American view of the Eastern Front
SgtMuhammed replied to Hans's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Well no matter what we do someone will see it in a negative light. If we promote the building of industry in the third world we are exploiting them, if we don't we are being selfish. -

All right Goodale you want raised hands, I'll raise one as I chuck a 155 round your way. Go ahead and chuck your TNT (5000 points or less computer is kind of old) and I'll light it and show you how you are supposed to use it.   -
Is it worth it? (Slightly Off topic :-) )
SgtMuhammed replied to britfish's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
If you know where you can get them checked I would ask if you could get an outside evaluation as to their authenticity. If they are real then there should be no problem. If the seller is reluctant to get another opinion then you might want to think twice. -

If they are genuine and in good condition (do the weapons fire?) then yes. If they are all just show pieces then I would say not. -
Do you have any assault boats? The computer will not play assault boats.

Watching the weather forcasts here in Europe it seems that the winter in Russia begins June 2 and ends on May 31. -
Excuse me. I have only been into wargames for less than two decades, and don't know that many games... The first wargame I know to use WeGo is Johnny Reb (ACW). I don't know when it was first relesed, but it was around in the early-mid '70ies and the latest edition is still for sale. Johnny Reb lent much of it's orders system to Command Decision (WW2) that was released around 1980 and later spawned into Combined Arms (Cold War era) and Over the Top (WW1). It's worth to notice that all of these are miniature wargames though. Cheers Olle</font>

Where are the Cheat Codes & Easter Eggs?
SgtMuhammed replied to Black Max's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Yeah whatever, we ain't fallin for the old "we had to work routine." Most of us have work to do but that doesn't stop us from staying home to play CMBB. -
Especially in this incarnation. Things are just plain wierd in the land of Peng right now. Wait for the next one if you do decide to venture forth (or fifth). Welcome to the board.

American view of the Eastern Front

Agreed, a well informed and well educated people are nearly impossible to enslave. Too bad most people don't want to take the effort to become informed and educated. -
American view of the Eastern Front
SgtMuhammed replied to Hans's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Leit This is a weak point of people in general. How else do you explain all those halfbaked crackpots who rise to power. In any culture the vast majority of the people are sheep. The have no drive other than to fill their bellies and their beds and keep themselves out of the rain. Let one man tell them that he can lead them to greener pastures and they will do unspeakable evil for their new savior. Most of the human race doesn't want to decide what to believe they want to be told. This is not an American condition this is a human condition. -

allied vs german force makeup in QB's
SgtMuhammed replied to easytarget's topic in Combat Mission: Beyond Overlord
The discrepency that you notice in the game reflects the actual historic situation. The Germans had a ton of different unit TO&Es because of internal politics and changing military policy and fortune. Thus you have SS, Wehrmacht, Luftwaffe, Volksgrenadier, Volksturm, Fortress, etc. This lead to vast differences in their fighting capabilities and complicated an already failing supply system. For the Allies the main concern was to rapidly expand the army for the conquest of Nazi Germany. The easiest and fastest way to do this was to make all the parts interchangable. One American infantry regiment was the same as another. This also became the case with the rest of the Allies as weapons and equipment became more standardized. This had the advantage of being more flexible (you could mix and match Allied units to an extent not possible in the Axis army) easier to supply and simpler to command. So while the type of units may be less for the Allies you will find the capabilities to be about the same or better (try attacking an American company with a SMG armed VG unit). -
How much smoke does Arty have...?
SgtMuhammed replied to RSColonel_131st's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I seem to get the opposite problem. I don't use smoke too much myself (too impatient ) but the AI smoke seems to take forever to go away. Of course that could be because he tends to fire about half his basic load using the stuff. -
Post a link I am sure you will find several testers.

Infantry HQs in AT combat
SgtMuhammed replied to Scipio's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
The platoon HQ is going to consist of the LT, PSG, RTO, and Medic. Not a lot of people with time enough on their hands to be messing with tanks. -
Name of Camo Scheme in famous Tiger Photo?
SgtMuhammed replied to Neuer Art's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
I think it is the standard sand scheme that the Germans used on the steppes. It had a tan base with red, brown, or green stripes or lines. Not sure of the exact name though. -
New Soviet M17 MOD.
SgtMuhammed replied to carlrender's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
Thanks MikeyD. -
Sometimes I think the Russians read too much Heinlein. Those dark black and green tanks look like huge bugs coming to kill you. Someone hand me a flamer! Nice work.

New Soviet M17 MOD.
SgtMuhammed replied to carlrender's topic in Combat Mission: Barbarossa to Berlin
MikeyD, All my books refer to this ht as the M16. I know that is the nomenclature of the quad mount itself but I can't find anything calling the vehicle as a whole anything different. Am I just looking for the wrong model? James
