  1. I've been lurking for a year now...
  2. I ordered mid June last year sometime...
  3. I used to buy a lot of games, but have to budget my time more carefully now. In the past year, I bought: Asheron's Call (Good game, I spend a lot of time on it...being a monarch ain't easy!) Panzer Elite Starfleet Command CM Beta Demo (well, I didn't really BUY this one ) Unreal Tournament (Nightly fragfests with my coworkers at 5...it's great stress relief ) Civ II Gold (Got my wife into this one!) Birth of the Federation (disappointing ) Baldur's Gate That's about everything that I've bought in the last year, all in all I think I've shown some good restraint... ------------------ You can't shake the Devil's hand and say you're only kidding...
  4. Actually - they only made 6 episodes of the Ben Stiller Show, and FOX only aired 5 of them. Comedy Central picked it up and will show all 6 of them from time to time. It was a wonderful show - and about 2 to 3 years ahead of its time... ------------------ You can't shake the Devil's hand and say you're only kidding...
  5. I think Hitler's biggest mistakes: 1) Not understanding global warfare. If Germany had secured North Africa, Malta and the Middle East, it would have made it far easier to starve Britian into submission. 2) Impatience. If he hadn't attacked the Soviet Union so quickly, but instead taken North Africa and the Middle East and consolidated his gains in Europe for a year or two, it would have been much more difficult to defeat Germany, or to even invade "Fortress Europe". ------------------ You can't shake the Devil's hand and say you're only kidding...
  6. I want to feast on the sloats and breakfast cereals, myself. Madmatt: yes, Bela Lugosi is dead, and the Passion of Lovers is for Death...did you catch the Resurection Tour? ------------------ Inferi nihil timent, non habent. [This message has been edited by Scott (edited 01-18-2000).]
  7. My wife enjoys Panzer General 2 - she likes the way the tanks and such move around and shoot . When I tried to show her Axis and Allies, I believe her words were: "Why would anyone waste time on this?". Mrs. Von Shrad, welcome! As Fionn said, most of us are house trained, and I occasionally remember to put the toilet seat down... 3 posts tonight! Someone has definately spiked my coffee! ------------------ Inferi nihil timent, non habent.
  8. Why can't the Germans just use acronyms for everything like the US does? That way, not only is it unpronouncable (like those compound german words), but they could mean any of a hundred different things.... My god...two posts in one night...someone must have spiked my coffee... ------------------ Inferi nihil timent, non habent.
  9. Fionn: From Texas! What were you thinking?? My wife lived many years in Texas, also, so I feel your pain... As for a maximum release date, I don't feel that it is all that important. I gave BTS my preorder back in June or something, so I trust them to release CM when it is ready to be released. I am sure you can all find time to bone up on your tactics while waiting for the game to be released...I know I am! I am more of a strategically minded person, myself, and have much to learn... Hmm...kind of a long post - I better make sure I'm not spotted, I don't know what they do to lurkers here Down periscope! ALARM!!! ------------------ Inferi nihil timent, non habent.
  10. LOL Doug - wait till you here what I have to say about The Bill's labyrinth of a website.... ------------------ Inferi nihil timent, non habent.
  11. In answers to your Win2000 questions - Windows 2000 is Windows NT 5.0; Windows NT has never used DOS and was primarily a networking OS in the beginning. Windows 2000 Workstation edition is aimed both at corporate and home users. There will be one more release of Windows after Windows 98 Second Edition based on the Windows 95 kernel, after that, no more DOS. Personally, I'd love to see the Linux version of CM...
  12. Before Lt_Cigarette damages the reputation of us lurkers, I'd just like to thank everyone involved with CM. I, for one, really appreciate the work that is being done - both on CM itself, and on the fansites like CMHQ. Thanks! BTW - make sure you take new year's eve off - and new year's day too, if you do the night before right!
  13. I usually take an overview with view 7, then settle down with view 3 for most of the planning phase. I will occasionally use 1 or 2 when I am concentrating on one or two units. Of course, I like Tab+1 to get the view from the Tiger... Overall, I have found view 3 to be the most useful for me.
  14. Morte - the fire is definately on - in Last Defense, an American Arty strike managed to hit the open top of one of my HT's, and it was on fire for the rest of the game. In the Reisburg scenario, the Americans set a whole house on fire for about 10 minutes! Thankfully, I only had the sole survivor of a green squad in there...
  15. Don't feel like an idiot...took me 10 frustrating minutes to figure out that I couldn't save because the caps lock key messed with the hotkeys - and I'm in tech support!
