So necro post to an old thread, but I logged on for the first time in a very long time (hardly touch CM these days) and saw I had a ping in this thread from back in September relating to my tree mod. Would like to set the record straight cuz credit's due where credit's due. Mine was actually inspired by EZ's mod. Many many years ago, EZ posted a screen of the terrain mod he was working on, and I noticed his trees looked a ton better than stock.   2. People have been saying that about modding since CMBO days (including when model swaps were discovered, then hex editing, then the 3d modelling & now hypothetical animation editing*). I have absolutely no idea where people have got this idea that @Battlefront.com don't like modding. Where, in the past twenty years, has anybody at BFC complained about modding in the slightest? Heck, when the blender techniques first came out Steve even offered helpful advice to the modders! It should be noted that I've yet to see any conclusive evidence than any mod (including the animat

  3. I did, but it really doesn't tell me anything I didn't already know.....I am absolutely aware of what can be swapped in any and all CM titles, by dint of having tried it, with almost everything. Seriously! My general rule of thumb is that if a vehicle can be emptied with the Dismount command it can probably be crew-swapped. If it requires the Bail Out command to get everyone out, it probably cannot be crew-swapped. However I wouldn't guarantee that to be 100% accurate either (as I said earler, what can be done in the editor and what can be done in-game is very different). PS

  4. I don't seek out armor duels because they are a bit like tossing a coin, but they come up again and again. So I was interested to learn what I can do to maximize the chances for my tank in a duel if it gets into one. So I put two identical Pz IVH (late) tanks with regular crews, no modifiers, against each other at 600 m range. I called one "Attacker" and the other "Defender", although it does not mean anything. I put both on a mild slope (partial hull down) and varied different conditions. Crew hatches open/closed, vehicle movement, terrain type, crew experience. I ran each case at least

    Oh oh. My simple statement didn't hold up I'm not 100% sure how the rules are applied across all vehicles. But for tanks and battle taxis that have specialized weapons you cannot swap crews. Sorry there is some inconsistency in simple transports.

Oops, forgot to add the [armored] tag at the end: Panzergrenadier Battalion 43/44 [armored] If you are looking in QBs, make sure you have selected mixed or armored infantry as your force type otherwise you will get dismounted formations. Also, mortars usually have on- and off-map options, so you also need to have on-map selected for the mortar sections. The 251/2s are in the Panzergrenadier Companies. The Heavy Company’s 120mm mortars are not SP and are off-map only. Also should note that in the Panzeraufklarung Battalion armored recon companies, the mortars are mounted in 25

  9. Mounted mortar operation was a feature added in one of the numbered engine upgrades. You can find 251/2s in Panzergrenadier Battalion 43/44 [armored] or Panzer Aufklarung Battalion 43/44. You’ll need to set the date forward as there were none on Sicily.

  12. Would indeed love to see the possibility to support with indirect fire from automatic grenade launchers and machine guns. Maybe with the same mechanic as on-map mortars with the possibility to call for fire by FOs and commanders?

  13. It could be the case, so I repeated the test with the contact marker 300 m off instead of 60 m. The result was the same as with 60 m. If there is a bubble, it is big.

  18. If you want music that you can make mods from for the game i.e. "music intro", "music splash", " music end of battle" then you are better off without youtube. I just download the stuff that the troops would have been listening to at the time, and convert them to wav files. Obviously, most people stick to "Hollywood" or modern stuff. But I don't see the point of playing an historically accurate game with non-historical music.

  21. If you are still experiencing your problem what I would do is install Steam and use it to install Black Sea. See IF the game runs. You can then uninstall Steam but seeing if Black Sea from Steam runs would give you some more info to work with. You might even be able to grab the Steam BRZs and put them in your Battlefront install.

  24. This little gem of a scenario represents all that’s best about playing vs the AI, a great example of a deeply frustrating tactical puzzle – but only if you play as the underdog Free French. I’ve played this three times now, a Tactical Defeat, a Minor Defeat and finally a Minor Victory... and I felt I’d really earned the latter... I haven’t tried going after the high ground yet, maybe I’ll give that a go next time out. I’ve tried various ways to attack the town and yeah, it’s a bit 'gamey' but try pushing a couple of infantry-loaded Deuces (don’t forget to acquire the Bazookas and ammo!) w

Be right back, gonna invest into Gamestop and help to the downfall of Wall Street "suits" in the name of Armored vehicle representation. In a more serious note, Steve, If I may ask, the lack of the Jagdtiger from the TOE is also a mistake of that provisional draft; or is that going to be the case in the final game?. If is that so, may I ask why is not being included?

  26. We got 'em all! Russian Tactical Victory.....I'm well pleased with that in CM:BS! TBH I'd have done a bit better if I'd called a ceasefire earlier, a late arriving Apache took out my Tunguska and then had a field day! Great scenario, but I knew it would be, it's one of yours. PS - Outta likes again! PPS - I'm going to go further.....TBH that was the most enjoyable CM:BS scenario I have ever played, it genuinely felt like either side could win at any time, which isn't an easy balance to strike in this game. Kudos!

So, the results of the Great Bong-Hai Boat Race are in.....The winner (as expected) is: The crew had time to get out and crack open a beer while they waited for the other competitors to arrive (roughly 4m40s to cover 1km). Second place was a close run thing between the LAVs, our BRDM based Patrol Boat and that stalwart workhorse of CM:HE the BTR-60: Bringing up the rear at a leisurely pace were our Fuchs based MG Boat and MG Junk followed by our BMP-2 based Patrol Boat and the BMP-1:
