  1. Well, I have just downloaded the full game again, re-installed it and...surprise! it is still v1.02... As I cannot install the 1.03 patch for some reason (Battlefront's people couldn't tell me why) I will have to wait until the full game will be updated to v.103. Anyway, it's my fault, I placed the question in the wrong place. Cheers, P.
  2. Tx, I didn't know that, all I saw was the news about the patch itself. cheers, P.
  3. Any hint about when the main game will be updated to v1.03? I can't upgrade it from v1.02 despite my efforts, have to re-install it from the start... Cheers, Panta
  4. Tx, Budge4, that's precisely what I have been advised to do by the friendly and helpful people (this is not an advertising!) of the e-license department. As soon as the downloadable version is updated to 1.03, I'll do it. I tried everything, like de-activating the antivirus, but it didn't work. Quite odd, actually, since the game itself (1.02)installed smoothly and runs very (very!) well. Tx, Panta
  5. Now I see that I should have waited a little more before downloading it, it would have spared me a lot of trouble getting the patched version (I got 1.02)! Cheers, P.
  6. I downloaded it directly from Battlefront online store. The first time I tried it, from one of the servers, it gave me a "file corrupt" error, the second, from another, the problem reported above. Cheers, P.
  7. I have just downloaded the game, thinking that it would already come v.1.03. It did't, so I downloaded the corrsponding and tried to install it, several times. It didn't work, giving me every time this error: AppName: cmsf_v103_battlefront_patch.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: cmsf_v103_battlefront_patch.exe ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 000030dc Now what do I do? Best rgds. Panta
  8. Pete, Congrats! Your map looks very realistic and full of tactical possibilities. Are you planning to post it somewhere? I would like to give it a try, I am not too fond of flat desert terrain... Or else if you can post it to me: panta@netgate.com.uy I promise to give you some feed back and eventually create some setup (No AI, it takes too long, better play e-mail). Cheers, Panta
  9. Actually I found a picture that may help, but I don't know how to attach it to the forum's message. Cheers, Panta
  10. Fellows, I am sorry to disagree with some of you about Syria's topography. I traveled from Amman, in Jordan, to Damascus by land (by colective taxi, with a couple of bedouins in the back seat) and from Damascus to Palmyra and back in 2000. The Syrian landscape is quite variated, depending of its proximity to the coast, but there are deserts nevertheless. Moreover, it was winter, so it snowed when I arrived in Damascus and I also saw the desert covered by a thin layer of snow along my journey to Palmyra (several hundred klicks). Unfortunately, I was warned not to take photographs from the bus, so I cannot illustrate my words. Actually you can find everything you like, except lush vegetation. Cheers, Panta
  11. As I said in the other thread with the same topic (sorry, there was an internet problem and I ended up repeating it), I didn't buy I yet, but plan to do so soon and I want to know which version is more suitable (if any) for the purpose explained. Tx & cheers, Panta
  12. I didn't purchased it yet, I have been collecting info, and so far, the game plays very well in my systems, excepted for a minor luminosity problem I referred to in another thread, so I am almost decided. But I want to know about my portable disk and what version to purchase (either electronic download, disc, etc). Cheers, Panta
  13. I have the games I play by email (CMBB, CMAK and TacOps) installed on a portable Toshiba 100GB hard disk I use to carry my photo files back and forth to work. It saves me disk room and keeps all the files together. And I can play it either at home or during spare time at work. Is it possible (because of the electronic registration)just to install CMSF in that portable disk but to be able to play in different computers without having to un-install and re-install the game each time? (I have several computers at home and at work, only need one to play but I cannot say in advance in which one). Cheers, Panta
  14. Absolutely not. The screen changes abruptely from one turn to the other (while playing the night scenario in the demo)to a point that I can't see the units at all. I hope that I won't have to buy myself a night scope in terms to play the game!
  15. I employ a 100GB portable disk to take archives from work to home and viceversa. Therefore, I found quite practical to install several games (CMBB, CMAK, TacOps)I use to pbem play at the office in my spare time directly into it. I launch them directly from there and the office's computers remain clean. Is that compatible with the electronic registration? I mean, if I install it first at home, then on my portable disk, will I be able to play it from the latter in different machines without having to uninstall CMSF from my portable disk and re-install it every time? (two installations in total)
  16. Well, actually what I cannot do is to re-calibrate my video card, it is already calibrated for professional Photoshop work. Old CMs allowed a coarse adjustment from the keyboard without touching the hardware.
  17. I am an old CM enthusiast and now I am planning to purchase CMSF. Therefore, I have been playing the demo to find out more. Now I am playing the night scenario provided and found some oddity. The game runs smoothly and pretty stable, but suddenly the screen luminosity changed (lowered) and I cannot see the units anymore  . Old CM games allowed to adjust screen luminosity but I didn't find any similar in SF. I have to say that this happens on an expensive LaCie Photon19Vision monitor calibrated by hardware with a 256MB ATI Radeon X600 graphic card, no question to adjust the screen to the game, of course. Up to now, it's the only inconvenience I faced. Cheers, Panta
  18. Well, the correspondig case wasn't checked, it wasn't either prior to running the program. Cheers, Panta
  19. If you check my posting: CMAFK RUNNING SLUGGISH ON MY DELL you will notice that I am experiencing similar problems, but related to CMAK instead. The odd thing is that CMAK runs very smoothly on a PC clone (Intel processor) with NVIDIA GForce 1,5 Ghz instead, while the Dell is a 2,6 Ghz with Radeon VE. I downloaded the tweaker to no avail, and you might check my last posting to see a few new related problems it created though. Cheers, Panta
  20. A last development in my struggle with the Dell-Radeon combo vs CMBO-CMAK: following some suggestions found in the troubleshooting section I installed the Radeon's tweak program. After a few games I began to perceive an odd behavior, the Alt-G and the Alt-B toggles ceased to work and it also altered my desktop everytime I switched from game to desktop and inversely. As the program didn't help me with the main problem, the slow response on the Dell, I finally unistalled it and everything fell back to the beginning. In my opinion, the combination Dell-Radeon might rather be a headache for gaming purposes; I never could play ANY of the Steel Panthers series, either from SSI, Matrix or SPCammo on it. Cheers, Panta
  21. The odd thing is that I have both machines set at the same screen ressolution. Since my equipements are intended for professional graphic work (I am photojournalist) I employ a 21" monitor with the Dell and a 19" one on the PC, both of professional quality (flat) they are both set at 1280x1024. What really puzzles me is rather the inverse behavior of the games in both computers while the settings remain the same. Cheers, Panta
  22. Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, thus I apologize. But my Dell is the one that has an ATI Radeon VE graphic card. It is there that I am experiencing problems. On my clone 1,6 Mhz PC with NVidia GForce at home, CMAK runs very well. Of course this is after I downloaded driver 56.12 (or so) to correct the infamous Nvidia bug described in the Troubleshooting section. All things considered, I do not feel like starting uncertain DELL-Radeon upgrades, so most probably I will also purchase CMBTB and play it on the DELL, together with CMBO... Tx for your support, mates, and a Happy New Year! (I will be alone on shift the 31st until midnight, in the sole company of CMBO, on my Dell) Cheers, Panta
  23. Prior to buying CMAFK I have been playing CMBO. On my PC 1,5 Mhz, 512 Mb RAM, NVidia GForce 32MB it runs well, but on my Dell 2,6 Mhz, 512MB RAM, Radeon VE, it flies! Now, something curious: CMAFK, albeit looking somehow more demanding, flies on my PC 1,5 Mhz and runs sluggishly on my Dell... I have downloaded the tweaking utility and disabled the Z-Mask on the latter, to no avail. Has CMAFK been tuned for GForce, maybe? Regards, Panta
