I've been a wargamer 29 years (hit 30 years in 2001).
Started off with miniatures, but took up boardgaming a few years afterwards.
Who can remember setting up the monster games (eg Drang Nach Osten), playing 2 turns, then putting it away cause it took too long!

I had CC, but I couldn't get into it, and have hence avoided the additional releases.
IMHO, CMBO is a lot more immersive, and a lot more enjoyable (perhaps because I began my grognard life as a miniatures gamer, and CMBO would have to be the closest thing to miniatures on the PC)!

Using my surname as inspiration (ie Knight), I just picked a suitable weapon for a nickname (broadsword and claymore too long)!

excuse the belated reply, but I hadn't read this post until now!
the reason Australia does well considering it's relatively small population is that the coaches tell the Aussies that's there's free beer at the finished line, but only enough for the first three across the line!
That's enough to get any Aussie running hard!

Sorry, as a contributor to the Forward Observer, I'm probably not allowed to voice my opinion (PDF).

I'd agree, the introduction of a rarity cost in the price will reduce the likelyhood of exotic equipment appearing as frequently as they do on the CMBO battlefield.
Also, the implimentation of a Base Cost is also a good idea to reduce costing anomilies.

Yes,
I'm afflicted by modeller's syndrome!
Kits are relatively expensive now days, and more focussed to the adult market. On top of that there's the cost of consumables (ie paint, brushes, references).
You have two choices basically as far as scale is concerned 1/72, or 1/35 (I prefer the latter, 1/72 is 'toy scale' IMHO).
The main Manufacturers are Tamiya, Dragon, AFV Club, Italeri and Academy (for 1/35). There are also a lot of Eastern European manufacturers appearing.
To cut your teeth, start with a simple tank like a Jagdpanther!
One warning though, I never get time to model, I'm too busy playing CMBO!
