  1. And as the gun pivots completely around to prolong backwards, any incoming fire is to the flanks and rear. This makes the unit more brittle. I've experienced this.
  2. This is nitpicking and I know it: When moving a gun, why does it have to excessively rotate (angles < 270 AND > 90) by turning the forward part of the gun towards its intended movement direction? It's pretty painful to watch an inf gun pivot 180 degrees before prolonging backwards just to have it pivot 180 degrees again to face forward. It should be easy enough to push most guns in either direction. In some cases it should be far easier to pull a gun. Mortars do the same thing but they rotate quick enough for the rotation not to be bothersome. This is not so with most guns.
  3. Have you tried disabling any screen savers/virus checkers/etc...? How about reducing desktop resolution to see if the freezing problem goes away? I presume you're running DirectX 9.1? It sounds like a video memory buffer overrun leading to locking. You certain the fan on the ti4200 has clean blades? -Patrick
  4. Operating system? This problem sounds like a DirectX issue. Head over to Microsoft DirectX site and install 9.1a. -Patrick
  5. That’s the quickest way to have a computer die. Try the following: while your computer is booting, press the F8 key to enter safe mode. If the computer enters safe mode and things look fairly “OK” (no hiccups), then start-shutdown-restart. However if your computer still acts weird in safe mode, then you’ll need to start burning cd’s of whatever you cannot afford to lose. Btw, get a UPS. Buy a named brand like APC.
  6. There’s a problem limiting the attacker’s width; spoiler bombardment. The defender would probably launch artillery and rocket attacks early. One method to get around edge side attackers is to play with large maps and reduce the total amount of game turns.
  7. Interesting problem. After you installed CMBO and launched the game, did you get to a screen asking what screen preferences you want? "3D DirectX Test:..." If so, which resolution did you select? Which version of DirectX are you running? (Start - Run - DxDiag) If you did not receive the "3D DirectX Test" screen, go to your CMBO directory and delete the "Combat Mission Bynd Ovr Prefs" 1k file (if it exists). Then try re-loading CMBO. -Patrick
  8. It is odd the game does not force reboot while playing EQ. You may want to install the newer drivers from www.guru3d.com. Go to downloads, then Nvidia. Make sure you remove your current driver before installing this new one (44.10 Detonator). If 44.10 does not resolve your problem, try playing the game with the computer casing off. This will help diagnosis if an overheating problem exists. Btw, I presume you've done the usual scandisk/defrag/virus disabling/etc... -Patrick
