The Last Frontier released November 4, 2020, (Russian title: Podolsk Cadets).
It's about the 3,500 infantry and artillery cadets stationed in Podolsk, an industrial city south of Moscow during the battle for Moscow
Filming of The Last Frontier took place at the actual battle site in Kaluga Region. The river, bridge, houses, fortified areas and soldiers' uniforms and weapons were all carefully recreated, based on surviving records.
CGI accounts for only 10 percent of the special effects. Instead, original German armored personnel carriers and Pz. IV, Pz. II and Pz. 38 tanks, Soviet 45 mm anti-tank guns and legendary T-34 were restored from museums and brought on set.
The movie was made from the same producers who made Brest Fortress and The Battalion. The first link has a description of the film and a 4 minute trailer. The second link is to teh main movie site and your browser should be able to translate the page.
Looks like it might be a decent movie. I haven't been able to find out if there is a DVD or streaming site with English subtitles yet.

One thing that most CM titles come with is separate tagged terrian art for heavy rocks using the word [rubble]. If you use that tag in you scenario  heavy rock tile becomes broken building debris. That's how you get city scenarios with blasted buildings and rubble blocked streets.

If you look at the scenarios that have been created in the Scenario Depot you will find very few comments. Maybe if more people made some comments on how the liked them or what needs improvement we can get more user created scenarios and campaigns.
There have been quite a few new scenarios created for Normandy over the last two months, some quite detailed and are worth looking into and playing.

There will be a delay on the next part of this series. Need to work on the campaign itself this weekend and then dissemble my home office. I'm getting a custom designed home office installed on Monday. Hopefully back with you late next week.

I recieved my copy of Bloody Streets today 😁
I have obviosly not read it yet...simply had a quick look at it...
The book comes with high quality paper, A4-size (standard printersize). A decent number of pictures...not exesive though.
    Close to 500 pages...
As for the map-book...most maps are fairly high altitude areal photos. Some other maps are included also but the vast majority of them cover a fairly large area...
Will it be useful for scenario design ?
Maybe...to some degree i guess. The pictures will give you a good picture of the larger area but perhaps not so much when it comes to being able to plot down the individual buildings and other terrain features with the highest level of accuracy.
I will dive into the book comes weekend 😊.

The better QB got the fewer 3rd party scenarios got made. Back-in-the-day if you wanted to fight specific units against specific units you needed to make it yourself because the QB engine wasn't mature yet. Now you select what you want, select the map, weather, season and region you want, and have at it. A well constructed scenario is of course much preferable but its more work.
When making scenario orders a pen and pad of paper at your elbow is your friend.😥  It seems a lot of new scenario designers suffer from being over-ambitious. Scenario making is hard if you make it hard, and its easy if you make it easy. Choreographing the movements of an infantry battalion across a 3km map for a 2 hour battle really is hard. Doing a company-scale battle across 1.5km is easier. Doing two squads crossing an 800m map is even easier.

I'm guessing that a few scenariodesigners have been and still are in...waiting-mode.
BFC have been struggeling to fix some of the AI 'bugs'...several have been delt with but yet more AI improvements will be released with the F&R module for CMRT.
Hopefully scenariodesigning will pick up somewhat shortelly.

It needs some rubble around it. Otherwise it looks like it was built that way even with bullet holes and cracks.

I'm just about finished with Volume 2 of The Oderfront 1945 by  Stephan Hamilton. The Germans did pretty good considering the odds. Hopefully there will be quite a few scenarios for that.

This is still a ww2 movie thread I think -- why do we expect a stupid movie to handle all these issues?  Russia seems to pump out  these war-action-patriotic movies by the dozen.  It's like asking why Rambo-genre movies don't explore the complexities of the Vietnam war from multiple perspectives with in depth consideration of atrocities by all sides.  Answer: because these are dreadfully stupid war-actio-patriotism movies that sometimes have really cool battles.  Why are we grading these things like history books?  If the gear looks good and the battles look realistic then I got my (free) money's worth.

I have narrowed the tracks by leaving a space to place a platform for passengers who take the trains on the other 2 tracks

And I added another railroad track

Well go find them smarty pants - I spent two weeks on a course studying railway yards in the European theatre and had to endure a 30 minute Deutsche Bundesbahn video on how shunting yards work.  I travel on trains frequently and because I am a trained imagery analyst - I look at stuff and how things should look like and what looks out of place.
