my own mods help me bridge the gaps where BFC will never go. Imperfect as these mods are, I really enjoy them. The latest Korea 1950 has been tons of fun. Steve has written that he depends on modders to take the game where BFC will never take it.
IN your mods are you able to make new vehicles and not just reskin existing models? Has anyone been able to do that outside of BFC?

Get out the red kettles! Ring the bell and take donations.
I don't know if we would get enough. But maybe...

If you were flush with investor tier cash it would probably be cheaper to ask how much it would cost to licence the engine to create a France 1940 project, as happened with CM Afghanistan. You would have to do the necessary 3D modelling and art work, as well as OOB, campaign and scenarios for the project. If you had a dedicated team you could ask Steve privately as to the cost of such a licence, if the subject is up for discussion.
I would like to support the BattleFront team, so I want to give them the money directly...

Some guy paid for them to do Fortress Italy. I would like to know what he paid...

Which means someone would need to pay us not only what it costs to make Barbarossa but also pay us what we could have earned if we made something else. I can guarantee you guys that price would be quite high and sales from it wouldn't even put a dent in recovering development costs.
Just for fun, how much would that be? Maybe I am independently wealthy and looking to spend my money on something fun!

Perhaps the next game can turn the clock back as far as Tunisia 1943 for the western front titles, while either a module to Red Thunder or a new eastern front base game might roll the clock as far back as Kursk 1943.
1943 in general (on the East Front) would be fantastic. I would never ask for another thing. Seriously...

I understand the impatience. I really do. We all want our new toys sooner rather than later.
But my day job is testing software, and I've dabbled in a bit of programming in the past. So please trust me when I say it's not a good idea to rush these things. Some bugs are harder to squash than others. Some features are harder to work in than expected, and will frequently cause new bugs. It's always better to wait for a good product than to get a rushed piece of garbage. There is plenty of Combat Mission already out to keep us busy in the mean time.
I believe everyone at Battlefront is probably working diligently. Battlefront releases have always been slow. In part I expect that's a result of the limited resources they've always had to work with, and in part that's just because properly developing and testing any product takes time. But the releases have always come. We will get our new toys when they're ready.
I have been away from the forum for a while. Could someone catch me up briefly on what we are waiting for exactly? I would like to participate in the waiting game. Thanks!

Steve: "Making a 1943 Eastern Front game focused on the Summer period is vastly easier to do than Barbarossa."
Well spotted! "Vastly easier to do", isn't that just like saying: very, very easy to do?
"We didn't do this because it was easy, we did it because we thought it would be easy." Churchill, or somebody similar...

I'm one of the guys who would NOT like to see a lowering of TOE attention to detail. IMO it ups the immersion when playing and it is also helpful when designing scenarios on my own.
I agree, if Battlefront are doing the game. However, what we are talking about is doing something that BF has said they will never do. How can this be done without them? Well, corners will have to be cut, etc. I am not a stickler for TOE's because, as has been stated by others in this thread, after a couple of months in combat the TOE is by the board...

I speak for myself only. I respect that aspect of BFC with getting the nitty gritty of TOEs correct by date and such. I do.
But my play style came from once having a low end PC and still having a low end brain and I better enjoy the type of small scenario where the unit has been ravaged and the TOE is no longer intact. So, in the editor you have an HQ and purchase the teams tucked under there and you get your red lines. Like an adhoc force. Not a day 1 of the invasion TOE.
I think there should be room for both types of approaches.
This is my approach as well.

Of course you can - how's C2 going to work then?
Can or can't? We can adjust existing units to be kind of like the ones we actually need. I am not a stickler for absolute accuracy...

I would buy such a pack day 1 but this has been requested before and i think BFC have rejected the idea stating that it is the development of the TOEs that is the main timesink when it comes to their workload.
We don't need them, we can make that up ourselves. What we can't do is make the models...

All we really need is a Vehicle Pack like the one for CMBN. We can take it from there...

There is definitely a large (maybe?) group of us who really like the early war stuff. Something that Battlefront seem to have no interest in. That makes me sad. But I still love the game and pretty much buy everything they offer...
-
I guess what I am really asking is, how much did they get to do CMFI.

Unless you actually have won Powerball, I don't think you'll ever get an answer to that.
Maybe I have! Just want to know what the number is...

Just curious, how much would it cost me to move Barbarossa to the front of the line?

Well, as interesting as it might be to argue about how may angles can fit on the point of a pin, the Sturmtiger is still not going into F&R.
After all, this isn't War Thunder. Otherwise we would have the Dicker Max...

It just occurred to me reading this thread that it may not be obvious to non-grogs that a Schwimmwagen is an amphibious vehicle that can cross a river without a ford or bridge.
It has "swim" right in the tile.

what is the decision process to be "assured"? sounds like a risky and difficult decision to make.
Would a pre-order scheme give them an idea? I am willing to tie up money for that. Or some kind of funding scheme.

I expect we'll see more Black Sea/modern, plus more existing stuff ported to Steam, as lower risk / higher benefit choices for a while.
So, just another game company. Oh well...

Sounds like we will roll into Germany with T-72's before we get the opportunity to do the same with T-34.
We're good either way.

forgot a word
It has, but bears repeating. Vehicles are the one thing we can't make- if we had the vehicles, we wouldn't need BFC to make any more games! OK, I see the problem...
