  1. But it's a fair point. Some advancement in ammo management wouldn't be bad. Ways to pass ammo over, possibly also a forward ammo depot type thing.
  2. Well this is great news indeed. Aside from all the simulation advantages I expect this will help immersion along. With this greater ability to establish defensive positions the maps will help give a bit of ownership to a battle. Less fighting the designer and more the bastard that had the gall to put a trench right where you as an attacker didn't want one to be.
  3. And the OICW corpse just keeps walking. I'd just develop the 40mm options further. Me like 'splosions, big 'splosions!
  4. Politically, no. Quite the opposite. Since the 1st Gulf War it's been policy to keep Israel out of any fight in the area. Israel siding with you in a ME conflict is like the kiss of death towards local cooperation. Unlike the Dutch, who've been dragged in to most of the fights the US has been involved in recenrtly. And as been mentioned many times before, share gear with the Teutons and the Canucks.
  5. If it wasn't you, somebody else would've done the same. However, I'm mildly baffled by this IDF hatred. Not high on my list of groups I respect, either. But my goodness, must such a big deal be made?! In a few months time I'll be operating SS Tiger tanks and nobody will think anything of it.
  6. Which brings to mind another reason why including the IDF is bad, m'kay?
  7. You can believe what you will. Nonetheless, the game adjust the drawing distance of a number of things, not just trees, to adjust the workload if it starts getting a bit too much. It may of course be that this isn't functioning quite as it should, or your PC is having to work real hard and the far off trees are merely the straw that broke the camel's back.
  8. The trees are drawn dynamically, with an eye to performance. If CMSF has trouble keeping the framerate up *poof* far off trees disappear. Having all options at max is the problem, not the solution.
  9. I definitely recommend buying the Brits. The scenarios are much better then CMSFs original one and the Brit vehicles are a hoot. The AI in this is more competent as scen designers gotten better at instructing it. Still... it's AI. I wouldn't expect much from any AI in any game, really. Also, infantry tacAI has been better, though you get that with the patches too. QBs. Still not in great shape. The new maps look better and play better but the dud ones don't seem to have been entirely removed, nor has the balancing problems been addressed. I've not used QBs in a while, and why would you with a great many user made scenarios?
  10. I'm surprised these people are capable of functioning in society.
  11. You didn't count people as dead space. As you rightly confirm, when hit by anything auto-cannon-ish BMP occupants turn in to dead space real quick. Point being, about half the bits you can hit from the side aren't things that's going to make the BMP stop running. Make it a little house of horror, yeah.
  12. You truly thought this a good place to plug Histwar? BFC aren't big on commercial links at the best of times.
  13. But you will not want to arm yourself for the enemy you are likely to encounter, you'll arm yourself for the enemy you fear you'll encounter. Which would be lots of armour. Not having enough AP is infinitely worse then not enough HE. Because if there's still armour while there's no more AP, you are well and truly stuffed. Running short of HE just slows you down as you are relying on the MG more. Ofcourse, CMSF falls a little short of modelling the effects of AP. When fired at a building AP is near as lethal as HE for the occupants of that house, with all the debris flying about. This does not appear to be simulated at all, just a large bullet flying past, no more. Which takes some of the fun out of shooting up a house with AP.
  14. Will they get automated turret controls? I was amazed to find out Warriors were hand cracking the things. It's not THAT old. About the gun, I hope it's a chain cannon? That bizarre Rarden system seems a liability.
  15. Exactly. I came here specifically to find out what it was I'm supposed to ignore.
  16. And this is why I think not too great a faith should be stored in UAVs. This was always going to happen. Against a hi-tech opponent you'd be lucky to be in control of your own vehicles!
  17. I'm told by Bill O'Reilly that New Zealand is exaggerating the shaking.
  18. Not much of a fix for me. I'd lose track of who dropped/fired what ere too long and I'd be no wiser as to what i'd have left. I'm sure it's not as simple as I think it is but come on... tooltips?
  19. Reading the comments made me sad for the future of humanity. ****wads are taking over the world!
  20. I'm pretty eager to defend CMSF on most issues, but this one has me putting me hands up too. We're well in to the third year since release, and still no tool tips for this? Quite a lot of things would benefit from tooltips, but this one in particular should have had tooltips added. Even a knowledgeable veteran player can't make sense out of aircraft ordnance.
  21. Did they ever fix the dynamic campaigns? I liked that the most but in the longer games it'd get loopy. In a monster divisional NA campaign I received Mk VI light tanks instead of the Shermans I was expecting. Ouch! Admittedly, I'm not sure I would dig out my CDs even if they have fixed the campaigns. Even with me getting my campaigning fix, the game is probably too dated now. I tired of Steel Panthers too, eventually.
  22. He does. According to the that chart quite often, whether he wants to or not.
  23. Congreve farted about with some. But probably some Chinese did it first.
  24. Eh? Last time I checked, there is no 7.62x54mmR ammo in game that would allow you to do so.
