  1. I choose Mr Doug Beman. I have no particular axe to grind with him, but he is first on the list alphabetically, and thats the kind of cold stoic heartless bastard I try to convince people I am when I am feeling insecure about my character and competance as a human being. Its supposed to be ironic or something. My method of execution for Mr Beman is to be locked in an airtight steel tank, with a computer. This computer will have loaded on it Windows XP, minus any win-games, and Sudden Strike. Through a mechanism implemented by one of my minions, the only way he keeps getting air is by continuing to whack away at the keys and actually play Sudden Strike. To prolong his own survival he will be forced to dignify that afterbirth of a videogame with his own grognardly engagement with it. If he tries to be heroic and simply back away from the pc and take his fate, I will have my minion play German Oompa bands at him until the moment he finally expires. I have decided that I will use a mongbat for my minion. I decided long ago that it would not be a human, as I wouldnt want to drag another person into this sordid mess, and my first brainstorm, a trained monkey, doesnt seem practical, as I have my doubts about their ability to keep watch over Beman, rather than looking for a piece of fruit to hump. Yes, a mongbat, like from the Wizard of Oz will do nicely.
  2. Actor, Thank you very much for your hospitality! If someone who was there knows, I think we ought to get a "guestbook" going in this thread to mention all who were present. I will try to answer specific questions if anyone has them, but to summarize, this game will definitely be worth the wait, and will stand as the definitive tactical combat sim. Graphics were very immersive, I have not seen any comments from other sneak peeks that exaggerated the claims of CMBB. After seeing up close and personal, the features added to CMBB will take our play to a much higher level, with new complexities and subtleties to our tactics. This is not going to be reducable to a "numbers" game. Thanks again Actor, and it was nice to meet all of you in person!
  3. Actor, Check your email, I want directions to your house.. I might be able to come up. Thumpre, did you say you are or arent coming this time?
  4. What about software stores in Andorra, and Vatican City? Will they have CDV versions, or will The Andorrans and Catholics be able to order online like free men?
  5. No kidding. I STILL look at Chance Encounter, and Last Defense as 2 of my favorite scenarios of all time. I just love the two maps! I don't know how to describe what they have, but the scenario design, and flow of the battle are just absolutely superb! Perhaps CMBB will have Flagship Scenarios that do for CMBB what LD,CE, and Valley of Trouble did for CMBO??? Rune made some variants of CE and LD too btw, very cool stuff...
  6. You are quite right specs. I would pay highly for that as well. BTS could even sell this stuff in their "library" section if they wanted to keep it separate from the game. Thanks for the link too! I should be finished downloading all this stuff by, well lets see... about the Time CM4- The Early War comes out
  7. Juju, If you go looking for Villers-Bocage, where Wittman met his end, you will be disappointed. It is one of the few villages around that seems to be "modernized". I only did a single day of driving outside of Paris, so I hit the obvious. Went to Normandy/ Omaha Beach and memorial. BUT, I am told there is an excelelnt Museum in Bayeux, and also in Caen.. But sadly I didnt have time to stop...

Just to play devil's advocate, does anyone have penetration data on the Kar98 or MP44 on a Steve McQueen, wearing Rifle 45 fatigues at 20 meters? I belive the angle was about 24% striking the upper rear torso.
  9. I dont know if you all noticed this, but when Steve McQueen was running back, after tossing the satchel charge for the first time, he got shot in the left shoulder blade.. As he rolled over, he was holding his solar plexus, and blood was spurting out. The only way that shot could have traveled at that angle is from the luftwaffe strafing him. I heard no luftwaffe! Please fix or do somefink!
  10. Welcome back, Mr Kotter!! We missed you ever so.... The CM community has been much less modded in your absence.. All the mod-sluts are pent up with mod-withdrawl frustrations..
  11. Karch, I think the point is that it will TOTALLY change the dynamic of your battle. Imagine playing a "quick" battle, that was pre-arranged, as a 5 game battle over the same map. (assuming 1 side wasnt totally wiped out) Now also you and your opponent have agreed that the only score which counts, is the score at the end of the FIFTH battle. No more turn 29 flag rushes! Live to fight another days, as your real life counterparts might have done. I played in a Band of Brothers campaign called Winter War. I can't express how much more interesting it is to have factors influencing your tactics beyond the final turn of the current board. You start to get attached to your troops, and you get much more personally invested in the outcome, and fate of your men. Its the only way to play, and I can't wait to see this implemented. It is taking great effort not to get all giddy and anxious for the ship date... I want to know when y'all settle who is finally marrying Madmatt, because fyi I am his love-child, and I need some new Nike's...
  12. If I were you, I would email Napoleon1944, who was the creator of the ettysburg adventure... Go back to the scenario source to find his email
  13. Its always been a dilemna.. I despise the way they make the map look like a board game, but I love the way they help you discern the terrain at lvl 3 or 4 view. Do any of you have ideas on this matter? I am almost to the point of installing CMMOS, and thats huge for someone as lazy as I am...
  14. OMG! I remember playing this game as a kid!! Deadmarsh, do you have any screenshots of the excellent Intellevision game "B17 Bomber?"
  15. This is a tribute...To The Best Post in the World...The Best Post in the World.... It was made by Sir Bruno Weiss on page 1. Lindan, if youre reading this, please add this thread to the archives. I'm practically crying over here.. Oh man...
  16. So as an aside, Are we going to throw a sequel party to commemorate The Night of the Resfresh Monkeys? Because I do plan on doing mine, and many other people's share of refreshing on that fateful night. Sure, Madmatt will ban me for coming out and encouraging it like this, but its a small price to pay.
  17. Lawyer, You are an idiot. Those are terrible suggestions.
  18. My vote goes to "Burning Inside" by Ministry. The song with enough votes will be in the game. Guaranteed.* * May or may not be factual
  19. LOL, Olle. That is cheating!!!!
  20. I will be there. Although I would love to manipulate all of you into coming back down to San Diego like last time, I guess I need to be fair. Sounds fun! Where's MarkIV dagnabit?
  21. Yeah, I will buy a few drinks. Lets see we need to get MarkIV there.. who else is around?
  22. [AllInGoodfun]Patgod, Don't take this the wrong way, but you are OFFICIALLY the cheapest bastard I have ever crossed paths with. Here youve been taking advantage of this wonderful forum, viewing pictures of mods, and lurking the mutha beautiful thread to your heart's content, without ever contributing a dime to the war effort? How long does it take you to pick out breakfast cereal man? [/AllInGoodFun]
