    Welcome to 2021!

I'm a brand-new customer and only just heard of Combat Mission thanks to the Shock Force 2 listing on Steam. This despite looking for literal years for a realistic tactics simulation of infantry and combined arms combat, and being an avid player of tabletop miniatures wargames like Bolt Action. Suffice to say, Combat Mission is like a gift from the gods, and checks boxes I didn't even know I could wish for. I've become an instant fan. This news about my Battlefront purchase being honored on Steam is wonderful, and I've shared it with my IRL gaming group friends. I'm hoping a couple of the

  2. Oh buddy, you're in the right place. I am new to Combat Mission as well, but oh my god, am I ever glad to have found it. Never been able to get into RTS games, they often look kind of neat, but the base building and whatnot are just not compelling for me. They may be good games, but realism takes a very, very distant backseat to creating an intense gaming experience, and honestly I'm neither good at them nor enjoy them. I'm much more of a combat flight sim and FPS guy, and what I enjoy most in a game is its ability to allow me to use real life tactics as realistically as possible an

    Welcome to 2021!

I think that whilst we are waiting for Fire and Rubble, instead of moaning, we should have a little sing-song. All together now... "We wish you a Happy Lockdown, we wish you a Happy Lockdown, we wish you a Happy Lockdown, and a Poxy New Year. Bad tidings we bring from Boris your king. But, we wish you a Happy Lockdown and a Poxy New Year." Stay safe peeps.

“...time sucking variable” was once my answer to my lovely wife when asked why I hadn’t gotten to my chores for the day. “Sorry dear,” says I, “but playing Combat Mission is a time sucking variable.” I was then informed that the Doghouse is also a time sucking variable.

Yes 😥... Especially the info on CM-5 made me happy indeed...and like many others i was about to post a...big thankyou ! But as things currently stand...I changed my mind slightelly... I wll post A BIG !!! Thankyou ones the CM-5 update has actually been released...and we see what it entails... And as it turned out...work on this update has not even begun yet...and it will not do so until FR has been finished by the sound of one of the later statements. Hopefully it we be a fairly simple task to add some of the features already designed for the other version of CM...If n

They chuck a number of smoke grenades toward the enemy that increase the tank destroyer's chance of escape. Eat fog, rooster! It works and the HQ crew manage to back their vehicle to safety. Meanwhile, the last fully-functional Hetzer leads a combined arms advance on the other side of the woods to try and open up an avenue for a flanking attack on the rooster gang.

First of all I want specified that the mod is from Lucky Strike, I am only like his muse 🤣 I did some sunken path test with parallel hedges in diagonal we obtain a conclusive effect on the other hand the vehicles cannot use them with the hedges parallel horizontal or vertical by alternating the heights we obtain a good effect and the vehicles passe by mixing the two we can obtain a convincing maze of hedges

  11. Steve in his 2021 greeting said 'CMBS/Steam/Very Soon'. I expect Slitherine's definition of 'very soon' is much quicker than BFC's. It was working with Slitherine on deadline-driven 'government work' that's had the effect of delaying everything else last year. BFC's been busily working away but unfortunately much of it is not for your eyes. But they have gotten into the habit of working to a deadline, which may have positive downstream effects.

CMA needs a game engine 4 upgrade to make it viable, IMHO. I’ll continue to dream on, only now with a little bit of hope!

    Welcome to 2021!

I figured out the problem, the only people that can be happy are the ones that really enjoy any period of time as to the wargaming periods provided. Because BF really does not have the ability to support the 6 different games they are presently marketing, to keep adding to each has created way to much time between when they can add on and make additions to any one. The interest is lost because of the big time gap. Only those players that can be content with each and every release until the next one seem to be somewhat content. If CMBS was the only game that mattered to you as a

I'm not sure it's a matter of nerve, I've never found anyone at BFC that scary that I wouldn't ask them a question - if I felt the need to. Anyway, worst case would seem to be February + 2 months = April. Assuming the time sucker doesn't persist 😉.

  29. Hi all, first post here, I'm also a fan of flight sims. I missed out on the glory days of the original IL-2 as I wasn't simming at the time, but since 2011 I've been pretty active with Rise of Flight (also from 1C-777) and to a lesser degree with the IL-2 Great Battles series, which I've backed since launch in 2014. To confirm: the IL-2 Great Battles series is absolutely compatible with VR, and is considered one of the best-supported VR titles out there. I am not (yet) a VR user, but it has been a feature for years now, and the official forums are full of discussion and suggestions for g

So we don't really disagree conceptually 😉 We do sometimes disagree on the proper vehicle used for communicating our desires ;-). I for one already expect that BFC is working as hard as they can while keeping things healthy. Don't forget there is actualy people working on the products and in theory people can work 18hours a day for a bit. But that usually doesn't turn out good for long, healthwise and product quality wise. Plus, improvements on an existing development process which is actuall

Plot your fire in the last 15 seconds of the 60 minutes turn. At the new turn they can do an exit from the building. Have an assault team popping smoke on the end of their turn. Just a few suggestions.

    Mark mines?

Mines are one of those weapons that has the potential to bring a scenario to a dead halt. There's a reason why people rarely string mine belts across a scenario map or (other examples) plaster the far end of a map with artillery rockets at startup, or knock down the only bridge over a river with battleship artillery. Because the result is the scenario's over before the fun starts.

    Welcome to 2021!

Happy new year! Excited for F&R. Also good news all the BFC titles are going to Steam! So the CMSF2 Steam release was a success 🙂. I guess that's the feature which creates one 'movie' from all turns in a game? 😐 Personally (and I guess quite some others) would really like such a feature (unsupported), so that I can view / record a full AAR of a game without having to load each individual turn. The required high-end system seems not that big of a problem (for me and probably other 'computer enthusiasts'). However, if it requires hours of number crunching it's

  38. Unless there's subtext I'm missing somewhere, I don't think highlighting Stalin's atrocities automatically makes one an apologist for the 'other' side (Nazis, in this case). It's a rather large leap in logic. Typically, if you're against murder you're against it. End of. Nevermind that as time progresses onward and onward that these two men will presumably blur and we'll just be left with blips of abhorrence whose import will be left to the nerds and historians. I think Hitler's Vlad-like place in the history books is pretty well set in stone, but I am not so sure about Uncle Joe. I am all for

  44. From an AAR I've been making of 'Cut off at Kovering What if' that has been quite literally months in the making - I have been far too busy to put the finishing touches. As frustrating as my inability to get back to Canada for x-mas is this year I am (secretly) looking forward to the free time to put a ribbon on this one. https://i.imgur.com/DmS3l8c.mp4 Scenario is initially a frustrating bit of rompo pallo for the Allied attacker, too little frontage, too little cover and too many men. Once you get stuck in though I find the Germans begin to unravel swiftly.

  46. this is ridiculous. It's classic old fascist claptrap where they say "what about Stalin" when they are really saying "Hitler had the right idea" but know they can't say that out loud so do it this way. And then we have memoirs of captured german soldiers who complain how badly they were treated by the soviets -- after having killed ~15% of the soviet population. they were treated horribly and suffered terribly, but no worse than what was done to those hundreds of thousands (millions?) of soviet prisoners who the germans let die in 1941/42. So let's not play the "who was worse" game.
