  1. Guess I was the shy, lurker type back when I joined in 1999. However, I did post in the general discussion forum back in 2008. Anyway, looking forward to the new game. I'm interested to see if the company that got me into wargaming, can bring me back to wargaming with CMBN.
  2. I watched it and enjoyed it for the most part. However, to me it seem disjointed at times. There were several instances where the scene would cut and I'd be expecting more. Too many to list really. To answer your questions: 1. Overall, yes 2. Lt Fick - cared for his men, seemed genuinely interested in helping the Iraqi people. 3. Not really a moment, but how it showed the different personalities within each unit.
  3. Is this product going to be available via download? Will there be a physical disk? How does it interact with CMBB? I don't know if I can find my CMBB disk these days. It's been a loooonnggg time.
  4. As we all know, it is quite possible to have a tactical victory with a strategic loss and vice versa. I would hope for victory conditions such as your example. However, I expect it will be the calculations such as KIA, vehicles lost, flag held. IIRC, this is how victory is determined in the stand alone CM games. I have to admit I haven't played a CM game in a long while for various reasons. I have forgotten a lot. The good news, besides saving money on my car insurance, is I'm back!
  5. Auto resolve will be a key feature in the game. My concern is my experiences in games such as RTW. In RTW in the campaign, the auto-resolve would cause 10x the casualties and typically the life of the commanding general. The same battle played out would be a one-sided victory for the player. I'm guessing the results of either auto resolve or playing it out should be somewhere in the middle. If anyone knows, is auto resolve anything more than crunching the total attack values versus the total defense values without regard to other modifyers such as terrain, morale, etc?
  6. I envision more "skirmishes" as opposed to all out battles. However, at some point there will be the enevitable clash where two large forces meet. For some players this aspect may be boring and tedious. For myself, the anticipation of when and where the next huge battle erupts will be worth the wait.
  7. Exactly my thoughts. I have only played TCP/IP games the last few years and would have a hard going back to playing battles PBEM. However, in the grand scheme, the "Generals" should have the time to observe the situation and calculate future moves.
  8. Same as always... "when it's ready!" </font>
  9. Sadly, this is the first game I have been truly excited about since the original CMBO was released. The CM series IMHO is unmatched in both the quality of product AND customer support. I look forward with great anticipation to the release.
  10. My 2 cents-the lack of a "follow the leader" command is a major drawback. Therefore I mainly play infantry only. It bothers me that I am missing out on the many cool aspects of motorized combat in CM. I just don't care to micro-manage quite that much. Not only that I have trouble, but the AI is terrible at manuevering its vehicles.
  11. Excellent idea, they could focus on Germany's offnesive in CM2, then Russia's counter offensive into Germany for CM3. Trying to handle the entire eastern front in one game might be a bit much.
  12. "The object of war is not to die for your country. It is to make some other poor, dumb bastard die for his."
  13. Many thanks Trooper. I have always wonder that ever since I saw Battle of the Bulge!
  14. Sgt. Steiner, are you or any other German speakers able to translate the words of Panzerlied? Thanks
  15. Chalk up one vote for being able to play USA vs Russia in CM2!
  16. Gustov, where about in Colorado? I'm in Boulder.
  17. Thanks for the replies, I have upgraded to 1.05 and will be getting 1.1 today!
  18. So if I download both can I can play either a 1.05 or 1.1 game? Or does 1.1 overwrite 1.05?
  19. I still have 1.03. Should I update to 1.05 or skip that and go directly to the beta? I'm thinking about getting 1.05 and waiting to the 1.1 final release but would like any recommendations from those who have the beta.
  20. I also hope that we will find partisan units in CM2. After reading up on barbarossa and the impact partisans had I feel not having them would be a mistake.
  21. In the book Forgotten Solier the author talks about the ruthlessness of the Russian Partisans. Does anyone remember was it the first of second episode that showed the footage of partisans hanging that women? Will there be partisans in CM2?
