  1. To eliminate the "hassle" and possible delays of using e'mail to deliver instructions and commmands is it possible to use ICQ (or an equivalent? This is much much faster, a qiuck history of message dialogue is available, and you can print if needed. Some programs slow down or have problems if ICQ is running - has CM allowed for such a tool to be used w/o problems? And about that CHEATING thing: It is human nature to want to win, succeed, and prosper. Darwin's entire research was closely related to this. How you may ask? Adapt or perish, simple as that. An ethics professor I once had had an "extra credit" question on the final exam - 'Would you cheat if you knew for certain you would get away with it?' Not a deep question, but a thought provoking one, I answered YES in certain situations blah blah blah... This is only a game. Right? So isn't Little League Baseball, Pop Warner Football, and dodgeball at recess. Now who out there has played dodgeball and been in the middle and NEVER said that the ball missed them (when it actually grazed them)- just to keep going.
  2. Regarding the quote: Buying units is simple. Each side has points to spend depending on the DYO parameters. Both sides buy, both sides fight. I'm familiar with the "buying" units for a scenerio and such, however, my question - is "buying" units only for two player games? Or will the computer player purchase and play? And if so, is it simply random or is AI able to calculate terrain and such to make an attack or defend properly? Thanks
  3. Try this site: http://militaryhistory.miningco.com/ It may answer a few of your questions or at least give you some interesting reading material.
  4. Since Combat Mission is only going to be available by ordering, how successful (by sales) can it be? Has there been any other games that have become successful without appealing to the mass market through store shelves? I suppose I should define my term of successful, well here it goes. By successful I mean a solid game that holds up to the manufacture's claims of course - it seems that CM will hold true. Also, success must come from the number of games sold, a game may have the potential to be great, but become a bust because of low numbers available to play online. Thus, leaving the great game at cult classic. This doesn't necessarily mean I'm going AWOL here, however, the low "interest" may result in a lag in patches, updates, and a decent online gaming zone (liberating that term from MS). I believe the question was asked before: how many games have been pre-ordered? What is BTS's guesstimate on the number of total sales of CM after 3 & 6 months? Oh, one more thing. I wouldn't have known about the development of CM except for that I was looking at Avlon Hill to see if they were developing a game for ASL, and well here I am. Will the game be advertised somehow, magazines or on-line? And why is the message box to type in tiny? Thanks, mikeyb
  5. So what's up with the new location? Does this mean that the game is close to a release date? Further, what isthe significance of pre-oredering the game other than a poster? The game won't cost over $50 (US) will it? The site mentions $81. And lastly, the site only lists a few 3D Video Support Software and it does not mention Vodoo, was this simpl;y not tested? What 3D card woul any of you recommend?
  6. I have been a WWII "war gamer" for years, from the origninal ASL to miniature simulations. With all of the advances in computers and technolgy I have been anxiously waiting for the release of CM - it seems that development has been taking years. How close are we to releasing CM? Further, I have always been a sucker for eastern front warfare - I know that this game is on the western front, but has there been seroius thought for future versions including the eastern front? Lastly, being a fan of eastern front war & my anxious status, why should I wait for CM and not buy CC? I have not played CC but from what I hear it holds its own. Thanks.
