Commanderski got a reaction from Quick173 in Just finished Heart of the Dying Sun scenario
Just finished @George MC 's Heart of the Dying Sun scenario and it's one of the wildest I've ever played, it auto ended with 43 minutes to go. For one look at the Soviet Casualties! Some parts of the battlefield you'd have a hard time not stepping on any bodies. The amount of Soviet artillery was amazing, there were very few turns where artillery wasn't falling. The Soviets must have literally fired over 5,000 shells, a lot of times the noise was just incredible, massive artillery, tanks, AA guns, machine guns firing, and Soviet planes flying around at the same time. The planes may not be too effective but after seeing them in here it adds a lot to the battlefield noise.
At times it seemed like things were winding down but it was just a pause as the next human wave of infantry was coming through the smoke and dust. It's not that easy but a very fun scenario.

Happy end of daylight savings time to my fellows in the US! The clocks changed automatically and all of a sudden I'm sitting at the computer typing at 4am. I think its time to go to bed now. 😵‍💫

It seems more difficult for the germans against a human player.
Against the AI it was very enjoyable except the time limit too tight (it's frustrating when you are so close to the objective).

Ah nice one  it’s a handy wee AI plan device for sure. I’ve also used it for having the turrets of advancing tanks swing about as though searching. Just plot the area fire point out of their LOF. They’ll swing the turrets to face the plotted area fire point but not fire.

But otherwise I tend to use it is mainly for effect as you have to make an educated guess where the player might be defending. Latest etc can make this more educated and less guess though!

So in this case I’m glad it gave the impression of engaging a more sentient enemy! Immersion is what I’m shooting for!

I'm playing @George MC's Red Thunder Campaign Five Days One Summer and I'm on the 4th mission. I set up an ambush with 3 tanks in the town of Gliniszcze, which has a border of trees on all sides about 20 meters wide. Shortly after I set them up 3 Soviet tanks arrive and I dispatch them pretty quickly. After a little while I see two more approaching. They get within and 30 to 40 meters of the tree line then stop.  They then proceed to rake the entire tree line with their machine guns and main guns. This went on for about a full 10 minutes (10 turns) with them raking the whole line and concentrating on a small area in front of them with their main guns. I didn't have any units in or near the tree line.
They blasted away an opening for them then they went in through the opening they made and stopped again. They again proceeded to start shooting at the next set of trees and the houses. I didn't have anybody in the houses either. My tanks were between some houses on the main road but I had to wait for them to get in the line of fire as since they were already facing me I couldn't approach them from the front for a shot and couldn't work my way around them as there were over watch tanks that would blast me since I would have been in the open.
Eventually they worked their way into my tanks line of fire and I was able to get them both. I have never played a scenario where the designer had the tanks proactively started shooting at areas where the opponent might likely be. It's almost as they were thinking on their own. It added a bit more excitement to the game to say the least.

The AI areafire feature that got added a while back is a small but very useful feature. It adds a nice punch to the AI. Regular infantry squads and other supportweapons like machineguns etc can also be set to do simular things and the AI on-map mortars can now provide some decent, well timed, indirect firesupport.

New stuff for the Stalingrad Mod V-2

As there are no Barns used in the Stalingrad i've made them into a factory building.

Also i've adapted the Indie buildings to fir Stalingrad better.

The grain Silo is ok but the main office part needs to be about 12 -14 stories high?

A Soviet patrol near the western Railway.

Love this new indie factory office building.

It would be useful, but I'm not aware of a way.  Hopefully someone will enlighten us.
Someone said in another thread that the core units have asterisks (*) in their names, but I believe that's usually the convention to indicate historical individuals/units?  The campaign designer could add a C (or sumfink) after core unit names, but I think they already have enough to do.  Perhaps in future 'the code' could do something like this?

1- being able to follow up and tell how one is doing on achieving the victory conditions (vs. Waiting end of scenario to know for sure)
2- to keep vehicle wrecks and building rubbles in campaign mode when returning to a map or area already played in a previous scenario of a campaign
3- being able to set markers on the map
4- in campaign mode keep a more detailed records for each pixel troopen and how they’ve been doing.
5- a medal board for the pixel troopen
6- to be able to choose a squad (or tank) leader personified to one player with the aim to lead him to the end of the campaign

Even if it was 30 minutes in my 3 hour game, that would be do-able (and useful).  Otherwise you have a big chunk of metal sat in the wrong place right up to 3 hours.

Some console games cost as much as franchise superhero movies to produce. If you want BFC to spend $ 100 million developing their next game you probably wouldn't like the price tag at the end.

I agree that Kursk is underrated for variety. The bulge was almost 200 kms across and had everything from the pancake steppe above to rolling hills and a mini Stalingrad at Ponyri.
Personally I prefer smaller scenarios but those can be set anywhere. Not every action at Kursk was a battalion sized fight of course.

Exactly one year after the first announcement, the project is now finished. In order to avoid
misunderstandings on the part of the company Battlefront.com, I chose the name CampaignPack 😎.
The pack (as described in former threads) consists of 5 campaigns in which the player is thrown
into the events of the summer of 1944 in the sector of the German Army Group Center.
In total you will play minium 52 single missions, maximum 55 single missions (depending on one
branch). To avoid technical problems, I didn't add any mods to the campaigns. But I can, for example,
highly recommend the excellent work of @JM Stuff, especially his extraordinary mod collection of vehicles
    and wrecks 👍
I recently visited the forum regularly to stay in touch with people who wanted to register. However, I have
asked the people at Battlefront.com several times to delete my profile.  This request has not yet been
granted to me, so as a quasi "undead" I will always stop by - but I will no longer take part in any discussions
or answer any questions in the forum. To get in touch with me, please write to me at:
    E-Mail: f-s-zbg@web.de.😎
Of course, I can still send the campaign pack to anyone interested.

So all I can say is:
It was a great pleasure for me to finish this project and share it with many people.
I hope you have as much fun playing as I did creating it 🙏

    Best regards
    Mr.X
