From that site I strongly recommend "Changing an Army", from Gen. Depuy. Hevy file, but is a jewell. Ariel [This message has been edited by argie (edited 10-15-2000).]

Building Destruction damage to units.
argie replied to Mother Theresa's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Dear Mother, Is well known that in CM if you have troops in the upper floor of a collapsing building, you lost it... Is an intended feature and is very accurate... Remember that casualties are not all KIA, but disabled for the time of the battle. That could be something like twisting an ankle when you suddenly falls from the upper floor to the lower with the roof falling over your head When a building falls, all inside it suffers... Ariel -
Two questions about anarmored vehicles
argie replied to Tanaka's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)

quote:
Originally posted by pzvg: Oh and Tanaka, no offense but the armor thickness of an M3 HT doesn't exactly qualify it as an armored vehicle, at least not to anything bigger than .30 cal

But CM treats M3 HTs as armoured vehicles to calculate hit probabilities, which is Tanaka's complain about unarmored vehicles. Oddity in PBEM attachment file?
argie replied to John Kettler's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
John, Is an issue in how the OS reads the name... I use the date column to sort my turns, that way I get the last turn just in top... But I still don't know how to make visible the date column in some programs... I have it in Outlook Express, but don't in CM Ariel -
CCCR=SSSR Sovietskaya Soyuz Socialistik Republik or something like that. Ariel

I think the IF side has more evidence in that thread because they are the ones that must convince BTS to change things Also, I don't think that making DP guns could be easy to code. And the real issue with IF vs DF is one of the CM scale most of the rarity of usage. In IF, even the short barrel guns have a greater minimal effective than mortars. And this are GUNS, not HOWITZERS, which where made to fire in high angles. I could be really wrong with all this, but seems logical to me Ariel

I got very good results with the Tiger I after I start to use it as a sort of Stg. If you uses it as a turretless vehicle, then Tiger rocks. In fact, is one of my favorites German tanks. Ariel

Steve, lock this thread! The next thing is someone asking how many native Nations have existed in the USA territory two centuries ago and how many there are today to justify the Englification thing Ariel

The weaks armor spots are ever the same, no matter the armor quality (MG bows, firing slits, etc), so there is no point in increasing the chance to hit one for having a lesser armor quality Ariel
-
I think Steve or Charles said in one thread not so long ago that is like Tanaka states in his first question. I.e. : 101mm armor 85% quality = 85.85mm Ariel

End of Game Results for Campaigns
argie replied to Slapdragon's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Mostro, That could be great!!! We are developing the CM Meta Campaign in CMHQ, and this tool could be our salvation!... Could you please explain in which are you thinking in more detail, please? Thanks. Ariel -

The Case for Repair/Recovery
argie replied to Aussie Smith's topic in Combat Mission Archive #2 (2000)
Aussie, Althought the recovery in battle conditions could be done from time to time, it isn't a standard or even desirable procedure. Even if the recovery is done under fire, most likely should be to get the tank out of enemy sight for further repair than to put it and the more valuable asset, the recovery vehicle, in a good fire position. I think Steve tried to said that, taking it in consideration, doing what you suggested could be considered gamey... OTOH, if you makes 2 tanks push an immobilized tank in straight line, you could make it goes everywhere I do it playing Villiers against the AI once, I got Witman tank Immobilized and used 2 Tigers to push him right in Villiers, firing all the time Ariel [This message has been edited by argie (edited 09-11-2000).] [This message has been edited by argie (edited 09-11-2000).] -

LOL I just made a test using a scenario designed by Bullethead. The wooden bridge blows with ~30 105mm rounds hits. The "light" stone bridge collapses with betwween 35 and 40 105mm hits. The large stone bridge took more than 180 105mm hits and no damage is noted Ariel
