1. I'll play too. Just let me know whats going on and how you are going to pair people up. My email is in my profile. ------------------ Scott ----------- I never spellcheck and I'm damn proud of it!!!
2. Chill out Fionn. Is it possible for you to answer a question without coming across as a jerk. I mean the guy asked a decent question and the first thing you do is start shooting off at him. I have been following this board for a long time and I have been impressed with your knowledge of WW2 and the time that you have given to this game. But I have definately not been impressed by your manners! I mean can a person bring up a topic without being cut down by you.
quote:
Originally posted by Fionn: Well, seeing as it is a "fantasy" squad type by your calculations ( which just might be missing a few sources BTW) I'd have to say that the only possible reason is that everyone was high at the time of their inclusion. That or their books showed it wasn't a fantasy squad ( remember, you may not have all the info in your books ).

3. I would have to agree with Fionn here. I always leave my tanks unbuttoned. The TC know when to get down and button up and they do it quickly if neccesary. I don't think I have even lost a single TC this way. The increase in visiibility more than makes up for the slight vunulerability. I have seen many instances where this extra visibilty has gotten me tank kills that I would have missed if I had been buttoned. Not to mention my tanks would have been destroyed if they had been buttoned. Tank combat boils down to who gets the first shot most of the time. Especially at close range. I feel more confident that I will get that first shot if my tanks are unbuttoned. ------------------ Scott [This message has been edited by PoisonKitchen (edited 06-22-2000).]
4. To poistion the flags you need to preview your map. Once the 3d view of the map is loaded up you can select the victory flags and place them just like units. I hope that helps. ------------------ Scott
5. No, Pathfinder. I didn't read anything about this scenario before I played it. That takes all the fun away. I guess lady luck was just smiling on me then.
6. I just finished this scenario too. It was the first one I loaded up when I got the game. I did pretty well. I played as the Americans and advanced slowly on the victory location. I sent the Staurts around the flanks and split up the rest of my tanks in to two forces. The first force consisted of two shermans and the M10 with the second force consisting of the other two shermans. The first force I advanced up the main road using the bounding overwatch approach. The second force I moved around to the right and tried to get in a good hull down position behind the wheat field. On about turn four I made contact with 2 panthers and and assualt guns moving up the main road toward the town. Only one of my tanks had gotten in to position by that time and he was quickly dispatched. The next turn was one of the most amazing displays of firepower. I ordered all of my tanks to hunt forward some more to get in position. As the replay started all of my tanks moved into LOS of the enemy. After about eight or ten shots by my tanks the outskirts of the town was littered with five dead and burning tanks. All this for the cost of only one sherman on the right flank. It was amazing!! The first enemy tank to be destroyed was a Pz IV J and it exploded castrophically. I tell you those new explosions are amazing. On the next turn I continued to move my Staurts around the flanks and inched Pool's sherman into a position on the wooded hill above the wheatfield. On the action phase of this turn another panther tank showed up and exchanged shots with Pool's tank. Unfortunately the panthers thick frontal armor protected him well and after two shots richoceting off he was able to knock out Pool's tank. Meanwhile my Staurt on the right flank was working its way through the woods on the right flank and near the end of the turn fired one shot right through the side of the turret of the panther, knocking him out. I couldn't believe it! My Staurt knocked a panther out. You should have saw me jumping up and down in front of my computer. On the next turn another panther appeared and my other Stuart got into the game and knocked him out with a side penetration. Two panther kills by two Staurts. I was impressed! All that was left now was the moping up of the crews and seizing of the victory objectives. I think my final score was 78-22 or something close to that. I had lost three tanks and killed seven of the enemy. I also only had 1 KIA which I thought was kind of neat. Thanks Wild Bill for making a great scenario that was a lot of fun. ------------------ Scott [This message has been edited by PoisonKitchen (edited 06-21-2000).]
7. Do any body know what driver version it is that fixes it so that you can see the high quality smoke and explosions? Right now I get the blocky smoke and I have to use the low quality smoke. Thanks in advance. ------------------ Scott
8. I had the same thing happen to me. I called the post office and they said they had a package for me. So I cut out of work to pick it up and all they had was the poster. The poster is pretty cool though!
9. I have been away from my computer for a couple of days. Has anyone got the full game yet? ------------------ Scott
10. There was a thread awhile back by a couple people who were starting to write one but I haven't heard anything in awhile. Does anyone know anything about it? ------------------ Scott

12. I don't know about you guys but my credit card has already been charged for CM. Maybe because why card was set to expire at the end of May. I also ordered pretty early. ------------------ Scott
13. I just wanted to bump this back up. ------------------ Scott
14. I'm looking for some opponents to play in PBEM. I have played CM alot but I still haven't played againist a human yet. Anyone who wants to play a game send me a setup. Pick any side you want and whatever map you want. I wouldn't mind having multiple games going on at the same time so please email me. ------------------ Scott
15. I posted this to get this back to the top of the board. I would like to hear from BTS why this view was taken away and if there is anyway of getting it back. Thanks. ------------------ Scott
16. I have a question about the views in the GD. In the beta demo if you selected one of your tanks, hit "1", and the TAB key it would position the view from the turret. Basically from the point of view of the tank commander when he's unbuttoned. Its was a great view to use during the playbacks. For some reason I can't seem to duplicate this in the Gold Demo. When I selct the tank and lock the view its not in the same place. It now views the tank from behind instead of from the turret. Has anyone noticed this? Its not a big deal but new view is pretty much worthless because the tank blocks your view of whats ahead. Could someone help me with this? BTS? P.S. Thanks for making the ultimate game. ------------------ Scott

18. To do a screen grab in windows, hit the print screen button which copies the screen to your clipboard. It can then be pasted into whatever graphics program your computer has. ------------------ Scott
19. My handle, PoisonKitchen, comes from what Hitler and the Nazis called the Munich Times. They kept printing the truth about the Nazis and their atroicities when other newspapers bowed to the Nazi pressure. They kept it up until Hitler had Fritz Gerlich, the lead editor, killed. Just my way to honor their courage even though their story has been largely forgotten. ------------------ Scott
20. In the recent update post Steve hinted at a third person helping them. He called him Superman. I love to try and figure out mysteries so here is who I think the mystery man is. I think the mystery man is CCJ. I think at this stage in the development in would make sense for them to let him help with the final textures and sound. We have all seen what he can do and it would also free up some time for them to work on other things. I am probably completely wrong but I haven't seen any posts from CCJ recently so maybe he is hard at work on the real thing. Its possible. Oh well I'm probably wrong and he's on vacation or something but it just seems like a convienent coincidence. It fun guessing anyway. What do you guys think? Scott
21. BTS, How big can the battles be in CM? I think I remember reading somewhere that the biggest map size available is 5 km X 3 km. What about units? How many can you have for each side? Is the number unit type dependent? Thanks. ------------------ Scott
22. Thanks for the help guys. What do you guys know about the structure of assualt gun companies? ------------------ Scott
23. I have a couple of questions on the force structure of German tank groups. What is the typical structure of a tank battalion? I thinking about some possible scenarios for CM that I would like to create. My guess so far is that a tank battalion consists of (2 or 3) companies and each company consists (2) platoons. Each platoon consisting of five tanks. That gives me a guess of between 20-30 tanks in a battalion. But my guess is that its probably more because I didn't take in to account a tank for the company commanders and the battalion commander. What do you guys think. I'm sure someone out there has a handy chart or something that spells it all out. If so could you email it to me. Thanks. Another question for BTS. How big can the battles be? What I mean is how many units can there be on each side? Is the number unit dependent? Thanks. You guys are doing a great job. I can't wait for the game but take your time and get everything right. It worth waiting for. Also spend some time with your families, you guys deserve it. Later. ------------------ Scott
24. Can German armored cars in CM carry passengers? I've been doing some reading on German tactics and it was common for armored car patrols to carry a arty FO with them in case they needed to bring down some fire. ------------------ Scott
