  1. Peter, Blah, blah, blah America sucks...Everybody hates America... I get really tired of this self-perpetuating myth. I am American. I am proud of being American. I have travelled abroad many times and never hidden the fact and have NEVER encountered any anti American sentiment. On the opposite hand, in France, in Germany, in Belgium, in Austrailia, and elsewhere, I have NEVER encountered any of this alledged anti-American snobbery. I make friends where ever I go, because I am friendly, and not a snob myself. The golden rule, man... I dreaded going to France, from what I had "heard", but I found the French people I met were all very friendly and helpful. I do not speak French, and it was clear to them that I didn't. However I did have a english-french dictionary, and did TRY to ask my questions in French... Nationalism is dying fast people. Like it or not. Hating somebody because of their home nation is one of the fundimental reasons there are so many little white crosses. If you can't find it in your heart to judge someone on their own merits, then pity be unto you, oh small minded cretins. "Judge not, lest thee be judged yourself!" By the way, when I was in the Hall of the unknowns at Verdun (where there are about 100,000 unknowns buried), it was someone with a commonwealth accent who was ignoring the "take off your hats and don't talk" rile, so idiocy is NOT purely an American value). 2. Well, I still haven't received mine yet and my card was billed almost a week ago!!! Last friday. Two days to ship? My ass. I preordered months ago as well. Better be here by tomorrow...
  3. Bumrush, Haben Sie die neue Änderung am programm installierte? V1.01? Die Explosionen sind ausgezeichnet! Hoffentlich werden Sie mit die simulation vielen spass haben. (Entschuldigungen Sie mein deutsche) Zamo
  4. Ricky, I assume when your guys are walking away, it's after they have taken fire right? What if a few of them were wounded? Haven't you ever seen the footage of guys helping they're wounded comrades away, one guy with his arm over the others shoulders? They don't sprint. I really don't know how CM models this, or why the guys walk away slow, but I always assumed it was because some of the squad are wounded. Zamo
  5. Fortunatly, the weather has been great up here in the Puget Sound (I suppose thats relatively), and I have been out on a boat skiing, diving and getting smashed the last couple of evenings with some pals and the new and improved CHICK 2000. Needless to say...CM? Who? Oh sure, I have been giving an eye to the mail when its delivered, but I am so glad there is other stuff to do. It is summer after all. (my brainwashing is so good I almost believe this myself!) Zamo
  6. Do these guys kick butt or what???!!! Zamo Still awaiting nirvanna (no, not the band you foolish cretins!)
  7. Study. Cheating is for dirtbags. If it's too late to study, fail and take your lumps. Personal responsibility!!!!!! Wait a minute...Knowing you had a test tomorrow and were not up to speed, you could have studied, but instead you went and got drunk???!!! I shake my head... Mark IV, I don't think the Marine Corps would be interested in somebody who cheats. Honor may be an anochronistic trait everywhere else, but it is still very real in the Corps. Zamo
  8. Ooooh, Capt. Manieri, You crack me up! I wish I were able to trhow down a beer or two with you. I'm out here on the "wet" coast and I doubt I shall see CM until tomorrow at the earliest. DON'T GO DRIVING. I have had a good pal end up six feet below by being stupid and it ain't worth it! You crack me up...Oh to be young again! Zamo
  9. Well, I WOULD have nominated our good friend the Captain, but in the name of morality, responsibility, and good common sense, I can't, in good faith, provide that endorsement to a teenager who is drunk on a monday (when I can't be!) Despite his absense and any personal differences between our veiwpoints, I must nominate Fionn Kelly. His dedication actually seems to go beyond "most devoted fan", and actually may approach "unpaid keeper-of-the-faith". Yet in a group of die-hards as we have here, his is the name which jumps out for recognition. Zamo
  10. Do tell, sir, where you are located? Enjoy! Zamo
  11. Well put Babra, 300 meters is a stones throw for tank-to-tank engagements. Wasn't the Achilles the British version of the m-10? Zamo
  12. You never cease to amaze me Captain. A graph? Interesting. I have not been forth coming with this information because I really can't remember. It was late...like last Nov. or Dec. if memory serves, but I really don't remember. Perhaps even later? What do you plan on concluding with your graph? Somesort of mean order/shipping curve? Very admirable, but I think you might be better off going and seeing a movie or chasing women or reading a book. It hurts me to see you so obsessed with getting this game!!! Take care, sorry I don't have a better answer. Zamo
  13. BTS already has plans for an entire line of Combat Mission sequals. Next is the Eastern front. Unfortunatly, there are no plans regarding a Pacific theater game. Do a search on it and you'll see it's been discussed rabidly over and over for the last couple years. In a nut shell Steve and Charles are big fans of the ETO and don't have any interest i doing a PTO game. Zamo
  14. Lusty, busty, babes Frolick in the surf I have a boner
  15. I might as well jump on the band wagon. Mine was charged for $53 on the 16th, so I'll be a little behing the point folks here. Only one more small bit of breath holding to go!!! On an aside, I am currently playing my first PBEM game and having a great time. I look forward to getting "dicey" with more of you after the game comes out. Boy, human players sure add a different element don't they? They really bring this game to life. My initial plan DID NOT survive contact with the enemy, and my opponant is expressing surprise after surprise at my actions and reactions. So far it's not my best game, but the situation is well in hand. Have fun all! Zamo
  16. I HAD to go over to the CC board at TGN and see for myself what's going on from "their" viewpoint. It is silly and ignorant of anyone whether they are CC or CM orientated to slam the other game. I thought that sort of thing ended after high school. Wait a minute, I guess we should expect it after all, our "great leaders" still send us off to die with the "our country is better than your country" lie. Human nature? We're doomed! I have played all the CC's and simply prefer CM. I have never posted anything over there and never shall. It's a none issue. I am now going to promise never to mention CC here again. As I said, it's a none issue. Within a week I will have my CM installed and I wonder if I shall ever have time againg to post anything here??? Let's all just drop it. We're all wargamers. Zamo
  17. I think I'll change the German flag to the Canadian flag and REALLY have some fun!!! Just like Southpark!!! Naturally I AM kidding. I have several Canadian friends and spend alot of time in B.C., But still! Zamo Canadian humor is second only to British humor in terms of hilarity.
  18. I really hope Jochen, that what we're seeing is simply a little anxiety on the part of folks eagerly awaiting their own copy of CM. I generally think the patrons of CM and posters in this forum are a more sophisticated clientel, and generally above such nonsense. We shall see Hmmm? Christian Sehmel Seattle "Zamo" the magnificent
  19. Wow! What a great thread! I haven't seen several of these in far TOO LONG, such as the afore mentioned "Wind and the Lion", I love the scene where the Marines run throught the streets and sieze the embasy! "Hell in the Pacific" is another great one you don't hear too much about these days, though I recently picked it up on DVD. I didn't really like "Stalingrad" as much as I had hoped I would. The Soviet tank assault in the snow is the best part, but towards the end it just got...weird... I think I'd have to second "Kelly's Hero's" and "Battle of the Bulge" as my two favorite war flicks though, just basing that on number of times viewed. How many of you have the "Panzerleid" memorized? Zamo "Ob's stürmt oder schneit...."
  20. Combat arms...the only answer. What ever choice you make, be at the front of the spear. To paraphrase G.S.Patton Jr.: "...You won't have to tell your grandson you shovelled **** in Louisianna" Zamo Oh to be young again and do it all over!!!
  21. I just jotted some stuff down in Capt. Manieri's Reserve topic, and noted a couple of Marines there, then I just noted another Marine in another topic, and thus decided to see how many of "the few and the proud" are lurking around here. Semper Fi! Sgt.Sehmel, former tank commander with "B" Co. 4th Tank Battalion, 4th MarDiv, 1982-1988
  22. Capt. Manieri, If it is in your heart, than yes. You should join the reserves. I did. Now, eighteen years later I look back and miss it more than anything else in my life. However, I must also advocate what our esteemed Bullethead and 0311 said, and must ask you to consider the Marines. I'm not going to fall into the trap alot of people do and bad mouth the other services, but I can and will offer a plug for the USMC. And naturally, I must also advocate becoming a Tanker. I can tell you from experiance that a reserve tank billit isn't dull. There is too much that needs to be done in a weekend for it to be dull. We trained hard and routinely outshot our active duty counter parts. Do yourself a favor and at least go talk to your friendly neighborhood Jarhead recruiter before making any decisions. Thats all I ask. Somebody above stated that Army boot camp these days is easy...I don't think you'll find that at Parris Island, at least I pray you do not. Do something you'll be proud of for the REST OF YOUR LIFE! Sehmel, C.H. (former)Sgt. "B" Co., 4th Tank Battalion, 4th MarDiv (Yakima) Tank Commander of "Bravo-Two-Three"
