  1. That may be but it is one of those pie in the sky statements. It is the same as how every man in an infantry squad is supposed to be able to fire the Javelin. Yes they can do it but the only the guys who practice at it a lot will be really good at it.

As a squad leader I recieved training in calling for fire from various systems including air but I didn't get enough practice and advanced training at it to be as good as a true JTAC.

  2. 1 round or even a couple hitting the sight won't put it out of action. If needed the gunner can quickly close the doghouse and start using the GAS sight which is burried farther inside the armor.

One thing to consider is that it is a really small target. While it may not be much trouble to hit on a range, if someone is shooting at you or has the potential to send a very large, high explosive round your way, the shot becomes a little harder. In most cases it is much more useful to try to cause casualties by shooting at soldiers rather than at a piece of equipment that can be easily replaced.

  3. The T55 in question might be hull down to the M1's and presenting a small target while the M1 is visible in all its glory. I can tell you from experience that there is a big difference between knowing there is a target "over there" and actually identifying it so you can shoot at it. This is especially true if one is moving and the other isn't. If you are careful you can take shots at an enemy all day and still escape notice. Sometime strange stuff happens.

  4. In testing I have found it best to just leave the AI to its own devices with arty. Pre-plotted stuff can be good for setting a mood but it is pretty gamey if the designer plops you in the middle of a massive preplanned barrage.

The AI will use its arty and can be quite deadly with it.

One thing to remember when designing is that you now actually have to worry about where to place your FO since they will tend to engage if you don't give them the right orders and then the AI loses its big guns.

  5. Gents,

I'm in the midst of TF Thunder. SPOILERS!!!!

The 8th battle, Objective Normandy, has a victory condition issue. I do not know if it is a scenario design oversight or a flaw in CMSF. In the post-game victory condition screen I was denied points for gaining objectives. Now, it is true that I had not gained those objectives BECAUSE THE GAME ENDED TOO SOON! Had it contined for even one more turn I would have gained them.

If the scenario has a terrain objectives, let's not have the scenario terminate early. If this is a CMSF issue, then the victory points should be assumed to have been awarded to the side causing the enemy to surrender.

    Regards,

    Ken

Interesting. I may have noticed this happen before but didn't really pay attention. Other times I have recieved points even for locations I did not control after a surrender. I will play around with it as soon as I get a bit of time. Things are a little busy at the moment.

  6. Ledger is absolutely brilliant. I actually had reservations and doubts when people were talking about Oscar consideration. He normally plays the same character in all his films so I didn't know what to expect. He was totally transformed. I thought Jack played the Joker really well but Ledger's version is the psychopath I expected from the later comics.

I recomend this one with no reservations.
