  1. And in the Holy Fudge category of combat footage, we have a new king: POV guy shows great personal courage, head is on a swivel. Top notch NCO-ing going on.
  2. In that era of 10 Pence War comics you also has German generals writing themselves glowing reviews in their memoirs and history books. If anything, peeling the paint off the mythical German über army and exposing its deep flaws is only gaining traction relatively recently.
  3. Someone REALLY didn't want to be filmed by that guy.
  4. Yeah, the wide mix of topics in the leak makes one think Pentagon, Langley or White House intern or something. Massachusetts ANG? Are you kidding me?! There's stuff in there that Air Force Chief of Staff doesn't need to see. What the actual fudge?
  5. Former Dutch commander of the army has taken a look and came to pretty much the same conclusion. For your DeepL-ing pleasure: https://nos.nl/artikel/2471146-zijn-westerse-speciale-eenheden-in-oekraine-staan-rare-dingen-in-gelekt-document I'm still thinking it is a PsyOp. Still not entirely sure whose, though. Could be Russian, (pro)Ukrainian or 4chan.
  6. If I had to guess, it's because that thing looks as heavy as a 120mm mortar, if not heavier. And more complex. And I reckon throwing a handful of 82mm at a position is near enough the same effect of a single a 120mm as not to matter.
  7. NEEEEEEERRRRRRRDDDDDSSS!!!!! I Mean... I don't know what you guys are referencing and I definitely do not have a DVD box set of whatever it might be. In other news, I definitely wouldn't be surprised by the Ukr counter attacks in the other sectors. Seen an uptick of videos of RU trenches getting overrun. Which would be a nice background to start of the offensive. Slowly rolling the Russians out of their forward positions, testing the strength of the response. And when time comes, the Russians command will hopefully be suitably lulled into complacency. They won't know it's the real push before the second line gets a hammering. One cann only hope! Zaporizhzhia certainly not as densely held as I was assuming it would be, if the numbers given above are even halfway accurate. How can anyone look at a map and think "yeah, we'll lightly man this area"?
  8. It's been correctly identified, but after that, incorrectly identified, so I'll add my 2 cents. But I'd be shocked if it wasn't a YPR-765 PRCO C (or possibly PRI.50, no idea what we had left) the command version of YPR with just a .50 cal. Sadly we don't have the 25mm version, typically YPR-765 PRI, to give any longer. Sold those to Egypt and Jordan. Easiest ways to ID it is to look for the slanted roof corners on the back and the turret that is slightly to the right of the vehicle.
  9. Big oof on the tank firing the main gun over his own infantry. They cannot have enjoyed that.
  10. What I imagine goes on when a Zoopark is about to get smacked by artillery: Hey, BigDuke6, don't be a stranger, should you happen to be lurking around here.
  11. I know we are are just dunking on the Russians, but sadly, the "T-34 when?" won't happen. The Russians had to buy their T-34/85s from Laos to fill out their parades. But my goodness, we are coming closer to it quicker then I think anyone dared hope for. Within the replies to Oryx's spotting of grandad's old tank there's also an excellent photoshop of a BT-5 with ERA plates. One more genius meme in a long line. I feel a little ashamed towards our Ukrainian boardmembers to admit it, but I am kinda enjoying this war. In my defence, it's smart marketing by Ukraine, not merely my misery soaked war-nerd soul, that makes me feel this way. Almost from day 1, they went full into the memes as a deliberate strategy. And it worked. Because I care about the outcome of this war. Azerbaijan versus Armenia? Pff, as long as it doesn't interfere with my F1 enjoyment, I struggle to care. But you Ukrainians, you are too damn likeable and funny to be allowed to lose against the Russians. And not that all is careful propaganda. From the brutal sunflower seed lady low key laying in to the Russian soldier to the good natured driver offering a broken down tank a tow back to Russia.... you guys are all right.
  12. Okay, I am seriously beginning to wonder how many YPRs we Dutch had left to give. I had it in my mind that we sent over some 40 of them. But they keep showing up just about everywhere. Either we had more of the things that I thought or they are multiplying like Tribbles. Good to see the Ukrainians get good use out of the old beasties. I sometimes wince when I see what risks they are taking with them, but they seem to be doing alright, all things considered. The Ukrainians should get on the phone with the Turks and Egyptians and see if they can get some more. The ones with cannons, if they can manage it.
  13. The Beeb has an article on it too, for us cheap feckers. https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-64955247 But yes, this fits with what little I know about German procurement. It's a complete shambles.
  14. I am surprised we haven't seen some sort of camera/scope with a tablet or phone type display attached. Heck, you could get something pretty useful by duck taping a small drain camera to a rifle.
  15. The shocking aspect of the video of the two Russians caught out in the open is that they do so little to help themselves. No attempt at fighting or running away and a very inept effort to surrender given where he has his rifle. The survivor owes his life to the drone operator taking pity and signalling to the infantry. And not the first time we have seen this complete lack of a meaningful response to the situation they are in. I am generally not at home to pity for Russian soldiers but seeing such stuff comes awfully close.
  16. Same as forehead, but with more brains behind it. It is gamer lingo. Of course, if we take this punning to it's logical conclusion,we may infer the existence of the threehead. And I think I have found proof of it. Behold: What did those poor MTLBs ever do to deserve that treatment? It's just such a bad idea on many levels, I just cannot fathom what they were thinking. Except that someone either made a quick buck with this **** or the Russians don't have the number of BMP 2s and 3s that they'd like to have.
  17. It does seem like someone else is firing in to his fight. Too big an effect for the co-ax. My bet would be AGL, as they already have a track record of firing by drone correction. If it's 30mm auto-cannon, I'd expect tracers. Someone on the Ukrainian side really seems to have had a fivehead moment Because I'll be damned if this were just an accidental engagement. Those tankers knew exactly what they were doing. We've had more exciting footage recently, but this tickles my CM player brain more as this is the player's birds eye view advantage made real.
  18. Ukr T-72 comes over to say "Hello" to the neighbours. Very nicely done. I get the distinct impression the drone informed the TC as to what he was about to find. He breaches the treeline, turns towards the clump of infantry (Bad infantry is bad) presses the delete button and backs off again, not outstaying his welcome. Also, no tank mines that could have prevented this? Tsk! And presumably the tankers knew this, which is even worse.
  19. I am very much enjoying Prigozhin whining about ammo shortages. Last few months he was dunking on the Russian armed forces harder than most people in this thread. But the Prig forgot that the people in this thread aren't drawing their ammunition directly from Russian army stocks. Whoops!
  20. Is it me or did the pistol grip come off his fancy yellow AK? At around 4:01, it doesn't appear to be there any more even though moments before he was firing it and the pistol grip could be seen right in front of the camera.
  21. Watching the recent footage like the ghoul I am, I am deffo seeing an up-tick in good vehicles. T-80BM's, BMP-3s. Famously the Terminators a while ago, too. And more frequently bigger groups of them then typical. So I would concur, from my very limit view, the attack is already underway to a degree. Presumably in the hopes of turning the Ukrainians out of their main lines before the B team shows up to push the "lesser" defensive lines further back. As for the much vaunted 150k+ Russian troops about to wade into battle: additional troops do not an additional army make. What craptastic artillery, tanks, APCs etc will they be issued with? If the Russians can magic actual complete fighting formations together, that's great but whose artillery ammo will they be firing? From all the whining about lack of artillery support from the Russians currently in the line, they might be disinclined to share what they have. I predict a very small period where these reserves might make an impact, before they fizzle out. I cannot imagine them having the staying power for a prolonged offensive. I'd be amazed if they had the logistics and cadre for anything more then a week or two. I am a bit baffled about the expected timing of the big Russian push. We all saw what happened last year. Putin is almost certainly insisting on a result at the earliest opportunity. But by doing so he's reducing the chances of a result he might like.
  22. Maybe the shot at the start is recent. But I think the rest of the drone footage is from the summer judging by the state of the fields and trees.
  23. KMW must truly HATE Scholz. His intransigence in even allowing others to export their tanks to Ukraine must be killing their business. Who wants to be dealing with the German arms industry after this debacle? The Poles going for buying from S.Korea in bulk is looking smarter every day. And I already thought it was a pretty good deal for the Poles to begin with.
  24. Reading Murz's piece and coming across his bit describing the Russians as a cargo cult made my day. If you'll excuse me, I will be doing Sarah Chalke's "Told you so" dance from Scrubs. His whole piece just confirms it. They are too often doing what they are doing for the sake of doing it. Shelling the Ukrainians because that is what you do in a war, without understanding fully what you are really meant to be doing with it. A bit of a problem if you are running out of shells and tubes. Full frontal infantry attacks, because they are supposed to be winning and winners can attack directly to the front and we need the headlines about us winning. If it was good enough for Zhukov, it's good enough for us now.
  25. Yeah. That half arsed, bare minimum approach is very notable. Meanwhile, I cannot count how many times I've seen footage of Ukrainian dug-outs that are neat and tidy, have a stove, oven and, occasionally, a sauna. And all of it looking rather nice, as if straight out of a home improvement advertisement. One of these sides will get through winter better then the other. Uhm... courts are supposed to act neutral. It's kinda the point of them existing. And they were not at all so shy at pointing the finger as you claim. They were very clear about exactly where the BUK came from, who did the logistics and in fact went out of their way to point that the DPR was under Russian control. Not really sure what more you want from a criminal trial, but I like the thorough and dignified way they went about things.
