  1. The one I'm missing is the CMRT version of the Final sound mod.

Right now, I can only find two version of "the final sound mod" on greenasjade (admittedly, I'm finding it hard to navigate that site), and neither is for CMRT as both explicitly state in the description that there's a separate CMRT version.

EDIT: Sorry, missed the entire thread above (only thought there was one answer, silly me).

I have NONE of my old mods. I'd appreciate anyone who could upload them.

I've downloaded the "final" one on greenasjade, but that's all I have.

  2. Nevermind, all has been fixed through support :)

Now I just have to figure out why I can't download the v4 patches that I bought... just says "shipent status: pending" on them with no download link 😕

(Why, oh why, does it have to be so complicated?)

EDIT: Nevermind, it was in the junkmail :P

You should just be able to download. I don’t keep physical copy anymore.  Go to your account and you should be able to retrieve.

That's the thing... I didn't buy CMRT for myself the first time. A friendly forumite did.

After that, when I ran into some cash, I paid that forward by buying it for my friend.

However, there is no such purchase on my record at the battlefront.com store, so I think he might have just gotten the money from me to buy it.

Download them. They'll all be patched up to current standards and all you'll have to do is activate with the keys, unless you didn't buy some of the upgrades.

You are the second guy to come out of the woodwork this week. Now womble and Blimey need to show up.

Yeah, the only updates I had was v3 for CMBN. Don't think I got any updates for CMFI or CMRT.

I just bought the big update pack, though, so that's got me covered.

Also, don't expect any mods from me. I'm out of that business :P

I thought it worked the other way around... people who only like modern but not WWII were the blasphemers ;)

  5. Just got an e-mail from support.

They gave me the license keys to all the CMX1 games and the copy of CMRT that I must have squirreled away somewhere (in the process of moving).

Ironically the games that I DO have easy-to-access hard copies of, are all in my order page for easy download :P

So, the CMX1 games I can now download and install.
The CMBN and CMFI games I can either manually install or download and install.
CMRT I'll have to go look for.

I didn't get the CMSF 1 key, but that's ok, because I didn't like that much anyway.

  6. Actually considering buying all of them again here.

Most of what I've bought were physical hardcopies, but now I can't find most of them after several moves.

The games I do have are CMBN and CMFI. And I've got updates to v3 on both, I think.
The rest are nowhere to be found on the "my orders" page, so I'll be looking at buying them all again.
I'll have to buy upgrades for CMBN and CMFI anyway.

So the question is... do I have to buy the upgrades as well or are they included if I buy a new copy of the game?

  7. I don't have CM:BS since I, A: Don't have the money and B: Am not really interested in modern day settings.

However, should anyone feel like making a soundmod, feel free to use my soundmods as material if you like any of the sounds.
Personally, I'd say that modern weapons have a slightly different sound than most of the WW2 weapons, but that's up to each to decide.

Anyway, feel free to use any of it and publish it.

Just remember to cite where you got the sounds in a ReadMe file (not because I want the credit, but because the sounds in my sound mod are not created by me and crediting my soundmod will in a way credit those who I credit in my soundmod... if that makes any sense)

  8. That's true, but it's a lot easier to get one big sound mod, then pick and choose what you want out of it than to hunt down 6 or 7 different mods and cobble them together.

    Also true.

And that's why I release my mods. Not because it's something I've created myself, but because others might not have access to the same size library of sounds as I do.

  9. Think the round was developed, but probably not carried by the 76mm Sherman crews.

They normally carried AP and HE, sometimes the HVAP if they could get their hands on it as it was not in theatre in large quantities.

I'm not sure if US tankers have a 'standard load', but selected ammo load out more on a mission specific basis.

As regards the film, I was musing on those packed ranks of germans on the road and what effect a couple of canister rounds would have had :)

Been looking and I can't find any reference to a canister round for the 76mm sherman.

Note to sound modders...Oddball, Waclaw and AKD and anyone I missed...I hope you are thinking of lifting sounds from this movie.  There's a particularly good, close-up rrrrriiiiippppp-ing MG 42 in the crossroads battle, hint, hint. And did I mention those awesome AP ricochets?

Sad to say, but I've given up on soundmodding for the forseable future.

I agree with the rest of your post though.

Alot of people around here seem to get bogged down on the details and not able to enjoy a good movie.

  11. Hmmm. Not sure where I said it wasn't cliched enough. I'm going to take a punt (and I could be wrong) that you're referring to me saying that their lack of comeraderie was the cliche I was missing. No, I'm not citing that as a missing-but-necessary cliche. I'm saying that I found their lack of comeraderie difficult to believe. That's slightly different. I just thought that that their relationship as a crew wasn't believable. I assume you thought it was. OK, if you buy it then no wonder you enjoyed it. I didn't (on either count).

Did you really think the final battle was "enjoyable"? OK...

Incidentally, I preferred all the movies you cite above. And I'll add A Bridge Too Far (1977) as long as we're only talking about the dialogue among the senior staff. Wasn't so keen on the action.

I'd also add A Walk in the Sun (1945), All Quiet on the Western Front (1930), Ivan's Childhood (1962), Come and See (1985) and Downfall (2004). Although with Downfall I'd add the caveat that they did rather gloss over certain elements of the battle for Berlin (for, perhaps, understandable reasons).

Thinking aloud, Attack (1956) is also very good (and shows you don't need authentic Tigers to make a good movie - they really are rubbish) and The Cruel Sea (1953) is, of course, one of the best war movies ever. Stalag 17 (1953) and The Colditz Story (1955) are also great but I'm not sure I count POW movies.

Actually this could go on and on... I'm thinking of all those Brit war movies of the '50s now. And the '40s, come to think of it... God, there's a lot of them and a shed load of them are great. But if I go on, this'll just be a film list... ;)

Did I mention The Halls of Montezuma (1950)? [Oh, just stop it - Ed]

And those movies aren't riddled with clichés and factual errors????  :o

  12. IIRC 'Das Boot' had the rivets wrong but was correct apart from that. I guess 'Downfall' is also as right as you can get with the known facts.

Just two films I can think of not a complete list. :)

Oh trust me, with the degree of pickiness that people are using to rip this movie apart, they'd find flaws in even Das Boot.

Things like in the ending scene where planes fly straight overhead and yet manages to strafe the ground beneath them at the same time...

The difference is that this movie was made by Brad Pitt and is a Hollywood movie with a few hollywood clichés.

But it doesn't deserve the hatred it's getting in this thread.

Stalingrad is my favourite war movie (or rather anti-war movie) and it's considered a very good war movie by most, but even that is riddled with flaws and clichés.

  13. I've only watched this movie for the first couple of minutes. After seeing Pitt jump off from a tank on a German officier on horseback and stabbing his eyes out, I decided it's a waste of time. Disgusting. Same rubbish as Inglorious Bastards and an insult to those who fought and suffered. I really don't understand why Hollywood continues to make such movies full of hate and nonsense. With such a budget they could have made a much better movie, but it is all about sensation and making money nowadays, isn't it? Who is interested in historical accuracy or justice?

Talking of which. The confirmation of the shooting of German prisoners is interesting, though not at all surprising. For those of you who speak German, watch the documentary "Uber Galgen wächst kein Gras"on You Tube on the Malmedy-proces. You only have to look at the faces of the American guards, when interrogated, to know enough.

I'm sure nobody ever stabbed anyone else in the eye during the entire war, and they all acted like perfect gentlemen....

The point of the movie is not to glorify war, but to show how brutal and dehumanising it was, and how it turns seemingly good men into monsters at times.
