never mind, just saw a review saying it needs fire and rubble but the steam page does not indicate this.
Kinda jaded with that to be honest but I guess I can stretch to another £13 to complete the full bundle at an extra discount...

    Eyebrow firmly raised!🤨🤑🫣

I used to be a big modern CM player but I'm firmly in the WW2 camp now.
Modern games exacerbate all the weaknesses of the engine. I think most people will agree the biggest issues in the game are aircraft(control is very basic and you either shoot them down easily or it's an enemy that you have no control over and completely random), vehicle spotting (T-62's in Cold War especially are crewed by Stevie Wonder) and artillery interaction with tanks (there's a bug where subsystems can't be damaged on tanks.
Modern modules all have more airpower, more tanks and more subsystems.
Until these issues are fixed (when hell freezes over) I'll stick to T-34's and Tigers.

The US actually made 17 pdr Shermans for their own use! Except they didn't make it to Europe in time to participate. Here's what I think is the sole photo of them. M4 Hybrid hull with late side fenders, etc. At depot in Europe.

just gets expensive is all... try to limit my sources, on the whole there's so many subscription's that one can do it all just seems a vacum for ones money. even more so when one has two young kids, and a wife out of work.. lol.so its not that your wrong. its just unpractical.
i'd buy anything combat mission related. even a mug for my coffee...and no, i'm not joking lmao

    I couldn't post the picture any better but the Soviets had lost 60 tanks, 16 other AFV's lost, 971 KIA, 474 wounded I lost 14 tanks, 12 AFV's, 255 KIA 118 wounded.
I played against the AI and that's what George recommends in the briefing. It would be very difficult to win against a human Soviet player with that kind of army. The Soviets still had at least 10 tanks left. I only had 7 left, 1 lost it's main gun and some were very low on ammo and I had no artillery left. Also quite a few of my remaining AFV's were out of ammo.

Ah thank you! This is I think is one of these scenarios I enjoyed making the most. Getting the Soviet AI plan to provide soemthing that resembled a Soviet echeloned attack took some fettling. Though I think the scenario is harder for the Soviets than it was in real life!
Yeah the noise of battle when i took this for its first tests was impressive! But artillery was a feature in this action and was remarked upon by all the eye witness accounts i referenced. Yeah the aircraft add another sound dimension and again were soemthing remarked upon by witnesses.
The Soviets were really understrength at this point especially the armoured units - so you pretty much have the whole of 8th Guards Tank Corps on the map by the end. Sounds impressive but they'd not many tanks left by then. I only had the first infantry from 76th Guard Rifle div from the first few echelons mainly cos the game would have choked and I ran out of AI slots! I am pleased that the sense of being attacked by waves works though as again that's how it felt to the German defenders.
In the actual action Fluegal's group ended up being pinned in the woods on the German right flank whilst Soviet infantry advanced past them. They ended up sitting doggo fending off some Soviet infantry close assaults till they could pull out during the night (this is covered in the Panzergruppe Flugel scenario - though the map used in that one is representative).
Anyways thanks for taking this for spin its a large scenario but good to hear it delivers the experience I was after!
    Many thanks.

Just finished @George MC 's Heart of the Dying Sun scenario and it's one of the wildest I've ever played, it auto ended with 43 minutes to go. For one look at the Soviet Casualties! Some parts of the battlefield you'd have a hard time not stepping on any bodies. The amount of Soviet artillery was amazing, there were very few turns where artillery wasn't falling. The Soviets must have literally fired over 5,000 shells, a lot of times the noise was just incredible, massive artillery, tanks, AA guns, machine guns firing, and Soviet planes flying around at the same time. The planes may not be too effective but after seeing them in here it adds a lot to the battlefield noise.
At times it seemed like things were winding down but it was just a pause as the next human wave of infantry was coming through the smoke and dust. It's not that easy but a very fun scenario.

CMBS is "dead" (or rather, in a coma) because it's obviously a potential PR disaster to market new DLCs for it.
That is clearly not the same as being dead due to selling poorly.

I've always felt that CM captures the chaos on the battlefield better than any game I ever played. Because of the turn system there's always something going on out of sight and you'll hear an explosion or gunfire and go to replay to see what you missed. Just watch some of the AAR videos on youtube and look at the amount of firing going on in all different directions simultaneously and its amazing. Especially in urban environments the bullets, grenades shells etc flying around is nuts. There are improvements that can be made but I'll continue to play and purchase more games like Downfall.

I can't remember if this came during blitzkrieg or after. Germany put a lot into AAA at the end, flak towers etc.

No game is perfect and no game company has ever had a game where none of their customers ever had a complaint or didn't want any more improvements. Some people like CM, some like Graviteam, some any of the others of the myriad of WWII games. to each his own.
Until a perfect game comes up we should be happy that the companies we support continue to make improvements and additions to our games.

    CM is unique and awesome.
That said, I think we all want better performance, cleaner UI, more fronts, era's and more.
I am happy that Battlefront has managed to stay in business selling Combat Mission games, and I choose to see the glass half full and enjoy what we have.

I have played Graviteam Tactics, Armored Brigade, War in the East, and Command: Modern Operations. Graviteam Tactics and Armored Brigade model tactical ground warfare with far less detail than Combat Mission. War in the East and Command: Modern Operations do indeed offer impressive levels of detail. But War in the East models ground warfare at the operational/strategic layer, not the tactical layer. And Command: Modern Operations is more about naval and air warfare than ground warfare. At present, nothing does tactical ground warfare like Combat Mission.
Never is a very long time, and I have no doubt that someday someone will produce something that measures up to Combat Mission. But I'm not expecting that day to come anytime soon.
