has come a long way from the RDOA days to the COTA release and I believe the Bulge release will be the best in the series. It is well worth your trying it out given your background and experience. The one downside is the size of the customer base and ability to find good online players. Turn based players do sometimes find it hard to adjust to the flow of this game but I find it the most enjoyable gaming I have done in my 35 years of playing.
  8. I am looking to buy a new video card - any suggestions on what is the most compatible with games like CM. I am looking for a midrange card. Thanks
  9. I just changed cards and now have the one mentioned above. I am locking up when I start the game. I have already gone to the glsetup.com website as mentioned on a previous post with no luck in fixing this. Any suggestions on settings to change? Gary
  10. Looking for someone to start up one of the scenarios at this web site. I have not looked at it - prefer a blind game. http://users.pandora.be/aneric/index8.htm#CM Relief of Bastogne would be my preference - either side.
  11. I am from Chester County outside of Philly - I'm in.
  12. Just bumping this up to see if there are any challengers up for this today...
  13. I had an idea for a new ongoing post. It is called “king of the hill” since whoever wins the most will get to keep posting. It goes like this. The first person to accept the challenge plays me in a quick battle with the following parameters: Combined arms, medium map, no restrictions on units, automatically picked units, meeting engagement, 1,250 points, no handicap and 20 turns. The other settings are up to the challenger (including the choice of sides). The winner gets to post the win and take on the next challenge. Once you have played once and lost you can not re-challenge. Players must at a minimum average 1 turn a day. As long as you keep winning you get to keep posting (hence the “king of the hill”). Points are used to declare winner (so only an exact same score would be a draw). Once a challenge goes up it always is given to the first player to post. I hope this makes sense. Please make a separate post for comments on this since I wanted to keep this to just winning posts & accepted challenges. [This message has been edited by yakstock (edited 09-30-2000).]
  14. I could not find this on the site? Am I looking in the wrong place?
  15. How can I install two versions of CM? I wanted to have the last two versions installed so I can complete games & start new ones at the same time. When I go to set-up it does not look like I can do anything but modify, repair or remove.
  16. THANKS to all of you - I finally got it working - it was the Jumper on the motherboard that did it.
  17. latest update - now I can see the wallpaper on my desktop, but the screen is only showing part of the desktop (like 1/4 of the screen). And no matter what resolution I set it on I can only see part - can't access the start menu or see any desktop Icons unless they are in the far right upper corner of the screen. I feel so close but so far from resolving this - help!
  18. ok - here is an update. I changed a setting in my config.sys (disabled EMM) and it now allows my system to recognize two adapters and two monitors. The only problem is that when I hook the monitor up to the new board it goes & stays blank. Still trying different stuff - but any help would be appreciated.
  19. I just installed a new card into a PCI slot. My computer already had an AGP Video chipset incorporated on the motherboard (so says the manual). The old card is still the one recognized by the system. The hardware profile shows both. I "removed" the old card, but when I reboot it puts it back. How can I make the system use the new card as the default? HELP!
  20. I think I now know enough to know I need a PCI type card & that it is not the most popular type (versus AGP). What are some good choices in the low to medium price range that will allow fog, etc. to work for CM.
  21. Can I get the Directx control panel that has been referenced to fix the "I don't see any fog" problem without downloading the whole SDK from microsoft? Also - where would I find a control panel for my video card if I have one?
  22. I just downloaded the Parker's Crossing scenario from the "scenario Board". Anyone interested in a blind PBEM of this one? Just pick a side, post so I only get one & send over a set-up
  23. I just rec'd the game but none of my usuall opponents have it yet. Anyone that rec'd the game interested in a PBEM tonight? Please post as I am only looking for one opponent.
  24. Sorry guys - life sucks sometimes - I called my ISP & they will not have it fixed until later tonight. I do not have a backup that I can access at home.
