  1. And the best thing is that you don't even have to pick a unit nearby.

Just pick any old unit and the FT unit and give the move order... then delete the move order from the other unit.

Oh and my first thought when reading the headline?

"what are you smoking? Patch 3.0 isn't out until mid december!"

The perils of being heavily involved in the forums of multiple games :P

I was thinking of SWTOR hehehe

  2. I wish my enemies 75mm AT guns missed as much as the ones in the movie.

Yeah, that bit was certainly "movie aim" :)

    But did she like it?

I know, I know...it's the thought that counts. I'm just saying, I wish I had a mother who took me to war movies. Now, that's love.

Oh yeah, she loved it :)

And I'm the one who took HER to the movie :)

Btw. she also loves superhero movies so I've seen all the marvel ones with her (either at the cinema or at home on Dvd/blu-ray)

Also an avid fan of Sons of Anarchy and The Walking Dead.

I've also watched Band of Brothers, Rome, Breaking Bad and Deadwood with her :)

  3. I saw the movie (with my 64-year old mom. It was her birthday present) and I liked it.

Sure, there were a few "movie" moments, but overall it was a good movie.

    Surprisingly so actually.

    Definately not a "hollywood warmovie".

And anyone riping about the youtube clip where they fight the tiger needs to watch the movie as it is completely different there.

1: they pop smoke on the tiger and back away.

2: they decide to flank it left and right before the smoke clears.

3: the tiger decides to move forward through the smoke, interrupting their manouver.

4: it damages the turret drive of the "fury" tank.

5: the fury misses due to firing on the move.

6: they decide to circle around it to hit the weakest part (which is understandable if you are to the side of the tank and all impacts would be at an angle, but still not called for)

So yeah, it's not much to complain about in that clip in its full form.

Only the "move behind it" part, but even that could be explained due to simply heat of the moment (and failing to penetrate the tank earlier due to hitting the mantle)

  4. I don't get how anyone could find this difficult.

First thing I did when I (finally) got the pack was set up a small scenario to test the units out (holland, 1944, september).

Put in 1 forward observer on each side, then I picked the "single vehicle" option to pick out all the tanks, then "specialist units" to get the flamethrowers.

Bunkers were right there in the formations.

Only thing I had to "go looking for" was the priest kangaroo, and all I had to do there was switch to canadians.

  5. On the other hand, reality makes a fine movie if you just give it a chance. Think of that 1km shot. Imagine the suspense: the shot has been fired and it may be the only shot you get before the Boch returns fire, which is almost certain to be fatal. So the shot is fired and we wait out the seconds while it is on the way (and the time of flight can be justifiably exaggerated since in situations like this subjective time can move awfully slowly), and then CA-RANG BOOM! A hit! We'll live!

    Michael

Actually, that might not be as exciting as you'd think it would.

At least not to the average movie-goer.

  6. I think some people need to get out of their armchairs a bit and ask themselves if it would be a good movie if they had just shot that Tiger from 1km away or if they had been blown up by the numerous panzerfausts in the end battle.

Would that have made a good movie?

Sometimes reality doesn't make for good movies so you have to thumb on reality a bit for the action in movies.

  7. Lugn nu.

    ´twas just a joke. Hence the: ;)

I don´t want Skåne back - and actually I think there are only a few loonies in this country that seriously want to make an issue out of that.

    Good vibes :)

    I knew, hence the :P

Anyway, we actually have a few loons ourself that go up to the border with småland and halland every year and dig a little bit just to some day separate skåne from the rest of sweden.

    Yeah... loons :/

  8. Welllllll...just for the sake of argument and speaking theoretically...there is a way that that might work...sometimes. And that is, a company might put one item on the market at a price that it knows will lose money, but with the anticipation that doing so will attract enough attention to the company so that other products which it markets will be profitable enough to cover the losses of the first product.

What does this have to do with with BFC? I don't know, probably not the slightest thing. If this was a promising option for BFC I'm sure they would have figured it out all on their own. But this has become a palaver thread (as most do sooner or later) so...

    Michael

Well that only works if you have spare capital.

BFC isn't exactly swimming in money here and they need to pay their employees.

  9. "If you don't think there is enough value in the pack, don't buy it" - you do not need anyone to explain it, it sounds like the words of Marie Antoinette - S'ils n'ont pas de pain, qu'ils mangent de la brioche! - Let them eat cake! This is not an argument in the discussion.

    Actually, it's the entire argument.

You are saying it's too expensive for its content.

    Then don't buy it.

You can't demand that they lower the price just because YOU don't think it's worth it.

If that worked, I'd be able to buy ferraris and porces for the same price as a volvo.

  10. First, absolutely no you are wrong, every previous game, the modules have content appropriate to its price - here you have over 20 vehicles for 20 bucks that you can just "lick and watch"

Second, if you can afford to do everything for him everything is cheap - so the argument that it is cheap because it is cheap, it is ... invalid

thirdly, the product should be compared with other products in this segment - that is, to other digital entertainment (not pizza, tickets to the theater or condoms, etc.) - at that price I can have a new one, or a few old games.

Fourth, the price for me is not a problem, although the dollar in my country is three times greater purchasing power (purchase the packs for 60 bucks?) problem is the content - too small for the price.

One more thing, just not interested in how much work has gone into this content - whether that someone is interested in my country, some people have to work on the $ 20 whole day? - Everyone has their problems, etc., BF does not need my favor, and I do not need special treatment, because I live in a poorer country.

    Well then fine...

Let's compare digital products to digital products.

Here's a pack of 6 ship skins for 1 ship in Elite Dangerous... it's 12.50£

And here's the Elite Dangerous game. it's 40£ and it will include hundreds of ships that you can travel through the entire milky way with over 100 billion star systems, each with their own planets and stations. Each with their own sort of government and tons of resources.

    Now... that's only for 40£

That's a ton more content than what's in a CM game.

So should they start giving the games away for free?

Or should we just realize that a pack with 27 units takes time and effort to make and that time and effort must be paid somehow, and 20 bucks is not alot of money.

And don't talk to me about the value of money.

    Have you ever been starving?

    I have.

Have you ever lived without any income?

    I have.

I know the value of money.

And 20 bucks is not alot of money.

Hell, I could make that much money if I just went out and started begging in the streets.

  11. Ahhh... Xnt point...

(However, we seem to have similar emphasis on pics and videos on all forums. I still recall in the early days when 90% of discussion was about tactics and how to better play the game. I miss all that.)

That's just cause we're all expert tacticians and brilliant military strategists now thanx to our years playing BFC games ;)

  12. Well I guess this thread has been derailed due to anyone who has a horse in this race attempting to change the subject. Maybe this sort of thing makes you uncomfortable.

The fact of the matter is that regardless of any NDA, Steve said himself that this fix is going to take a lot of time and effort. He also used the same phrasing when he explained the $20.00 price for the new vehicle pack. So once again, I am merely questioning their priorities. Yes I know this is coming off as snarky as f___, but I still think a lot of people are thinking the same thing and are either a. not signed onto the forums or b. part of the silent majority lurker type.

    Well then let's talk priorities.

Do you think their priorities are to fix the game or release modules?

Because right now, the CMRT patch isn't the only thing that's late.

We were supposed to have alot of modules and packs released by now, but they have all been delayed because of this annoying bug.

If BFC were really in it for the money, they'd have released a CMRT patch that didn't include the house bug fix and moved on to releasing more modules and packs to make money.

So I'd think twice before starting to insinuate that BFC's priorities are with the allmighty $...

  13. I've bought the pack and I'm also ok with the price.

Still it would have been nice if some small showcase scenarios would have been included. Because now I have the pack but nothing to look at - that is disappointing. A QB vs the AI? Meh. But a few very small scenarios - a Crab + infantry vs. an AT bunker behind a minefield for instance - check. Something like that.

Yes, I could do that myself but hey: I've just bought the thing. Show me the cool stuff I just paid for. Even the thing from ChrisNDs twitch.tv would have been better than nothing.

Well, there's already 4-5 scenarios available for download (for FREE) that make use of the vehicle pack.

    So what's the problem here?

That you don't get to pay extra for some scenarios and get them for free instead?

  14. In the "Gustav Line" for $ 35 we got new formations, new units, new types of weather (spring, autumn, winter), new nations, Poles, united kingdom, Canadians, New Zealanders, dozens of guns and vehicles, campaigns and scenarios, patches for the game etc.

Here we have more than 20 models of vehicles whose use in the game is very limited and costs 20 bucks.

Of course you can write, it's worth the money because it is ......... worth the money - I however compares with other products 'BF' and in relation to them is simply too expensive.

Sure, and in the base game you get a gazillion times more than that at only 20$ more.

You can't compare them like that.

The base games are 55 bucks.

    The modules are 35 bucks.

    The packs are 20 bucks.

    The patches are 10 bucks.

    Sounds perfectly reasonable to me.

20 bucks is not that much money.

Could you get an entire new game for that?

    Sure.

But then you could argue that the base game should only be 20 bucks since you can buy another game for that.

And then the modules would have to be 5 bucks.

And the packs and patches completely free.

And BFC would be bankrupt and we wouldn't have any more games.

20 bucks is what THEY think it is worth for the effort made to make it.

    Don't agree?

    Then don't buy.

But stop trying to convince the world that it's too much money because it really isn't.

20 bucks is not alot of money and 27 units is actually quite alot of units.

Hell, I'm unemployed with no benefits (in other words, I get nothing from the government) and I still think it's worth 20 bucks.

Just sit down and think about how many hours you have to work to earn 20 bucks.

Then contemplate how many hours of fun you could get out of this pack.

You'll notice that 20 bucks isn't much for the amount of fun you can have with the pack.

Unless, of course, there are no units that interest you in the pack, but in that case you don't get to judge how valuable the pack is since it has no value to you in the first place.

  15. Since I simply cannot download it from the download link I got.

Keep getting "network failure" type messages before it's downloaded and it downloads at horrendously slow speeds.

Tried 7 times now (+1 time with IE, yes I got that desparate).

So if anyone could put up an external private upload and PM me the link I'd be eternally grateful.

I've payed 20$ for something that I can't even play right now, so it's kinda frustrating.

  16. This is only about 20 models of vehicles for which there is no scenario or campaign, and are only suitable for playing PBM - a pizza that you can not eat - but you can lick and watch it.

    Nice hyperbole there.

    But no.

I count 27 new units (because, yes, things that aren't vehicles count too).

And there are already scenarios being updated to use the new pack (so far I've counted 4 I think, but more are surely coming) and those cost you nothing at all.

So no, this is not "a pizza you can not eat, but only lick and watch".

We get it, you don't think it's worth the money.

    And that's fine.

You are allowed to think that.

What you aren't allowed to do is to imply that the price isn't fair or that we are somehow wrong in thinking it's a fair price.

    Because, guess what?

We think it's worth the money.

And you can't tell us it isn't.

  17. BFC should use the Rockefeller Principle: 'Give away the lamp and sell the oil'. In other words: give away the core game and sell unit/forces/wathever packages.

Funny enough, maps are already 95% compatible within the CMx2 game family, you only need to change a single hex in the scenario file. Just the TO&E get mixed up completly, and a few ground tiles and such causing trouble.

The problem with that approach is that suddenly scenario makers have to pick and choose from all the packs and if you don't happen to have the "sherman firefly" pack (or whatever pack) then you can't play alot of the scenarios.

Keeping the modules down to a minimum removes that problem.

  18. I wouldent go that far. Im definately opposed to the Sweden democrats, some of them are racists but to say all their voters are open racist is to much (if you ask me).

Whats more scary is that a full fifth of the Swedish populus has voted for extermist, Sweden demorcats (extreme right), the left (former communists, extreme left) and feminist initiativ (might sound good, but they are also extreme left).

And to bring us back to topic, I think I'll hold of on installing the VH pack until, Panzers stay Panzers (btw, is this something that happens to everyone?).

As someone who voted left, and who knows active politicians in that party, I can unequivocally state that they are in no way "extreme".

The extreme left are the syndicalists and autonoms, not the left party.

Yeah they ussed to be communists... some time in the 60's and 70's.

They haven't been communists in many many years, but the name change took a while (still, it's now 25 years since that happened).

And the feminist initiativ are all over the place. They are part left, part right, part green but the main thing is the feminist thing.

But yeah, living here I can tell you that most of the people who voted for SD are openly racist nowadays.

It's suddenly become socially acceptable to have very racist or prejudice views in public.

And it's making me sick to the stomache.
